The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 205

Chapter 205 Learning And Growing Together

Chapter 205 Learning And Growing Together

The next day.

Hannah slept in until late morning. When she finally woke up, her head was pounding.

She vaguely remembered going out for drinks with Candy at a bar last night… Then she thought she’d run into some hot guy… And then, did she really go home with him?

She shot up in bed, glancing around. When she realized she was back in her room at the courtyard house, she let out a sigh of relief. But then it hit her, how did she even get home?

Hannah’s mind raced. ‘Wait, did I actually bring some guy home last night?’ Panic started to bubble up inside her.

She glanced down and realized she was already dressed in her pajamas. ‘Seriously? Did someone help me change?”

Her heart thudded. ‘Did I really drag a guy back here?’ she thought, feeling more and more freaked out.

Without wasting a second, she snatched up her phone and dialed Candy, her voice trembling as she waited for her friend to pick up.

The phone rang for ages, and just as it was about to cut off, a man finally picked up.

“Who the hell is this? If you’ve got something to say, say it quick. Don’t mess with my sleep!” the guy snapped.

His voice was thick with sleep, and he sounded seriously annoyed at being woken up.

Hannah recognized that voice right away. “Tristan?”

Tristan, still half-asleep, didn’t even realize he’d picked up the wrong phone. “Hey, Hannah, what’s up?”

Hannah was speechless.

‘Since when did those two become a thing?’ she thought, totally baffled.

She reminded him coolly, “I called Candy’s phone.”

Tristan paused, glanced at the screen, and realized he’d grabbed the wrong phone. He tossed it to the woman beside him. Hey, babe, your phone.”

Candy got woken up by the phone smacking her in the face. She groggily picked it up, and when she saw Hannah’s name on the screen, she jolted awake.

“Hannah, let me explain…” Candy blurted out, her voice full of panic.

Hannah didn’t want to hear any excuses. She cut her off. “How did I get home last night?”

“Barnaby took you home,” Candy said quickly.

Hannah’s heart sank. “Wait, did you call him to come get me?”

“No, I swear…” Candy started nervously recounting all the ridiculous things Hannah did last night.

Stone-faced, Hannah hung up and pressed her palm to her forehead.

‘Drinking always leads to trouble. It just makes me lose all common sense, Hannah thought, feeling totally defeated.

After getting up and washing up, Hannah stuck a couple of acupuncture needles in herself, and her hangover disappeared

just like that. She changed clothes and wandered into the main hall, taking her time with breakfast.

“Hannah, there’s a little boy in the front hall looking for you. He says he’s your brother,” Chloe said as she walked in.

Hannah set down her fork and wiped her mouth with a napkin. “Bring him in.”

“Okay,” Chloe replied.

Chloe went out and came back a moment later, with Lucian trailing behind her, his heavy backpack slung over his shoulder. “Hannah, I brought your computer over. Seriously, how did you even put this together? I tried everything and mine just won’t work,” Lucian said, dropping his backpack onto the coffee table,

He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a laptop, plus a half-assembled one that looked like a DIY project gone

wrong.

Hannah had just sat down to check out the half-finished laptop when Barnaby walked out of the study. He spotted the laptop parts on the table and couldn’t help but take a closer look.

It was obviously a custom-built laptop, and the Successfully unlocked! tricky. Unless you were some kind of tech

genius, there’s no way you could pull off a build tiketu

“Did you pick out these specs?” he asked, looking at Hannah.

Hannah suddenly felt like this half-assembled laptop was burning a hole in her hands. ‘Great, now this thing feels like a ticking time bomb, she thought, feeling the pressure.

‘I didn’t even come up with a fix last night before I crashed. Way to embarrass myself, Hannah mentally groaned.

“Yeah, pretty cool, right?” Lucian boasted, his face full of pride. “I even used the list you wrote to swap parts with the computer shop owner…”

Hannah cut him off. “I just snagged a list off some hacker forum.”

Lucian was speechless.

‘Wait, you just grabbed a random list?’ Lucian thought, totally stunned.

‘A pirated list and I actually scored two sets of parts?’ he wondered, still in disbelief.

‘Is the computer shop owner an idiot, or am I just clueless?’ Lucian thought, baffled.

“Hacker forum? Are you trying to learn hacking?” Barnaby caught on immediately, his eyes sharp.

Hannah was about to deny it, but then she thought, ‘Keeping my identity a secret forever isn’t really working.’

Ever since she got together with Barnaby, they’d been practically glued to each other, and she barely had any privacy left. Back when they used to live together, each of them had their own room. She could shut the door, do her own thing, and nobody would be the wiser.

But now, sharing a room meant she had to constantly watch her back in case he saw something pop up on her screen. Instead of stressing herself out trying to hide everything, she figured she might as well play it off like she was just a newbie. Besides, Shadow had her main account locked down, so she had to start over with a fresh one anyway.

With that in mind, Hannah replied, “Yeah.”

“Then you should start with programming. Python’s a great place to begin. It’s a computer programming language that’s really beginner-friendly,” Barnaby said casually.

Hannah looked at him in surprise. “You actually know about this?”

Barnaby paused, realizing how naturally it came out. “I thought about learning it before, so I did some research.”

“Oh? Did you ever actually learn it?” Hannah asked.

“…Nope,” Barnaby admitted, sounding a little sheepish.

“Why not?” Hannah asked.

“Didn’t want to end up bald,” Barnaby joked.

Hannah eyed his thick, short hair, completely speechless.

Barnaby was already feeling guilty for not being honest with Hannah last night and lying to her, and now he’d just lied again, making him feel even worse.

‘Since Hannah wants to get into hacking, maybe I could make it up to her by playing along and acting like I’m learning too,’ he thought.

‘Then I’ll just “accidentally” turn into a genius and show her the ropes, he mused, a sly grin tugging at his lips.

Thinking that, he said, “If you want to learn, I can learn together with you.”

Hannah was speechless.

‘Thanks, but no. I was just trying to look cool, not actually learn anything,’ she thought.

Hannah shot back, “Not worried about going bald anymore? I’m a total sucker for looks, you know. Bald guys just aren’t my type.”

Barnaby was speechless.

‘Come on, how can you not get it? The bald thing was just an excuse, Barnaby thought, rolling his eyes internally. “Who cares? As long as you’re here,” he said with a teasing grin.

Hannah was speechless.

‘Since my boyfriend wants to learn too and grow together, I guess I should just go along with it, Hannah thought. Worst case, she’d just refresh her basics, then put on her usual “genius at first glance” act, pretend she picked it up instantly, claim she had it down, and then give her boyfriend a hand so he wouldn’t get stuck or waste time. So, these two hacker pros, each with their own secret plan to help the other out, cheerfully agreed to learn together.

“I wanna learn too!” Lucian shouted, waving his hand excitedly.

There’s no way I’m missing out on something this cool, hacking is just awesome!

Once he got the hang of it, he’d leave his genius brother and his prodigy sister in the dust, and take the Scott family’s legend in Brynlock to a whole new level!

No sooner said than done. The three of them wasted no time and marched straight to the bookstore, each picking out a book for themselves.

That afternoon, the spring sunlight streamed in, warm and gentle.

Hannah, Barnaby, and Lucian grabbed their laptops and programming books, then plopped down together in the west wing’ s main hall, ready to dive into learning.

Lucian waited for a while, but no teacher showed up. Finally, he couldn’t help but ask, “Are we just supposed to figure this out on our own?”

“What else did you expect?” Barnaby shot back.

Lucian blinked, a little lost. “Shouldn’t we get a hacker teacher or something?”

He could read every word in the book, but put them together and it was like reading a foreign language. ‘Seriously, don’t we need someone to show us what’s going on?’ he thought.

“If you can’t keep up, then just quit,” Barnaby scoffed.

‘This stuff is so basic, I could do it with my eyes closed. Seriously, who needs a teacher for this?’ he thought, a smug grin on his face.

Lucian was lost for words.

He glanced over at Hannah, thinking, ‘Sure, my sister’s a genius, but hacking’s a whole different ball game. Even she probably needs someone to show her the ropes, right?’

But to his surprise, Hannah was carefully following the book’s instructions, typing code into her laptop with total focus.

Lucian was speechless.

‘Is there something wrong with my brain?’ he wondered, feeling totally lost.
