The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 219

Chapter 219 Not What He Expected

Chapter 219 Not What He Expected

The next day, before dawn, Christopher was already up.

He brushed his teeth, washed his face, spent some extra time styling his hair, spritzed on some cologne, grabbed his car keys, and headed to the flower shop to pick up the red roses he’d ordered the night before.

Then he drove straight to Ms. Carter’s clinic.

Today was the start of their romantic getaway, and he was determined to make the most of this week, hoping to win Hannah over as soon as possible.

He’d planned everything out, and now all he had to do was wait for Hannah to wake up. They’d grab breakfast together, then head to the airport at a leisurely pace to meet up with Candy.

Christopher whistled as he pulled up in front of the clinic, only to find the door still locked.

He checked his watch. It was seven. ‘No way Hannah’s still asleep, right?’ he thought.

He called her.

No answer. The call hung up by itself.

He tried again.

Still no answer. The call just ended on its own.

He tried a third time.

Finally, she picked up.

“Speak!” Hannah’s voice came through, raspy and half-asleep.

Christopher blurted out, “Don’t tell me you’re still in bed. This is our first date, can you at least put in a little effort?”

She hung up on him before he could even finish his sentence, the dial tone ringing in his ear.

Usually, he was the one hanging up on people. Now she’d flipped the script on him.

‘That’s exactly why I like her, Christopher thought, half annoyed, half impressed.

Christopher immediately called her back.

“Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off…” A recorded, mechanized voice informed him, the message looping coldly.

Christopher just stared at his phone, speechless.

His heart skipped a beat. ‘No way, did she just ghost me?’ he thought.

He couldn’t get through on the phone, and no one answered the doorbell. Christopher, who’d never had a bad day in his twenty-three years, was finally getting a taste of what it felt like to be left hanging.

He sat in his car, sending Hannah a voice message on WhatsApp.

“Just because you know I like you, you think you can get away with anything? Get your ass up and open the door! You’ve got three minutes. If you don’t open up, I’m breaking in!”

Three minutes ticked by.

The door didn’t budge, and there was still no reply to his message.

Christopher sent another voice message, “You girls always take ages with your makeup. Fine, ten more minutes, open up for me! Or I swear I’m busting down the door!”

Ten minutes later…

The door was still shut tight, and there was still no answer on WhatsApp.

Christopher had dated a bunch of girls before, but none of them had ever made him wait around like this.

“Alright, this is your last chance, thirty minutes!” he sent another voice message.

Half an hour later, Christopher was still standing in front of the clinic, trying to figure out how he could actually break in.

He’d already talked big, if he didn’t follow through now, he’d totally lose face.

Just then, Evelyn, Joe and Chloe showed up to Successfully unlocked! y with short, curly burgundy hair bent over,

“Christopher,” Chloe started to say.

“Thief!” Joe shouted.

Before Chloe could finish, Joe lunged forward and kicked Christopher right in the butt.

Christopher was caught off guard and slammed his forehead into the door with a dull thud.

“Shit! Are you freaking insane?” Christopher cursed loudly, clutching his forehead.

“Whoa, sorry, Christopher! I thought you were some thief!” Joe blurted out, scratching his head with an awkward grin.

Joe flashed a sheepish smile, showing off his bright white teeth.

“You’re the damn thief! Seriously, have you ever seen a thief this good-looking?” Christopher snapped back, still grumbling.

Christopher tried to kick Joe in retaliation, but Joe dodged him quick as lightning.

Seeing Christopher’s forehead all swollen, Evelyn hurried to unlock the door and rushed to get some ice to press on it for him.

Once they’d iced it, Chloe grabbed some medicated oil and massaged it in. The bump was gone in no time, leaving just a faint bruise that would fade away soon enough.

After all that drama, a whole hour had gone by before Hannah finally wandered out of the west wing, yawning, totally unfazed by the chaos.

She shot Christopher a lazy glance. “Isn’t our flight at 12:30? Why’d you show up so early? You just here to get beat up?”

“Seriously, all you do is sleep! Are you really that wiped out? Come on, you know you can sleep forever when you’re dead!” Christopher grumbled.

He rubbed his sore forehead, feeling extra salty that the cool hair he’d styled this morning was now a total mess thanks to the ice pack.

‘Man, if you’d just gotten up earlier, I wouldn’t be stuck looking like an idiot right now!’ he thought.

“Christopher, you should probably hold back a little,” Chloe advised. “Hannah usually works late, so she never gets up this early. Plus, if you wake her up, she gets super cranky in the morning.”

Christopher grumbled, “Fine, fine, just get yourself together. Let’s go eat breakfast and then head to the airport.”

“Christopher, you just banged your head, might have a mild concussion or something. Probably not a good idea to drive. Why don’t I come with you guys and take the wheel?” Joe offered.

Christopher shot him a suspicious look, thinking, ‘No way that kick was an accident.’

“No need! I’m totally fine!” Christopher snapped.

“Let Joe come along,” Evelyn said. “Anna doesn’t have a license, and Candy’s not much of a driver. You’ll be on the road for a long time, and driving all by yourself will wear you out. Joe can take over when you need a break.”

Evelyn was Hannah’s elder, so even though Christopher was annoyed, he had no choice but to agree, just to stay on her good side.

‘No doubt about it now, Joe did that on purpose, Christopher thought, feeling even more certain.

After breakfast, the three of them headed to the airport, met up with Candy, and boarded the plane.

Hannah just had a backpack, while Candy was lugging a massive suitcase.

When Christopher saw Joe helping Candy with her luggage and then ended up sitting with her, he thought, ‘Actually, having Joe around isn’t so bad. He can look after Candy, and I’ll have Hannah all to myself.’

He’d already arranged for two tents. If Joe hadn’t come, the girls might’ve freaked out about camping on the beach at night, and he’d be stuck in a tent by himself.

But now that Joe was here, Joe and Candy could bunk together, and he’d get to bunk with Hannah.

‘Perfect. Everything’s falling into place just like I planned,’ Christopher thought, feeling pretty pleased with himself.

Christopher gave his butt a quick rub and thought to himself, ‘Honestly, that kick was totally worth it.’

By 3 PM, the four of them had landed and met up at the airport exit.

“Once our ride gets here, we’ll head straight out. First stop: Cerulean Lake. We’ll watch the sunset, camp out by the lake, stargaze at night, and catch the sunrise in the morning,” Christopher said, sounding pretty pleased with himself.

“Wow, that’s so romantic!” Candy squealed, then turned to Hannah. “Hannah, are you cool with that?”

Hannah was still glued to her phone, barely looking up. “Sure, whatever,” she replied, not really bothered.

Seeing Hannah’s laid-back reply, Christopher smirked and licked his lip ring, thinking tonight’s tent situation was looking

He immediately called his buddy again, telling him to hurry up and bring the car over

Right then, a black George Patton six-seater SUV rolled up in front of them, and his buddy’s voice came through the phone We’re here, we’re here.”

“Anight, let’s got” Christopher said, hanging up and pulling open the car door. But when he looked node, he was formed Barnaby was just sitting there

“What are you doing here?” Christopher blurted out, totally blindsided. He rushed to yank open the driver’s side door

But it wasn’t his buddy at all, it was Tristan behind the wheel

“She” Christophe muttered under his breath. This is the wrong damn car…”

He turned around and saw Candy already calling shotgun, Hannah sliding into the middle seat, and Joe tossing his suitcase in the trunk before jumping into the back, leaving Christopher standing there all by himself

“You getting in or what? If you’re not, we’re outta here Tristan barked.
