The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Gemma wasn’t someone to mess with. As soon as she sensed things were going south, she called her own lawyer over

In her mind, even if Arthur had brought in a top lawyer like Andrew and Owen, there was no way they could take her down.

With Tristan and Ryan backing her up, there was no way Hannah could turn things around.

Once everyone had arrived and Hannah had just finished what she was doing, she put her phone away and lifted her gaze.

She spoke up, “Let’s begin.”

Her eyes were cold and distant, her aura icy and untouchable, as if she was on a whole different level from everyone else in the room.

Ryan shot a look at Ethan, who understood immediately and opened up the newly organized case file.

“Gemma, about the case you reported this morning, we’ve re-examined the details. The victim, Jasper, is able to speak clearly and normally, so your report doesn’t match the facts,” Ethan said.

Gemma’s lawyer, Bonnie, had already learned about the situation earlier this morning and stepped forward to speak up for her.

“Just because he suddenly got his voice back today doesn’t mean he wasn’t hurt. We’ve got a report from Grace Hospital, and the doctors and nurses can all testify that he couldn’t speak at all last night,” Bonnie argued.

“What you need to prove is that Hannah actually caused Jasper to lose his voice, not just wave around a hospital report,” Victor said.

While Bonnie was hurrying over, Hannah had already figured out the whole story behind the case.

Bonnie was left speechless.

‘No wonder Andrew’s one of the top lawyers in the country. He nailed our weak spot the second she spoke, Bonnie thought.

The hospital still hasn’t figured out why Jasper lost his voice, and other than what Jasper himself said, there’s no actual evidence.

Still, Bonnie pressed on and said,

“The teacher in the Cavalor School mailroom can confirm that Jasper was speaking normally when he left after school yesterday. But after he had a confrontation with Hannah and came back, he couldn’t speak at all,” Bonnie stated.

“I can confirm that,” Owen stepped forward and said.

Gemma felt a wave of relief wash over her.

She’d been worried Owen was on Hannah’s side, but now that he was speaking up for Jasper, she finally felt at ease.

“But it wasn’t Hannah who made him lose his voice. I was just picking up a package from the mailroom when I saw Jasper trying to bully Hannah. After I stepped in and pulled him away, he just clammed up and stopped talking,” Owen explained.

“Hannah was worried I’d misunderstand, so she even tried to smooth things over for Jasper. He ended up helping her carry her packages, and the whole thing with his finger was just an accident,” Owen said.

Gemma was stunned.

Jasper was even more shocked.

“I didn’t hit her! She pressed my mute acupoint to mute my voice. That’s why I freaked out!” Jasper protested, eyes wide with disbelief as he tried to defend himself.

“Mute your voice? Seriously, have you been watching too many dramas?” Hannah chuckled, her tone playful.

“You!” Jasper choked on his words, completely thrown off by her teasing. Is she messing with me right now?’ he thought,

flustered.

He could’ve sworn he’d felt Hannah’s hand swipe across his neck, and then-bam-his voice was just gone. If that wasn’t some kind of strike, then what the hell was it?’ Jasper wondered, still baffled.

“I’m starting to suspect Jasper might just be faking his so-called ‘loss of voice. Otherwise, why can’t the hospital find any cause?” Hannah said, feigning a thoughtful look.

As soon as she spoke, Owen and the lawyers immediately caught on, exchanging knowing glances at Jasper as if they’d just realized something.

“No, that’s not true! Stop making things up!” Jasper protested desperately, unable to defend himself.

Gemma’s eyes narrowed. “Owen, after all these years, you still don’t trust Jasper? Why are you taking Hannah’s side and lying for her? Did she get to you too?”

“I stand for what’s right, not for who I know,” Owen replied, his tone unwavering. “Honestly, I’m ashamed it took me this long to see your true colors. I’ve already cut Jasper off.”

Jasper never expected Owen to throw him under the bus like that in front of everyone. He was so pissed he could barely breathe.

Gemma took a deep breath, couldn’t spare a moment to question Jasper about what was really going on.

With Owen’s testimony, the momentum was clearly shifting in Hannah’s favor. Arguing alone wasn’t going to help them now. She needed to come up with a new plan.

She shot a look at Tristan and Ryan, trying to figure out how to bring up her next move.

Meanwhile, Bonnie shot back, “If you really didn’t hurt Jasper, then why would we even bother calling the cops?”

Andrew fired right back, “Because you want her locked up!”

Bonnie was totally blindsided and couldn’t get a word out.

She was hoping to play the misunderstanding card, but Andrew shut her down before she could.

“To sum it up, Gemma made up the whole story, conspired with the cops, and filed a fake report just to frame Hannah and get her locked up. That’s straight-up false accusation and framing. Officer, I ask you to press charges,” Andrew said to Ethan.

“Book her,” Ethan said with a flick of his hand, and two officers instantly moved in to grab Gemma.

Gemma was completely caught off guard by the tables being turned on her.

She looked to Tristan and Ryan for help. “Mr. Pierce, Chief Patrick…”

Tristan lounged against the iron gate, cigar in hand, just enjoying the show. He didn’t even bother to look her way.

“Let’s also check out her bribery while we’re at it,” he added, his voice lazy but with a dangerous edge.

‘She really tried to set up my sister-in-law with these pathetic moves? If I don’t go hard on her, Barnaby will never let me hear the end of it, Tristan thought, his jaw clenched.

Gemma’s eyes went wide in disbelief.

No way! Tristan’s not backing me up? Gemma’s thoughts were in chaos.

“Mr. Pierce, don’t worry, we’ll dig up every shady move she tried, Ryan said, then turned to Hannah

“Ms. Carter, are you happy with how things went? If you’ve got any concerns, we can head to my office and talk it out in private,” he offered.

He flashed a smile, and you could tell from his attitude and voice that the respect was real. He just couldn’t hide it.

Gemma’s jaw practically hit the floor. She was totally speechless.

And it wasn’t just her. Jasper, Owen, and the rest of the crew were all left gaping in shock.

Sure, they’d all seen Tristan and Ryan hanging back, but nobody had guessed the whole case was being refried just to protect Hannah. That kind of backing? It was next-level.

“Thanks, it’s all good,” Hannah said, getting up and sauntering out of the cell, totally unfazed.

Ryan let out a long sigh of relief. ‘Finally got the big shot out of here, he thought.

Hannah paused at the doorway, giving Gemma a frosty, detached look.

She moved her lips and said coolly, “Sorry, Mrs. Baker, I seem to have taken your spot. Guess it’s your turn behind bars.”

Her casual tone made the jab sting even more.

Gemma was so furious she could barely keep her composure, her eyes cold and venomous as she spat, “You bitch!”

‘I really let my guard down this time!’ Gemma cursed herself inwardly.

‘Who would’ve thought Tristan would actually back up that bitch?’ Gemma fumed, her mind spinning with disbelief.

‘Sure, she’s got a pretty face, I’ll give her that. But everyone knows Tristan swaps women like he changes clothes. Once he gets tired of her, she’ll get what’s coming to her!’ Gemma sneered to herself, a twisted sense of satisfaction creeping in.

Now that things had gotten this far, with Tristan and Ryan right there, Gemma could only grit her teeth and suck it up, just hoping the Baker family would bail her out soon.

If she kicked up a fuss now, she’d actually end up in jail for real.

Ethan gripped Gemma’s shoulder and shoved her hard into the cell, the iron door slamming shut with a loud bang.

“Mom…” Jasper blurted out, but he couldn’t do a thing. The cops hustled him out before he could even react.

Now that everything was wrapped up, Tristan grumbled, “Alright, let’s get out of here. This place reeks.”

Hannah really had nothing to say.

Ryan could only stare in silence.

Ethan was left at a loss for words.

‘Seriously, he didn’t complain at all when he first got here. Now, after a few hours, he’s suddenly acting all sensitive? Talk about dramatic, Ethan thought, rolling his eyes inwardly.
