Pamela’s slow, firm tone instantly shut down the doctor, who had been about to shower Daisy with more praise.

Her words landed like a silent slap, making everyone in the room feel the sting.

Daisy’s smile grew awkward. It was as if Pamela was inviting everyone to question whether she was really the Nameless Healer.

If it had been anyone else, Daisy would’ve “politely” refused to treat them anymore. But Pamela was just as powerful as the Reese family matriarch, so there was nothing Daisy could do.

“Mom, are you mixing things up? Since when do you have a granddaughter-in-law?” Teresa said, trying to break the awkward silence.

She went on, “Do you want Daisy to be your granddaughter-in-law? Honestly, I think it’s a great idea. Magnus is at the right age to settle down, and they’re both from great families, it’s a perfect fit.”

Daisy hesitated, searching for the right words to turn Teresa down.

She only had eyes for Barnaby, no one else would ever do.

“Absolutely not!” But Pamela spoke up before Daisy could even respond.

‘Magnus marrying Hannah is my first choice. If Owen can’t handle it, his older brother will take his place, Pamela thought to herself.

“I’ve already found the right candidate for him. Once I’ve done my homework, I’ll arrange for them to meet,” Pamela declared.

First, her medical skills were questioned, and now her reputation was shot down. Daisy’s smile froze awkwardly on her face.

Sure, she only had eyes for Barnaby and would never marry anyone else, but she was still the Reese family heiress, one of the four big families, and Brynlock’s top socialite. Yet she wasn’t even good enough for Pamela?

That kind of blow made jealousy start to creep in, fueled by the sting of disappointment.

“Mom, seriously, is there anyone in Brynlock who’s got more to offer than Daisy?” Teresa asked.

She was genuinely fond of Daisy, and with both families being so well-matched, a marriage alliance with the Reese family would make the main branch of the Croft family untouchable.

But in the Croft family, she still had to show respect to Pamela.

“Let’s keep it a secret for now,” Pamela just smiled, keeping her lips sealed.

She knew exactly how Teresa operated, if she gave away even a hint, Teresa would be all over it, probably end up hating the candidate, and might even go out of her way to intimidate them. So Pamela made sure to stay mysterious on purpose.

With Pamela keeping quiet, Teresa had no choice but to let it go for now. ‘Fine, I’ll just have someone dig up the info myself later, she thought, a little annoyed but determined.

“Thank you for all your care and treatment, Miss Reese. My health is much improved now, so there’s no need for you to continue coming by,” Pamela said to Daisy.

“Mom, are you really going to let someone else treat you instead of Daisy? How could you even consider that? Daisy is the famous Nameless Healer!” Teresa protested.

“It’s alright, Mrs. Croft. Since you’ve found someone you trust more, I won’t intrude any further. Wishing you a speedy. recovery,” Daisy replied with a polite smile.

With that, she didn’t wait for Teresa to try and stop her, she just turned and walked away.

She made a point of showing she was angry, Daisy wasn’t someone one could just push around.

Besides, not even the Nameless Healer could truly cure rheumatoid arthritis, so Pamela telling her to stop was actually doing her a favor.

If Pamela wanted her so-called granddaughter-in-law to take over, then let her, if anything went wrong down the line, Daisy wouldn’t have to take the fall.

“Daisy…” Teresa pretended to chase after Daisy, just to keep up appearances. But as soon as she stepped outside, she immediately sent someone to find out who was giving Pamela those treatments.

Teresa wasn’t really worried about Pamela’s health, what she truly cared about was who Pamela was planning to set Magnus up with.

And as she thought about it, she started scheming, ‘If I can get that woman to botch the treatment and finish Pamela off, then Magnus and Daisy could finally be together.

After school that afternoon, Hannah and Zoe were just leaving the campus when a white Maserati pulled up beside them.

The window rolled down, revealing a face so unfairly handsome it could make anyone jealous.

“Mr. Thole…” Zoe was so excited she almost screamed, but when she noticed all the curious eyes from their classmates, she quickly clapped a hand over her mouth.

“Boss, I’ll leave you two lovebirds to it!” she said with a cheeky grin, waving as she walked off.

As she walked away, she kept glancing over her shoulder, snapped a few sneaky pics with her phone, and dropped them into her group chats with her closest friends.

The news of Barnaby showing up to see Hannah at lunch blew up every class group chat, even knocking the Baker Group’s family meltdown out of the spotlight.

Everyone was gossiping in their group chats because the school forum wouldn’t let anyone post pics of Barnaby and Hannah, even posts about them kept getting blocked.

Rumor had it the school’s IT team had set up filters to block anything juicy about them.

Hannah could only shake her head and smile at Zoe’s antics.

“Hey, need a ride?” Barnaby called from the driver’s seat, a playful smirk on his face.

Hannah walked over, opened the passenger door, and got in. “Mr. Thole, are you using company time to moonlight as my

chauffeur?” she teased.

Barnaby grinned and played along. “Yeah, my boss pays me so little I can’t even afford to support a college student, so I have

to sneak out and make some extra cash on the side.”

“Too bad for you, I’m broke. Guess I’ll just hitch a free ride,” Hannah teased, playing along.

“No cash? That’s fine. You can pay me another way,” Barnaby grinned, leaning in and pointing at his lips. “How about a kiss?”

“She put her hand on his face and pushed him back. “Eyes on the road.”

Barnaby let out a low laugh, gently took her hand away from his face, and kissed the back of it. “So, what do you feel like cating tonight?”

“Gonna have dinner at Scott Villa,” Hannah replied, checking her phone and spotting a message from Arthur.

Besides, she needed to pick up Barnaby’s meds anyway, time to finally wrap up his treatment for good.

“Alright.” Barnaby said, spinning the wheel and making a U-turn.

Hannah shot back a quick reply to Arthur, then looked up and realized they weren’t heading toward Scott Villa. “Where are we going?” she asked.

Just gotta grab something real quick,” Barnaby replied.

An hour later, Hannah and Barnaby stepped out of the mall, with Ronin and a bodyguard in a suit and sunglasses trailing behind them, both arms loaded down with shopping bags.

They had everything from health supplements for the elders to video game consoles for the kids, basically, gifts for every age group in the family.

“Can’t show up at your place empty-handed,” Barnaby said, noticing Hannah’s confusion and explaining himself.

Hannah just stared at him, speechless.

“It’s not like it’s your first time at my place,” she said.

Barnaby nodded. “Exactly, so I gotta make up for it with some gifts and leave a good impression on your family.”

“Oh, you mean that ‘great impression’ you made by pulling a gun the first time you showed up? Or was it when you crashed our family vacation without shame?” Hannah teased.

Barnaby was speechless.

“Tsk, no wonder you said my brother acts like you’re some kind of threat, he just doesn’t like you,” Hannah added, twisting the knife a little more before hopping into the passenger seat.

He slid into the driver’s seat, reached over and gave Hannah a playful rub on the head. “Doesn’t matter if your brother likes me or not. As long as you’re the one who likes me, that’s all I need.”
