The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20

“Hannah, you’re here? Come on, sit down and have some coffee,” Jett greeted her warmly with a bright smile.

“Hannah, I’ve already taken care of your enrollment paperwork. Want me to show you to Class I?” Lyra stepped forward, flashing an ingratiating smile.

Hannah glanced coldly at Lyra. The flattering smile was a complete contrast to the aggressive attitude Lyra had shown yesterday. Hannah couldn’t help but smirk inwardly.

Jett and Lyra’s sycophantic behavior left Dorian and Susie dumbfounded.

‘What? Is the enrollment already done? Didn’t Hannah skip the exam? How is she even in Class 1?’ they thought.

“Mr. Drumm, are you sure there’s no mistake?” Dorian asked in disbelief.

“What mistake?” Jett snapped back impatiently.

“Didn’t they say Hannah skipped the exam? How is she in Class 1 then?” Dorian pressed.

Jett noticed Dorian’s cluelessness; he had no idea about Hannah’s real test scores.

Hannah exuded a chill, as if what they were talking about didn’t concern her at all.

Just like yesterday, no matter how harsh Lyra’s words were, Hannah never bothered to defend herself with a single word.

Jett had thought she was timid.

But to everyone’s surprise, Hannah had taken four subject exams in just two test sessions, and aced every single one.

‘This isn’t timidity at all. It’s pure confidence from a genius, Jett thought, both shocked and secretly relieved that he hadn’t offended this academic prodigy yesterday.

Dorian, as her guardian, was clueless about Hannah’s scores and still believed the rumors.

Jett’s anger flared. He demanded sharply, “Who spread the rumor that Hannah skipped the exam?”

Dorian looked even more bewildered. He glanced at Susie, who jumped nervously, then blankly looked at Lyra. “I don’t know.

“But yesterday, Ms. Miller told me to find Hannah because she said Hannah skipped the exam.”

Lyra immediately denied it, eager to avoid blame. “I never said Hannah skipped the exam.”

Dorian didn’t care how the rumor started.

What mattered more was whether Hannah’s grades could save face for him.

“So, Mr. Drumm, what scores did Hannah get?” Dorian asked, his tone softening instantly after having just criticized her.

Jett, familiar with this kind of hypocritical attitude, deliberately called him out. “Mr. Scott, I’ve heard you’re known for your kindness, a harmonious family man who cherishes his children.

“But from what I’m seeing today, it seems quite different from the stories. You don’t even know your own daughter’s academic performance.”

Dorian blushed fiercely.

He cared about his reputation and hated being criticized, especially so publicly. He felt so uncomfortable that he almost lost his temper.

But he held back, awkwardly rubbing his nose. “Hannah just came to our home recently. I’m still getting to know her. Sorry about that.”

Maybe it was because of Hannah’s scores that Jett felt pity for her, realizing she had been adopted by such a disappointing family.

He deliberately raised his voice. “Hannah’s entrance exam?”

Jett took a dramatic breath. “She scored full marks in all four subjects.”

“What?” Susie exclaimed in disbelief.

“Full marks?” Dorian repeated in surprise.

“This year’s entrance test was harder than previous years.

“But Hannah, with just two test sessions, completed four subject papers and scored full marks, setting a new record at Cavalor School,” Jett said proudly.

“Hannah came from the slums. There’s no way she’s the genius people talk about on the forum.

“Are you sure you’re not mistaken?” Susie refused to accept it, almost shouting.

Last night, a post suddenly appeared on the school forum about a genius who completed four subjects in two test sessions.

That

post buried the anonymous mocking comments aimed at Hannah.

Everyone was guessing who this mysterious genius could be.

Susie had stayed up all night scrolling through the posts, eager to find out the genius whom the whole school was praising, but never found anything.

And now Jett was telling her that Hannah was that mysterious genius.

‘No. This has to be fake. I can’t accept it,’ Susie thought. ‘How could a girl from a poverty-stricken school in the slums be a genius?’

She recalled the sample test packets she had prepared for Hannah before, packets Hannah never took. Later, Susie had no idea what happened to them.

‘Maybe Hannah stole them? Otherwise, how could she have scored full marks?’ Susie wondered.

“Hannah, I’m sorry. Yesterday was my fault. Can you forgive me?” Suddenly, Lyra bowed to Hannah in front of everyone.

Lyra never expected this girl from the slums to be a genius.

Though reluctant to accept it, reality forced her to swallow her pride and become the person she hated most, bowing and flattering someone she disliked.

Compared to working at Cavalor, pride was useless.

After all, if Cavalor got fired by Cavalor School, her teaching career would be over. No school would dare hire someone dismissed by Cavalor.

She wasn’t even qualified to beg Barnaby for help, so her only shot was to beg Hannah for forgiveness.

Neither Susie nor Dorian expected Lyra to bow and apologize to Hannah; they were stunned.
