“Move aside! If anything happens to my Mom, that girl from the Scott family won’t escape responsibility. I’ll see to it that she’s prosecuted,” Teresa snapped, her performance as the devoted daughter-in-law flawless.
Owen stiffened at her words, but he stayed put, blocking the doorway, unwilling to move.
“Drag him out!” Benedict barked at the butler.
“Sorry about this, Owen,” the butler said, waving over two bodyguards to haul Owen away.
Wolfram raised a hand, stopping them. “Let him go.”
‘Dad’s got my back!’ Owen thought, his heart leaping with hope. ‘If he trusts Hannah too, Grandma can hang in there until tomorrow and finally get her medicine.
Benedict frowned, and Teresa, never one to back down from drama, pressed, “So what, Wolfram, are you going to stand in our way too?”
Wolfram trusted Hannah, but right now, just saying he believed in her wouldn’t cut it.
“Move aside. Can’t you hear me?” he said to Owen.
“Dad?” Owen blurted out, totally confused.
Wolfram’s face was grim as he pulled Owen aside. Just as Owen was about to resist, Wolfram leaned in and whispered, “Go get Hannah.”
Owen froze for a second, then it hit him what his dad was really up to.
If the bodyguards dragged him out, he’d be under constant watch. But with his dad stepping in, he wouldn’t end up locked
away.
He nodded and slipped out while everyone was distracted.
Dr. June walked in, looked Pamela over, and shook his head.
“I’m afraid it’s too late. The fluid has been pressing on her blood vessels for far too long, and most of the cells in her legs are dead.
“The only thing left is amputation, but with her age, the surgery is incredibly risky. Honestly, your best bet is to call back the Nameless Healer and see if she has any miracle up her sleeve,” Dr. June said.
That was as good as a death sentence for Pamela, and Benedict’s expression turned stormy.
“Daisy’s not even in Brynlock right now. And even if she were, there’s no guarantee she’d agree to treat my Mom again. But I’ll do my best to convince her to come by,” Teresa sighed.
Then she gave Wolfram and Mavis a withering glare. “Are you happy now?”
Wolfram stayed silent, and Mavis’s lips parted, but no words came out.
“Let’s solve the problem first, then deal with responsibility,” Benedict said, his expression stormy.
He was always strict about family rules, fair and impartial. Even if it was his own son who made a mistake, he’d still same thing.

Teresa’s eyes flashed with cunning. If she could pin Pamela’s death on Wolfram and Mavis, they’d be finished for good.

With the Croft family’s limited medical resources, Dr. June had no choice but to contact the hospital and arrange for Pamela to be transferred there for further observation and treatment.
Just as the medical staff was about to leave, Wolfram noticed Owen still hadn’t returned and stopped them. “Wait a little longer.”
“Wait for what?” Benedict asked.
“Hannah will be here any minute,” Wolfram replied.
Teresa snapped, “Mom’s already like this because of her, and you still trust her? Do you really have to wait until Mom’s gone before you face the truth?”
Wolfram said seriously, “I’m putting every share I own in the Croft family on the table. Just give Hannah one last chance. If she fails, we’ll walk away from the Croft family with nothing to our name.”
Mavis was stunned and tugged at his sleeve.
‘Sure, I like Hannah, Mavis thought, ‘but risking everything for her? That’s just going way too far!
Teresa had been waiting for this moment. Inside, she was thrilled, but on the surface, she kept up her flawless facade.
“You’re gambling with Mom’s life!” she snapped.
Benedict was stunned. His younger brother had always been the cautious one. ‘Just what kind of person could make Wolfram put Mom’s life on the line?’ he wondered.
He was well aware just how dire his mother’s situation was. Dr. June was highly respected in the medical field, and his diagnoses were almost never wrong.
Sending her to the hospital now just meant waiting for Daisy to change her mind and come back, or hoping to find a miracle worker even better than the Nameless Healer.
After thinking it over for a moment, Benedict finally spoke up.
“Give it half an hour. If Hannah’s not here by then, we’ll move her to the hospital and call Daisy,” he said.
As soon as he relented, Dr. June and the rest of the medical staff all breathed a collective sigh of relief.
With Pamela in this state, whether they operated or not, she was doomed, nothing could save her now.
Sending her to the hospital was just doing the dirty work no one wanted, and if they slipped up, they’d be out of a job and on the Croft family’s blacklist.
Since Hannah started this whole disaster, it was only fair she had to deal with the fallout.
Teresa was practically giddy inside, itching for Hannah to show up and mess things up so badly that Pamela died, Wolfram and Mavis got kicked out with nothing, and the Croft family would be all hers. Three birds with one stone, couldn’t get any
better.
Everyone was waiting for Hannah to arrive, each with their own schemes and motives swirling in their heads.
When Dr. June caught sight of Hannah, whatever hope he had left vanished on the spot.
“This is it? Seriously?’ he scoffed inwardly.
‘Is she even an adult?’ he thought, eyeing her with disbelief.

Chapter 179
‘Honestly, they’d be better off begging Daisy Reese for help,’ he thought, shaking his head.
Led by Owen, Hannah walked into Pamela’s room, looking totally unfazed.
She checked out Pamela’s swollen legs, then rested her slender fingers on the old lady’s wrist and frowned.
The way the illness looked wasn’t what she’d pictured at all.
“How did this happen?” she asked Flora.
As soon as she asked, everyone in the room just lost all hope.

‘Seriously? She doesn’t even know what happened? We waited for this? Guess we’ll be the ones cleaning up again, they thought.
“You’ve got some nerve asking that! If you hadn’t talked my Mom into stopping her meds, would we be in this mess now?” Teresa snapped.
She was dying to pin the blame on Hannah right then and there.
“Shut up. I wasn’t talking to you,” Hannah said, giving Teresa a cold, dismissive glare.
Medical staff were stunned.
‘She might not know how to treat anyone, but she’s got guts!’ they thought.
Seeing that, Mavis was giving Hannah 36 thumbs up in her head.
Within the Croft family, she had to stick to the rules and always show respect to her elders. That was precisely why she never dared to talk back to Teresa, she couldn’t risk giving her any leverage.
But Hannah wasn’t part of the Croft family, so she didn’t have to play by their rules!
“You…” Teresa started, her eyes narrowing in anger.
Wolfram cut her off before she could finish. “Teresa, can you just keep quiet and let Hannah work?”
As the Croft family’s matriarch, Teresa had never been treated like this. She was dying to put Hannah in her place, but for now, she had to grit her teeth and let it slide, business came first.
“Go ahead,” Hannah said, glancing over at Flora.
“Mrs. Pamela Croft stopped all her medication just like you told her, and things got this bad,” Flora explained.
“Are you absolutely sure she stopped everything?” Hannah asked.
“I’m sure. Recently, the only medicine she took was what Daisy prescribed, and she quit all of it,” Flora confirmed.
