Chapter 184
“Hannah, you haven’t had breakfast yet, have you?” Mavis said.
She smiled and moved closer, pushing Teresa aside and handing Hannah a plate of pastries.
“I brought you some pastries. Have a few to tide you over,” she said warmly.

“Mavis, what are you trying to do? I was here first,” Teresa snapped, her face darkening as she shoved Mavis back.
Mavis refused to back down, her smile tight as she gritted her teeth. “Teresa, that’s not fair. Owen and Hannah knew each other before you did.”
The two women kept jostling each other, as if Hannah was some prize they both wanted to win.
At five in the morning, Pamela woke up. The top international rheumatologists Benedict had contacted the night before
rushed in to examine her.
To everyone’s shock, Pamela’s severe rheumatoid arthritis had actually improved, it was now only at the early stage. It was nothing short of a miracle.
That was when everyone realized Hannah was truly skilled in medicine, and she was even more impressive than Daisy.
Teresa became even more determined to claim Hannah for herself.
Hannah was totally clueless about their little rivalry. She just stepped aside and slipped past the two women.
Flora stood off to the side, watching the whole scene. She couldn’t help but cough awkwardly, trying to remind them. ‘Ladies, maybe keep it classy, huh?”
“Hannah, come here. Sorry you had to witness that. These two are both trying to snatch you up as their future daughter-in- law,” Pamela said with a warm chuckle, waving Hannah over from her spot propped up in bed.
Hannah was stunned.
‘Seriously, that’s so unnecessary,’ Hannah thought wryly.
“Enough with the drama! Out, both of you!” Benedict barked as he walked in.
Mavis shot Teresa a glare and slunk out, clearly annoyed.
She was convinced Teresa was just trying to steal Hannah from her on purpose.
Teresa smirked, clearly pleased with herself. She totally did it on purpose.
After checking Pamela’s pulse, Hannah said, “Nothing major to worry about now. Just make sure you take your meds on time and take good care of yourself for the next three months, your condition will gradually improve.”
“Hannah, you really are amazing, even better than Daisy. My legs feel so much lighter now,” Pamela said, squeezing Hannah’s hand happily.
“Do you still have any of the medicine Daisy prescribed for you?” Hannah asked.
“Yeah, Flora, go grab it,” Pamela called out to Flora.
Flora nodded and went to another room, coming back with a big bag of medicine.
Hannah took the bag and glanced through it. It was mostly just regular rheumatoid meds, nothing special.

Just as she was about to hand it back, she spotted a plain white bottle at the bottom with no label. She pulled it out, opened it, and tipped out a few black pills.
“These are the special pills Daisy sent over. She said Pamela should take them for a week, but Pamela only took them for two days before you told her to stop, so the rest are still here,” Flora explained.
Hannah raised an eyebrow. ‘So this is Dai
knockoff of my special medicine?’ she thought.
She remembered what Axel had said about someone already putting her special formula into production. She hadn’t had a chance to check who it was, but now she knew exactly who it was.
She crushed one of the pills between her fingers, brought it up to her nose, and her brows knit together.
“That medicine really worked wonders. My knees stopped hurting right away after I took it,” Pamela said.
‘Figures, Hannah thought. “This knockoff uses almost all the same herbs as my formula, but the most important part is different, Daisy swapped out the Obsidian Pearl for poppy juice!’
Poppy juice was used medicinally to numb pain and induce unconsciousness, but excessive consumption led to lifelong addiction. It served as the primary base ingredient for opium production.
‘Daisy actually used something this dangerous, and in such a strong dose? She even told Pamela to take it for a whole week. That’s not healing, it’s straight-up hurting people!’ Hannah fumed to herself.
‘Is Daisy really using my reputation to treat people like this?’ Hannah thought, her anger simmering.
‘Saving lives, not harming them, that’s where I draw the line, Hannah told herself, jaw clenched.
“Is there a problem with that medicine?” Benedict asked, catching the shift in Hannah’s expression.
His eyes locked onto the pills in her hand.
Hannah composed herself and put the pills back in the bottle. “It’s fine. I’ll hold onto these. Just don’t go taking random meds anymore, okay?”
Pamela noticed the flash of anger in Hannah’s eyes and seemed to catch on, but she just kept up her cheerful smile as she spoke.
“I won’t take any more of those pills. From now on, I’ll only use the medicine you give me,” she said.
Then she turned to Benedict, her face suddenly serious. “I heard you made things difficult for Hannah while I was unconscious. You owe her an apology, and make sure you pay her for her treatment.”
Benedict didn’t waste any time. He put his fists together and said to Hannah, “Hannah, I’m sorry for how I acted before.
“You saved my mom, and that makes you a huge benefactor to our family. If you ever run into trouble, just come to us, whatever you need, we’ve got your back…”
“Oh, enough with all that talk. If you really want to thank her, just hand her a check for tens of millions or something,” Pamela interrupted.
Pamela remembered Hannah had mentioned she was short on cash before, so at the very least, they had to make sure she got paid.
Hannah didn’t know what to say.
“Mom, we’re not supposed to be so tacky,” Benedict said, then grabbed a check from his assistant and handed it to Hannah with both hands. “Hannah, here’s a little something for your medical help. Please take it.”

Hannah glanced at the amount, ten million. ‘Nice,’ she thought, and took it without batting an eye.
“I’ll drop off the rest of the medicine later,” Hannah said.
“Sure, appreciate it.” Benedict replied.

Then he had the staff bring in breakfast. Hannah hung out in Pamela’s room, keeping her company and having breakfast together.
Pamela was so gentle and sweet, Hannah couldn’t help but think of her grandma.
Ever since her grandma took Susie back to the mountains, she never called Hannah first. Hannah would call sometimes, but the conversations were always super short, her grandma would just say she was busy and hang up.
After breakfast, Pamela let out a heavy sigh.
“Mrs. Pamela Croft, what’s wrong?” Hannah asked.
Pamela looked at Hannah and sighed again. “That boy Owen… Such a shame. Of all the things he could’ve liked, he just had to be into men. Otherwise, you would’ve been the perfect granddaughter-in-law for me.”
“Well, I do have a boyfriend,” Hannah replied.
“Wait, you actually have a boyfriend?!” Pamela exclaimed, her eyes wide in shock,
She immediately started grilling Hannah, “So, which guy is it? Is he treating you right? Is his family loaded? If he’s broke, just kick him to the curb. Owen’s off the table, but hey, the Croft family still has Magnus!”
Hannah hesitated for a moment, then said quietly, “Barnaby Thole.”
Suddenly, a loud crash came from behind the folding screen, cutting off their conversation.
Flora rushed out and, seeing who was there, gasped, “Owen? Mr. Scott?!”
Owen had just walked in with Arthur, just in time to overhear the conversation. Owen was so shocked he bumped into a vase and sent it crashing to the floor.
