The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 207

Chapter 207 Picking A Fight

Chapter 207 Picking A Fight

Hannah was holding her phone, checking her messages. The previous one was from Ethan, with the test results.

Last time, she’d sent the pills she’d taken from Pamela to Ethan, asking him to test them for poppy content.

The results showed the levels were way over the limit.

The next message was from Van, saying Daisy’s miracle drug had just gotten the green light from the drug administration.

Even a drug with such blatant problems could get approved, just goes to show how deep the Reese family’s connections run with the drug administration.

“Where’s the doctor? Why isn’t she here?” The woman’s shrill voice yanked Hannah back to reality.

Hannah put away her phone and took a seat at the clinic desk. “I’m the doctor.”

The woman stared in disbelief. “You? You’re Doctor Carter? You’re just a little brat!”

“My grandmother’s not feeling well today, so I’m covering for her,” Hannah explained.

“You? Do you even know how to treat patients? If Doctor Carter isn’t working today, why bother opening at all? Letting some kid who barely looks old enough to be here see patients. If something goes wrong, who’s taking responsibility?” the woman shrilled.

By now, patients with appointments were starting to arrive in the lobby. Seeing the commotion, they all frowned and started talking over each other.

“Doctor Carter isn’t here today? Why didn’t anyone tell us ahead of time? We made the trip for nothing,” one patient complained.

“It’s so hard to get an appointment here, and the fees are outrageous. I finally managed to get in because of Doctor Carter, and now you’re just sending some kid to see us? Who do you think you’re fooling?” another patient snapped.

“We’ll report you to the health department if you keep this up!” someone else threatened.

Hannah was speechless.

Chloe rushed out to smooth things over. “Hey, don’t be mad, okay? Hannah’s our boss, and she’s been learning from Ms. Carter since she was little.

“She’s got serious skills, trust me. She knows her stuff and you’ll be in good hands. But if you really want Ms. Carter herself, just come back tomorrow.”

Some of the patients in the lobby quieted down, while others just turned and walked out. But the woman in the exam room kept making a fuss.

“So what if she’s the boss? It’s not hard to open clinic if you’ve got cash. But do you even have a real medical license? I’m here for Doctor Carter, not some kid…” she snapped.

Hannah, fed up with her yapping, cut her off. “Cut the crap. Are you here about your stomach issues or your gout?”

The woman froze, genuinely taken aback. “Wait, how’d you know I’ve got those issues?”

Because of her body type, she was on the plumper side, so most doctors never bought that she had stomach problems. Usually, folks with stomach issues end up looking gaunt, but no matter what she did, she just couldn’t shed the pounds.

“If you want treatment, sit down and stop fussing. You’re bothering everyone else,” Hannah said flatly.

Still doubtful, the woman handed her Thalvar bully to the servant behind her, sat down, and reluctantly held out her hand for Hannah to check her pulse.

After taking her pulse, Hannah said, “You’ve got a peptic ulcer, gout caused by high uric acid levels, and you’re dealing with obesity.”

The woman’s eyes widened in shock. That’s exactly what they told her at Grace Hospital!

She’d been popping pills for months, but her symptoms just kept coming and going, never really getting better. She was at

her wit’s end.

“Can you really fix me for good?” she asked, her tone suddenly meek.

Gone was the haughty attitude. Now she was all humble and submissive.

I

“It’s not a question of whether I can cure you. The real question is whethon feel like it,” Hannah said coolly.

Successfully unlocked!

She was sharp. She instantly realized Hannah was still ticked off because of her earlier drama.

But she figured, if Hannah could actually fix her up, saying sorry was no big deal.

So she put on a smile and said, “I’m really sorry. I’m just straightforward and sometimes speak before I think. Please don’t take it personally. If you can help me get rid of all these issues, I’ll make sure everyone knows how amazing your clinic is!” Hannah slipped on her gloves, nice and slow. “Go behind the curtain, lie down, and lift up your shirt.”

Half an hour later, the woman came out of the exam room, looking much healthier and more radiant than when she first

walked in.

The patients still waiting glanced over and asked, “Hey, how did it go?”

The woman gave a big thumbs-up. “I was totally wrong about that girl. She’s amazing! Honestly, she’s way better than the doctors at Grace Hospital. After just a few needles, my stomach stopped hurting right away!”

Hearing that, the patients waiting felt their worries instantly melt away.

“Mrs. Thompson, your herbal tonic is still simmering. Feel free to wander the nearby streets and come back in an hour to take it, or just hang out here,” the nurse said.

“Can’t I just take it home and brew it myself?” she asked.

“Sorry, but our clinic has a strict rule, no taking the herbal tonic home. It’s to keep our secret recipes safe from being leaked or misused, and to help you recover faster. We’ll prepare it for you, so you just need to come back and drink it here,” the nurse explained.

She was a little annoyed by the hassle, but after feeling how effective Hannah’s needles were, she relented. “Alright, I’ll wait then.”

By noon, Hannah had just finished seeing her last patient of the morning and was abo

lunch when there was a sudden commotion outside.

Several men barged in, pushing past Joe Jones who tried to block their way.

to wrap things up and grab some

The guy in front had short, spiky burgundy hair, a lip ring, and his ears were loaded with studs. He was rocking a sleek black leather jacket that screamed money, definitely giving off spoiled rich kid energy, swaggering around like he owned the place.

One of the nurses recognized him as Christopher Todd, the heir of the Todd family in Kinswood, and quietly told Hannah.

“Christopher, do you have an appointment? If not, get out,” Hannah said, her voice icy and her face blank.

When Christopher laid eyes on Hannah, his gaze instantly brightened. ‘Damn, this chick is exactly my style,’ he thought, unable to hide his interest.

Still, even with his mind wandering, he didn’t lose sight of his goal. He kicked a chair aside and barked, “Screw your appointments! Where’s Doctor Carter? Tell her to get her ass out here!”

Everyone in the clinic jumped at his outburst.

got something to say, just say it to me.”

Hannah’s gaze hardened. “Doctor Carter isn’t here today.”@

Christopher kicked the chair again. “So she screwed up and now she’s hiding, huh? Running away from her mess?”

“Hey, just talk, alright? No need to trash the furniture!” Joe winced, feeling a pang as he watched the redwood chair spin from the kick.

Hannah raised her hand. “It’s just a redwood chair, Christopher can easily pay for it. Let’s hear what he’s really here for.”

Her unfazed, steady demeanor made Christopher feel like his punches were landing on cotton. No matter how hard he tried, she just absorbed it all without flinching.

‘The cooler and more composed she acted, the more I just wanted to push her to the edge and see her finally break, Christopher thought, a wicked grin tugging at his lips.

“What kind of so-called miracle healer do you have here? Your doctor nearly killed my old man with her treatment! You better give me a damn explanation today, or I swear I’ll smash this place to pieces!” Christopher shouted, his voice echoing through the clinic.

Hannah shot Chloe a look, and Chloe quickly brought up the patient records.

Three days ago, Charles Todd-Christopher’s dad-had come in complaining about neck problems, cervical spondylosis.

Ms. Carter’s a pro. There’s no way she’d mess up something so routine.

“So what’s going on with your dad now?” Hannah asked.

“He’s flat on his back, can’t move at all!” Christopher shot back, pointing right at Hannah. “You’re coming with me, now, and you better give me some answers!”

Christopher was clearly trying to take Hannah back to his place, and God knows what kind of mess he was planning to stir up once she got there.
