Chapter 167
Chapter 167
Pamela had snuck out all by herself, leaving her servants behind. She’d even gone out of her way to dress in shabby clothes, so people on the street thought she was just another old lady trying to pull a scam. Nobody wanted to get involved.
She ended up sprawled on the ground, her legs throbbing, and stayed there for ages before someone finally worked up the nerve to help her. And wouldn’t one know it, it was Hannah.
Pamela’s heart practically burst with joy. “This girl’s got real heart,’ she thought. ‘With that kind of pure goodness, she’s exactly the granddaughter-in-law I want.
But in the very next moment, the girl she’d set her hopes on told her she’d only helped for the money.
Pamela’s mood crashed in an instant. She couldn’t stand women who were just after cash, there were gold-diggers everywhere.
“I’m a bit short on cash these days. If you really want to thank me, just give me some money. And I can even fix your arthritis for you,” Hannah said casually.
“So that’s it, she just needs money,” Pamela instantly understood.
‘She’s only asking for money because she’s strapped for cash, not because she’s chasing riches and status like I thought,’ Pamela thought to herself.
She grinned, her eyes twinkling. “The Croft family is loaded. Marry Owen and all his money is yours. Have a son, and you’ll get half the family fortune.”
Hannah just stared, lost for words.
Owen was stunned.
“Grandma…” Owen tried to interject.
He wanted to cut his grandma off, but at the same time, he was dying to hear what Hannah would say.
“He’s just not my type. I’m not signing up for a lifetime contract,” Hannah replied, unfazed.
Owen’s heart sank when she didn’t even spare him a glance, looking all moody and dejected.
بد
He remembered what Barnaby had said, and he started seriously considering it. ‘Maybe I should just come out, just to see if she’d finally notice me,’ he thought.
Flora’s jaw practically hit the floor at Hannah’s words. ‘Wait, there’s actually a woman who doesn’t care about the Croft family’s fortune at all?’ she thought, stunned.
‘Doesn’t she know there are women lining up around the world just to marry into the Croft family? And she actually says Owen isn’t her type!’ Flora couldn’t believe her ears.
But Pamela was secretly thrilled. ‘Just as I thought, she’s only short on cash, not greedy or scheming. She’s not trying to get close to me for any hidden agenda, Pamela couldn’t help but feel satisfied inside.
“Don’t rush to say no. Love can grow if you give it a chance…” Pamela coaxed, trying to persuade her.
“Grandma, please, enough. I like men,” Owen blurted out, cutting Pamela off.
He blurted it out, cutting his grandma off.
As soon as he said it, the whole place went dead silent for a few seconds.

Pamela and Flora both stared at him in shock, while Hannah shot him a surprised look.

Owen’s heart was pounding out of his chest when Hannah finally looked his way. ‘She actually noticed me! If coming out is what it takes to get her attention, I’ll do it, no big deal, he thought.
“Owen, what did you just say?” Flora blurted out, totally stunned.
“You… you little brat…” Pamela pointed at him, her anger and shock overwhelming her, she couldn’t take it and just fainted on the spot.
“Grandma!” Owen shouted, panic in his voice.
“Mrs. Croft!” Flora cried out, her voice trembling.
Hannah reached for Pamela’s wrist and checked her pulse. “Lay her flat,” she said in a steady voice.
“No way, it’s freezing down here! We need the Nameless Healer, now!” Flora protested, telling the bodyguards to bring the car around and get Pamela to the hospital ASAP.
Pamela was too important, only the Nameless Healer could help her.
“If you want her dead, then go ahead and take her away,” Hannah said, her voice icy.
Flora was taken aback by the sudden chill coming off Hannah. Those mesmerizing eyes of hers were so sharp and commanding, Flora felt an authority she couldn’t defy.
“Do what she says!” Owen ordered, not backing down.
His dad had already asked Hannah to treat his grandma before, so Owen was sure she could handle it.
Flora was still reluctant, but she did as Owen said and laid Pamela down on the ground.
Hannah pulled out an acupuncture kit from her pocket and opened it, revealing a neat row of gold needles. With practiced hands, she found the acupuncture points and expertly inserted several needles into Pamela’s head and hands.
In just a short while, Pamela slowly woke up, gradually regaining consciousness.
Flora let out a breath of relief. “Mrs. Croft, how are you feeling?”
“Grandma…” Owen called out, his voice full of worry.
“You… you little brat, are you trying to give me a heart attack?!” Pamela’s blood pressure was about to go through the roof as soon as she saw Owen.
“Grandma, take it easy, don’t stress,” Hannah said, trying to soothe her. “His orientation’s not something I can fix, but your health? That’s still in my wheelhouse.”
Owen just stood there, speechless.
“If I can’t hold my great-grandchild, what’s the point of living this long? I might as well just give up!” Pamela pouted, throwing a tantrum like a little kid.
Hannah just blinked, not knowing what to say.
Owen quickly tried to soothe her.
“When you get home, stop giving her those rheumatoid arthritis meds. They’ve got hydrocortisone in them, just cover up the symptoms, but don’t actually fix the problem,” Hannah told Flora.

She fished out a little brocade box from her pocket and handed it over. “After she’s off the meds for a week, start her on these. Just one tiny pill, twice a day.”
“How did you know Mrs. Croft’s got RA?” Flora blurted out, totally floored.
Pamela, who was about to start whining again, froze and stared at the box in Flora’s hand. ‘Wait, she knows exactly what’s wrong with me, and even what’s in my meds?’ Pamela thought, utterly shocked.
But the real kicker? That acupuncture was like instant magic. Daisy had tried treating her before, but it was never this quick or this effective.
“Give it a week and see how she’s doing. If you want me to keep treating her after that, just know I’ll be charging next time,” Hannah said as she carefully removed the gold needles and packed them up.
No sooner had Hannah left than Teresa Croft got Flora’s message and showed up in a hurry, her entourage in tow.
As soon as Teresa heard someone had done acupuncture on Pamela, she chewed Owen and Flora out for letting some random person poke needles into her.
Not about to take any chances, she dragged Pamela off to Starlake General Hospital for a full workup, and shot Daisy a message at the same time.
Daisy just happened to be at Starlake General Hospital, wrapping up a discussion about the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles with Mr. Whitmore. As soon as she got the news, she rushed over to Pamela’s room without missing a beat.
But after the doctors gave Pamela a full workup, they couldn’t find a single thing wrong with her. Even her knee, which had been plagued by rheumatoid arthritis, was showing real improvement.
Teresa breathed a sigh of relief, but in her mind, she was sure it had nothing to do with Hannah. ‘It’s definitely Daisy’s treatment finally working,’ she thought, dismissing Hannah’s contribution.
She grabbed Daisy and brought her over to Pamela, saying, “Mom, after Daisy’s recent treatment, your knee’s arthritis is already improving.”
As she spoke, she made sure to shower Daisy with praise. “Daisy, you truly deserve the title of Nameless Healer, your skills are legendary, you work miracles.”
Daisy honestly hadn’t expected this, she’d just done the usual routine, prescribed some meds for Pamela’s arthritis, and the results turned out way better than she thought.
She flashed a confident, easy smile. “Just doing my job, Mrs. Croft. You’re too generous.”
“Miss Reese is the Nameless Healer, she can cure anything. There’s not a single illness in this world she can’t handle,” the attending doctor chimed in, backing up Teresa’s praise.
Daisy was practically walking on air from all the compliments, and Teresa was feeling pretty pleased with herself too.
Everyone could see how well Teresa’s side of the family treated Paniela, so it just made sense that they’d inherit the family headship. Even the Croft shares Pamela held were bound to go to them in the end.
“Actually, it wasn’t Daisy who made the difference,” Pamela corrected them. “Her meds did take the edge off the pain, but nothing really changed. It was my granddaughter-in-law’s acupuncture that worked wonders, I felt way better right away.”
