Chapter 87
–Lucien–
:
I woke up to something warm pressed against my chest.
It was breathing slowly and clinging to me.
I opened my eyes sharply to see what it was.
Elara.

Her face was tucked under my chin, her arms looped around my waist like I was some oversized pillow.
One of her legs was thrown over mine possessively.
I didn’t dare move, I couldn’t.
If I breathe wrong, she will wake up and murder me for getting closer to her.
But damn, it felt good.
It felt dangerously comfortable, like we’ve been married forever and we are a loving mated pair.
Just as I was considering pretending to be still asleep forever, she shifted.
Her eyelashes fluttered and her brow creased.
Then she froze, waking up.
I braced myself for lashing.
Elara slowly pushed herself back, stared at the position we were in…
And let out a horrified gasp. “What-what are you doing?!”
I blinked. “Lying down.”
She looked down at us. “On me?!”
“You’re the one on me,” I corrected calmly. “You climbed onto my side sometime in the night.”
“I did not!” she hissed.
I raised a brow. “Then why is your leg still on me?”
She yanked it away like she’d touched fire.
Her face went crimson and she immediately switched to anger to hide it.

Chapter 87
“You, just…you stay on your side of the bed!”
:.
“I did,” I said, sitting up. “You moved from your side to mine.”
“Moved?!”
“That’s the word, yes, you did,” I replied and she went mad with rage.
She threw a pillow at my head. I caught it without looking.
“You are displaying your hot temper again. Fascinating.”
“Lucien, I swear-”
I cut her off, leaning forward just slightly.
“Elara. I didn’t drag you to me. Didn’t touch or pull you to me. You came on your own.”
Her mouth opened, then closed.
She hated that she didn’t have a comeback.
Which made this moment priceless. I love seeing her speechless.
“You’re infuriating,” she muttered.
“And you are delicious,” I said before I could stop myself.
She stiffened. “Don’t say things like that.”
“Why? It’s true.”
“Lucien….” she gritted her teeth, irritated and was on the verge of breaking out.
But I couldn’t help it, her flustered face was too damn tempting.
So I smirked. “Also, you snore a little.”
Her jaw dropped. “I do not-!”
I laughed, really hard.

She launched herself off the bed to escape me, mumbling curses under her breath as she grabbed her robe.
I watched her tie it around her waist, trying desperately not to look at me again.
Goddess, she was beautiful when she was annoyed.
Beautiful when she wasn’t. Either way, she was always lovely.
I stood, stretching lazily.

Her eyes flicked to me, then she snapped her head away.
“Don’t look at me,” she snapped.
“I wasn’t looking at you.”
She screamed back. “You were!”
“I’m allowed to look at my wife in the morning,” I said lightly.
“Stop calling me that!”
I stepped closer slowly and deliberately to watch her heartbeat jump.
“Elara,” I mumbled.
She swallowed. “W-what?”

I reached past her to pick up my discarded jacket, intentionally brushing her shoulder. She went stiff.
“You don’t have to be scared to fall asleep next to me,” I murmured.
“I’m not scared.”
“Then don’t worry about waking up on my chest.”
I met her eyes. “Though… I didn’t mind.”
Her breath hitched.
I stepped back, giving her space.
“Relax. I’ll keep my distance tonight,” I said gently, even though every instinct in me hated that idea. “Unless, you move to me again,” I added with a smile,
“Lucien! I will kill you!”
I left the room before she could throw something else.
But the warmth where she’d slept on me lingered long after.
After Elara bathed and dressed up, I went in after. We got ready and went downstairs for breakfast.
The dining hall was quiet when we arrived.
Well, quiet until she sat down.
Elara dropped into the chair beside me, making the seat groan against the floor.
Her hair was perfectly brushed; her expression was perfectly murderous.

I took my time sitting.
She glared at me. I smiled back.
“Stop smiling,” she muttered under her breath.
“I’m not,” I said, absolutely smiling.
She clenched her jaw.

Across from us, Kingsley was reading something. While mom was pretending not to stare at us, her neck was stretched like a predator’s.
Theo and Kaia don’t eat breakfast with us anymore after the fight. That bastard had the guts to move his dining room after hitting and humiliating me.
I still have a score to settle with him.
An attendant set plates in front of us.
Elara immediately pushed hers away. “I’m not hungry.”
“You didn’t eat last night,” I said. “If you faint, I refuse to catch you.”
“You wouldn’t catch me anyway.”
I tilted my head. “I caught you last night.”
Her eyes widened. “Lucien, I will pour this juice on your face-”
Mother gasped dramatically. “Elara! Don’t talk to your husband like that!”
Elara groaned into her hands. “Please stop calling him my husband.”
“But you are married,” I said, to watch her twitch.
She inhaled sharply. “I am reconsidering my choices every minute.”
“You didn’t have a choice,” I reminded her cheerfully. “You said ‘I do.’ Publicly in front of the whole pack.”
“I was under stress!”
“You looked very willing to me.” I laughed in her face.
She kicked me under the table.
I smothered a wince. “Ouch, that hurts”
Kingsley finally looked up. “Is this how the two of you intend to behave every morning?”
“Yes,” I answered.

“No,” Elara snapped.
:
We spoke at the same time. Kingsley sighed like he regretted being alive.
Cara clasped her hands. “Oh, this is so romantic! Newlywed banter!”
Elara actually choked on air. “Romantic?! He..he..he annoys me!”
I lifted my cup. “To love.”
She snatched my cup and drank from it out of pure spite.
I blinked, and she froze.
Mother squealed. “Look! You already share drinks!”
Elara acted as if her entire soul had left her body.
“That’s not, he didn’t, I just…just-” she stammered.
“You can keep it,” I murmured.
“NO.”
“Okay.”
She pushed the cup back at me. “Take a sip right now.”
I drank from the same spot, looking at her face.
She made a strangled noise.
Kingsley muttered, “Oh dear Goddess.”
We couldn’t stop arguing throughout the entire breakfast.
After eating, we headed out to go back to our room where we found my mother standing.
She looked like waiting long

“You two need to bond,” she declared. “Lucien, you didn’t get your lovely wife a wedding gift. Why don’t you take her shopping today?”
Elara almost choked. “Cara, that’s really not nec-”
“I agree,” I said instantly.
Both of them turned to me in unison.
I smiled. “She deserves something.”

Elara blinked, stunned.
Mother clapped her hands. “See? He’s learning.”
Elara wanted to slam her head into the wall.
But refusing would only make her look petty.
“…fine,” she muttered.
When they got to the pack garage, Elara said flatly, “I’m not going alone with you.”
I shrugged. “Bring someone along if you want ”
She took out her phone and sent a text.
Five minutes later, her friend, Rabiya practically skipped out of the guest wing.
“Shopping?! With you two? Oh, this will be fun,” Rabiya said, grinning.
“…I regret this already,” Elara whispered.
I held the car door open for them.
Rabiya nudged Elara. “Wow. What a gentleman you have as a husband”
“He probably wants something,” Elara muttered.
I heard. “I want silence. Preferably that’s what I want.”
Rabiya laughed. “That’s not happening, Lucien.”

When we reached the supermarket, Rabiya and Elara rushed out in front of me, while I trailed behind.
Elara picked up something, stared at it for a minute and dropped it back.
“Do you like it?” I asked.
She jumped a little. “I was just looking.”
Rabiya smirked. “She loves it. This is one of her favourites.”
Elara elbowed her. “Rabiya! Stop that, don’t tell him anything”
I picked it up again. “We’ll take it.”
“NO, we’re not buying that”
“It’s a gift,” I said, interrupting her. “Unless you want to tell Cara you rejected your own wedding present.”
Elara frowned, staring at me.

Rabiya whispered, “Ooooh, he’s using Cara against you. What a smart man.”
I smirked.
Elara growled. “Fine.”
But when I fastened the bracelet around her wrist, her breath hitched.
It fit perfectly, like it was made with her in mind.
Rabiya lit up. “It’s beautiful”
Our eyes met but Elara quickly looked away.
What a shame.
After shopping the whole day, we decided to grab brunch before heading home.
We got to a cafe and settled in.
Rabiya ordered pastries. I ordered tea.
Elara stared at her bracelet, pretending she didn’t feel weirdly shy.

“You know,” Rabiya said casually, “this is the first time I’ve seen you two not trying to kill each other.”
Elara and I choked on air.
I lifted an eyebrow. “We are polite”
Rabiya laughed. “You called her stubborn three times in the car.”
“She is stubborn”
“And she called you an overgrown wolf with ego problems.”
I shrugged. “Also true.”
Elara stared at both of us like we were insane.
Rabiya beamed. “See? Progress.”
Elara rolled her eyes, but she was smiling a little.
After grabbing brunch, we returned to the packhouse. I made a mental note to take Elara out alone later
When we got back, Mother ran out to greet us as if we had just returned from a honeymoon.
“Elara! What did he get you?!” she demanded.
I looked bored but Elara lifted her wrist.

Mother gasped dramatically. “Lucien! It’s lovely!”
Rabiya whispered, “I think he did well.”
:.
Heart crawled up to Elara’s cheeks. She shamefully acknowledged.
“…yeah,” she muttered. “He did.”
