Chapter 114
Chapter 114
“What’s up?”
Barnaby asked when he saw her carrying the medicine box.
“Let me help you with your injury.” Hannah said softly as she walked over to the bed and opened the box.
“What injury?” Barnaby asked, casually toweling his damp hair as he stepped closer.
Hannah felt a flash of embarrassment, though her face stayed calm. She quietly pointed to the bite mark just below his collarbone.
Barnaby glanced down and smirked.

He lounged on his side, head propped up by one hand, his deep eyes locked on Hannah. He looked every bit the heartthrob fresh from the shower, just waiting for her to make a move.
‘Looks like the little girl’s finally learning to care about me. Not bad. Guess that bite was worth it after all, Barnaby thought, a hint of amusement in his mind.
Hannah gently cleaned up the bite mark and dabbed on some anti-inflammatory cream to help with the swelling.
When Barnaby didn’t say anything, she couldn’t help but feel more and more guilty, like she really was the one who’d bitten
him.
But since he didn’t mention it, she hurried to shove the whole thing out of her mind, pretending it never happened.
When they got back to Skycrest House at noon, Hannah hopped in the shower, then went looking for her phone, only to realize it was nowhere to be found. She’d rushed home so fast, she’d even forgotten her camera.
The camera could be mailed back to her, but her phone was just gone.
Hannah didn’t sweat it. She bought a new phone, copied all her old data over from her computer, and with one tap, wiped the old phone and turned it into a total brick.

Next week, Cavalor School’s anniversary celebration runs from Wednesday to Friday.
Every year, it’s not just the school that takes the anniversary seriously, the Grade 11 and Grade 12 do too, especially the Grade 12.
That’s because top universities from all over the world send their reps to the event, looking for fresh talent. Cavalor even holds a special prep class exam, and those university scouts use it to pick out their favorite students and hand out those rare direct admission offers.

“If anyone wants to sign up for the prep class exam, come see me in my office after class,” Megan announced from the front of the room, finishing up the school announcement.
Hannah paused her game and glanced up.
“Megan, do you really think anyone from our class could actually pass the exam and get a direct admission spot?” Zoe asked.
“Yeah, Megan, we all know our limits. We’re not about to embarrass ourselves or the school,” another student chimed in.
Chapter 111
“Megan, you really didn’t have to come all the way here just to read us this announcement Just take it easy and rest up for the baby,” another student teased.
Speechless, Hannah just stared at him.
Megan thought about their recent midterm scores and said, “I’m just asking for the sake of it. You can just listen and forget about it.”
“Guess Megan’s finally done trying to lecture us!” The whole class burst out laughing.
Megan just sighed, at a loss for words.
“These kids just don’t care about studying. It’s enough to make a teacher lose sleep, Megan thought, feeling totally helpless
Supporting her back, she made her way to the office and spent the whole class just putting together a tutoring plan for her students.
Just after the bell rang, there was a knock at the office door. Everyone else was off teaching, so Megan was alone.
“Come in,” she called, glancing up to see Hannah walk in.
“Here to ask for time off again?” Megan couldn’t help but ask out of habit.
She was so used to Hannah coming in just to ask for leave.
“No, I want to sign up for the prep class exam,” Hannah said.
Megan blinked, thinking she must have misheard.
“Oh please, only Megan’s students could be this confident with such average grades” Kendra said with a mocking laugh as she walked into the office, catching Hannah’s words.
Kendra had just come back after class and couldn’t help but sneer.
Megan had just been about to tell Hannah to forget it. Ever since the holiday, Hannah had barely been in class, and whenever she did show up for an exam, she’d just write her name and hand in a blank paper.
But when she heard Kendra’s snide remark, Megan’s mood soured instantly. She could take it when Kendra talked about her, but badmouthing her students was a whole different story.
She handed Hannah the sign-up sheet. “It’s all about giving it a shot. Here, Hannah, fill this out.”
Kendra snorted. “Maybe you should know your place. None of the kids in Class 2 even dared to sign up, so what are you doing here? Just trying to make a scene? Even if you sign up, you won’t even get past the first round, let alone actually take
the exam.”
“Why don’t you stop messing around and go practice your speech for the opening ceremony? Don’t go making Cavalor look
bad!”
Hannah didn’t even look at her, finished the form, and walked out.
After school, Owen showed up with the speech in hand, hoping to rehearse with Hannah, but she just brushed him off, claiming she didn’t have time.
Wednesday, the day of the opening ceremony of the school’s anniversary celebration.
The ceremony was set for ten, but Hannah showed up at school at 6:30. After just one read-through of the script, she had the entire three-page speech memorized, word for word.
Chapter 111
Hannah, how did you do that?” Owen was totally floored.
Hannah just shrugged and said coolly. “Practice”
“Seriously, how do you practice like that? Owen pressed, genuinely curious. He really wanted to learn her trick.
He’d spent the whole day memorizing the speech, but Hannah just glanced at it once and it was like she’d photocopied it straight into her brain.
‘No wonder she’s a total study god, Owen thought, totally in awe.
“Just brute-force it into your memory, like playing a memory inatch game in your head. You should try it, Hannah said.
Owen stared at her, completely impressed. ‘She really is a study god. Even gaming is just another way for her to learn! he thought.
After rehearsal, Hannah headed to the makeup room with the artist. While she was getting her makeup done, Jane Dross walked in.
“Hannah, I came to apologize for earlier,” Jane said, fidgeting awkwardly as she set a bag down on the dressing table.
“Bet you haven’t had breakfast yet, so I brought you some snacks. Hope you don’t stay mad at me,” she added, trying to sound casual.
Hannah barely glanced at the snack bag, then just looked down and let the makeup artist do her thing.
Jane was super annoyed when Hannah just ignored her.
But then she remembered that after today, Hannah would finally be out of Cavalor for good, and that cheered her up a bit.
“Well, I won’t bother you anymore. Don’t forget to eat your breakfast,” Jane said, her voice dripping with fake concern. As she left, she gave the makeup artist a knowing look.
The makeup artist nodded. Not long after Jane left, she clutched her stomach and said, “Sorry, I suddenly have a stomachache. I need to use the restroom.”
With that, she set her things down, closed the door behind her, and left.
Hannah glanced up, and after the door closed, she caught the faint sound of someone locking it from the outside.
Outside the hallway, Jane hurried out of the makeup room and slipped away from backstage. She found Jasper waiting for her in the campus bamboo grove.
Jasper had clearly been waiting for a while. As soon as he saw her, he rushed over and asked, “How’d it go? Did she figure it out? Did anyone else notice?”
“No way. That makeup room is way off in the corner, and the signal’s terrible. I even slipped some sleeping pills into the snacks,” Jane said, shaking her head with total confidence.
“By the time she wakes up, the opening ceremony and the info olympiad will both be over. You handle the media, make as much of a scene as you can. The bigger the mess, the harder it’ll be for Owen to cover for her,” she added.
“Got it,” Jasper replied, a sly glint in his eyes as he turned away to make a call.
After hanging up, he headed back to class to get ready for tomorrow’s big exam. He was dead set on making sure Owen couldn’t snag that insider recommendation. He’d have to earn it the hard way, just like the rest of them.
At ten o’clock sharp, the opening ceremony of the anniversary celebration began promptly in the auditorium.
11:08 Mon, Dec 22 GJ.
Chapter 114
In the front rows sat the Cavalor School representatives and delegations from top universities, with students and media seated behind them.
Jane arrived early, eager to see Owen take the stage by himself.
Everyone was expecting Owen to take the stage solo, but as soon as the host finished the intro, two people walked out instead.
