Chapter 216 A High Pedestal
Chapter 216 A High Pedestal
“Stop!”
Suddenly, a man’s booming voice echoed through the banquet hall.
Everyone turned to see a man in a tailored suit, frameless glasses perched on his nose, who looked a lot like Daisy.
It was Darren Reese, the Reese family’s eldest son and future head.
The guest who was about to throw something at Daisy immediately stopped mid-action.
Daisy, nearly hopeless, spotted her big brother and finally saw a glimmer of hope. “Darren~”
Darren glanced at Daisy, who looked a total mess on stage, and frowned in disgust.
‘Where’s the dignity of the Reese family’s eldest daughter?’ he thought.
If she weren’t his own sister, and if it weren’t for the Reese family’s reputation, he honestly wouldn’t have bothered to stand up for her.
“It seems none of you have any respect for the Reese family,” Darren said, his expression turning cold as he swept his eyes across the crowd.
A few of the less influential guests visibly flinched under his icy gaze.
In their rage, they’d just grabbed whatever was nearby to throw, completely forgetting who they were dealing with, the Reese family.
Darren’s gaze finally landed on Hannah Carter. He marched over, looking all high and mighty. “Are you the one who started all this chaos?”
“Daisy totally deserved it! She got caught pretending to be someone else, and now she actually has the guts to drag her family into this?” Christopher sneered.
He instinctively stepped in front of Hannah to protect her, but she held him back.
“You don’t need to get involved anymore,” Hannah said softly to Christopher.
The Todd family might have some standing in Kinswood, but they were nothing compared to the Reese family. There was no reason for Christopher to risk making enemies with them over her… not that it mattered. They’d pretty much already made enemies anyway.
Christopher froze for a second. This was the first time a woman had ever put herself in front of him like that.
He ran his tongue over his lip ring, thinking, ‘Damn, I’m really starting to like this girl more and more.’
Seeing Hannah stand her ground without flinching, Darren couldn’t help but respect her a little more. He asked in a low, serious voice, “Do you even know who the head of the Reese family is?”
Hannah replied, “Yeah, I know.”
“You know, and you still dared to mess with her? Do you really think I can’t make you vanish right here, right now?” Darren threatened.
The Reese family had been a medical dynasty for over a century, ruling the medical world with an iron fist. The head of the Reese family had every hospital in the country at his fingertips.
If he said the word, a top-tier hospital would close its doors in a heartbeat, so what chance did a lone doctor have?
That’s why anyone in medicine knew better than to mess with the Reese family.
“I’ve met Dr. Reese before. I just never thought Daisy was his biological daughter,” Hannah said coolly.
Darren frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Dr. Reese is a true saint, kind, compassionate, and a master of medicine. He once risked his own life, testing dangerous drugs on himself, just to save kids in poor mountain villages from a mysterious poisoning.
“He even developed a vaccine and became a role model for the entire medical world,” Hannah continued.
“How could someone as noble and benevolent as Dr. Reese end up with a daughter as despicable and insane as Daisy? She actually gave illegal drugs to her patients!
“Do you really think the public would ever tolerate that? Do you think Dr Reese would ever stand for it? So, I just gave her a small lesson, nothing more,” Hannah said.

Everyone stared at Daisy Reese, who looked like sieu peen though hen, thinking, ‘Seriously? This is what she calls a ” small lesson”?”

But damn, that was satisfying.
Darren was left speechless.
‘So I’m supposed to thank you for this?’ he thought.
With Hannah putting him on such a high pedestal in front of everyone, Darren found himself completely at a loss for how to deal with her.
If he really did anything to Hannah now, wouldn’t that be like publicly trashing the reputation she just gave his father?
If that happened, it wouldn’t just be Daisy causing trouble. It would put the entire Reese family’s reputation at stake.
= = ~
It wasn’t worth risking the whole family’s reputation over something so trivial. At this point, Daisy could only grit her teeth and endure the humiliation in silence.
“Apologize, now!” Darren snapped at Daisy, spinning around to face her.
Daisy was totally shell-shocked.
She was kneeling on the stage, covered in excrement, spilled booze, and fruit peels from head to toe, stinking so bad it was hard to even look at her.
Meanwhile, Hannah was standing among the guests, with everyone practically fawning over her.
Talk about night and day.
In just one short hour, their status and reputation had been completely flipped upside down.
Daisy was pissed, defeated, and just couldn’t accept how things turned out.
The stage she’d set up herself ended up dressing someone else for success, and now it was her own grave.
She’d grown up as the pride of the Reese family, known as a genius in the medical world, and she’d always carried herself with pride and dignity.
But today, she’d sunk so low that even the so-called refined elites of high society ‘couldn’t help but dump dog crap, booze, and fruit peels all over her. Now that’s what you call hitting rock bottom.
She hated. She hated with every fiber of her being.
She hated Hannah for not calling her out from the start, for letting her end up looking like a total fool in front of everyone. She hated all those people who thought she was the Nameless Healer, feeding her ego with endless praise and making her believe her own hype.
She even hated Hannah for playing the whole Nameless Healer game instead of just coming clean, making everyone mix them up..
So, as far as she was concerned, every bit of this mess was Hannah’s doing.
‘Apologize? Why should I? I didn’t do anything wrong!’ Daisy raged inside, refusing to back down.
She stubbornly told herself, ‘No, I’m not the one at fault!’
‘This is all Hannah’s fault!’ she seethed, resentment boiling over.
‘If Hannah hadn’t shown up, I wouldn’t be humiliated like this!’ Daisy thought bitterly, her anger reaching a fever pitch. “Apologize?” Daisy stood up, forcing out her trademark heiress smile.
But the way she smiled sent a chill down everyone’s spine.
Step by step, she walked off the stage, heading straight toward Hannah.
The stench was so foul that everyone nearby scrambled to get out of her way. Even Christopher and Darren took several steps back, covering their noses and looking absolutely disgusted.
But Hannah didn’t budge an inch, standing her ground like it was nothing.
Her guts made everyone in the room secretly impressed.
‘That’s the Nameless Healer for you. She’s on a whole other level!’ everyone thought.
“Alright, you want me to admit I was wrong? Here you go. I’m saying it right now,” Daisy sneered, her smile cold and twisted. Daisy’s eyes went cold as she picked up speed. No one even noticed when a scalpel had appeared in her hand. Suddenly, she lunged straight at Hannah, trying to stab her with it.
Hannah stood there, completely unfazed, as a rock suddenly flew from behind her and struck Daisy right in the knee.
With a loud thud, Daisy cried out in pain and faceplanted right in front of Hannah, the scalpel landing at Hannah’s feet.

Now that’s the proper way to admit you’re wrong. Hannah thought, her expression cold.
A deep, captivating male voice spoke up from behind.
Everyone turned as dozens of bodyguards marched into the banquet hall in perfect formation. They split into two lines, whipped out air fresheners, and sprayed the place down before stepping aside to welcome the final guest.
Barnaby Thole strode in, every inch the aristocrat, but the icy vibe he gave off made the whole room shiver.
Several women in the crowd gasped, whispering, “Bamaby.”
“So, the second thing you were about to announce, was it a marriage alliance with the Thole family?” Hannah asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she glanced down at Daisy, sprawled at her feet.
Hannah looked down at Daisy like she was just an ant on the ground.
“Ms. Reese, do you really think Barnaby would ever be interested in you, looking like this?” Hannah sneered.
Daisy’s head snapped up, and when she saw Barnaby, her face flushed bright red with a mix of shame and anger.
“Iris wasn’t lying. Barnaby really did show up, Daisy thought, her heart skipped a beat.
He was here, but he couldn’t have picked a worse time.
She’d worked so hard to become someone great, just so she could marry the man she loved when she was at her best.
But just as she reached the top, she crashed straight into the abyss.
The man Daisy loved, Barnaby, just stood off to the side, watching her most humiliating moment unfold, cold and unmoved, not even bothering to help.
“Doesn’t matter what she looks like, she’s definitely not the kind of girl I’d ever go for. Stay far away from her, the smell is killing me,” Bamaby said, his tone icy and full of disdain.
He walked right up, wrapped Hannah in his arms, and made sure to put as much distance between them and Daisy as possible, like he was dodging a biohazard.
