Chapter 245 Did Everything Possible
Chapter 245 Did Everything Possible
Hedy snorted.
Locked outside, Hedy acted like it was guarding Hannah from any mischief Barnaby might try. It scrabbled at the door with surprising strength, making the door rattle with loud thumps.
“Keep it up and I’ll turn you into roast pork!” Barnaby barked.
The scratching stopped instantly, but Hedy’s muffled grumbling could still be heard from outside.
Barnaby was holding her down and it was getting uncomfortable. Hannah wanted to get up and check on Hedy, but when she tried, she realized her wrists were pinned tight, she couldn’t move at all.
She had no choice but to soften her tone. “Barnaby, can you let me go?”
But Barnaby didn’t loosen his grip. His voice was low and icy. “Do you even understand what it means to claim that identity again?”
He lowered his lashes, and his eyes were as cold and deep as a black lake, so unfamiliar, it was like she was looking at a stranger.
Hannah hadn’t expected him to get this angry. She tried to explain, “I asked that on purpose. I wanted Grandma to see how pissed off Susie got and finally see her true colors.
“Last time, Susie screwed Grandma over so badly. If Grandma doesn’t see who she really is, she’ll just get played again.” And honestly, she couldn’t resist taking a jab at Edmund’s little scheme while she was at it.
Hannah was sure that if she said yes to Edmund, tomorrow’s gossip would explode: [The Nameless Healer Is Actually the Thole Family’s Third Daughter!]
She wanted to go back to the Thole family to find out who hired the hitman to kill her adoptive mother.
Once she found the real culprit, she could finally clear her adoptive father’s name. But there were plenty of ways to get into the Thole family, she wasn’t about to give up her freedom just to be their so-called third daughter.
“So, can you not be mad at me, please…” Hannah pleaded.
Seeing that she still didn’t understand what was really eating at him, Barnaby lowered his head and claimed her lips in a fierce kiss.
This was nothing like their usual gentle kisses. It was punishing and dominating, leaving Hannah powerless and gasping
for air.
Just when she thought she might actually suffocate, Barnaby finally let her go, as if he’d decided to show her mercy. Their foreheads pressed together, and Barnaby stared into Hannah’s dazed eyes. “Do you get it now?”
“What?” Hannah was still reeling from that breath-stealing kiss, her mind totally blank.
‘What is he even talking about?’ she thought, confused.
‘What does he want me to say?’ she wondered.
Barnaby let out a mocking laugh and finally released her wrists, rising from her side.
Hannah scrambled up, ready to jump out of bed, but then she caught sight of the devilish grin curling on Barnaby’s otherwise cold face.
“Looks like you still don’t understand what your status is now,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.
His well-defined fingers began unbuttoning his shirt one by one his piercing gaze locked onto her like a hawk stalking its
prey.
Hannah gulped nervously, she’d never seen this side of Barnaby before.
He was even scarier than when he had one of his episodes. She was totally at a loss.
At least when he was having an episode, she could just stick him with a few needles.
But right now, he didn’t look sick at all. He looked more like some cold-blooded interrogator about to put her through hell. She’d heard stories about Barnaby’s ruthless methods back in the military, and the thought alone sent chills down her spine.
As Barnaby deliberately took off his shirt and Successfully unlocked! nnah instinctively reached for her side, only to

She quickly snatched up the shirt he’d tossed on the floor and tried to drape it over his shoulders, but as soon as he yanked his belt free, the shirt just slid right off.

With no other choice, she wrapped her arms around him, trying stop him from undressing any further.
“Barnaby, can we just talk, please? You don’t have to be so intere, okay?” she tried to sound gentle, hoping to calm him down.
Barnaby was a little thrown off by her soft, coaxing voice, but the ruthless look in his eyes didn’t budge. “Do you even know what your status is now?”
Hannah’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Wait, did Barnaby somehow figure out I’m Raven? Does he think I’ve been playing him for a fool with all that coding stuff?’ she thought, panicking.
But she’d only been using her alt account lately, she hadn’t logged in as Raven at all. No way he could’ve known.
“Aren’t I just the Nameless Healer?” she asked tentatively.
That wasn’t the answer Barnaby was looking for. His eyes grew even darker, and the whole room seemed to freeze over with his chilling presence.
Seeing this, Hannah reached up, arms winding around his neck, her fingers poised to strike the pressure point at the back, ready to knock him out. But before she could make a move, Barnaby’s hand twisted and caught her wrist in an iron grip. “Baby, instead of actually thinking about the question, what exactly is that restless little hand of yours trying to do?” Barnaby asked, his eyes half-lidded and predatory.
His voice was low and gentle, but every word carried a velvet threat.
Caught trying to pull a fast one, Hannah tried to bluff her way out. “You just looked tired, so I thought I’d give you a massage. Do you buy that?”
“Sure, I believe everything you say,” Barnaby replied, his voice gentle but with a dangerous edge that made Hannah shiver Then, with a sudden move, he pulled her into his arms and dropped her right back onto the bed.
“If you’re going to give me a massage, then you’d better do it right here, on the bed,” he said, his voice low and full of teasing promise.
“No… mmph…” Hannah tried to protest, but Barnaby silenced her with another fierce kiss.
Outside, Hedy heard all those weird sounds and Hannah’s muffled whimpers coming from the room. It went absolutely wild on the door, pounding away with its tiny hooves like it was ready to break in.
‘Roast me, grill me, whatever, just don’t you dare mess with my dwner, you bastard!’ Hedy fumed, determined to defend Hannah no matter what.

Late May in Kinswood, out of nowhere, a hailstorm came crashing down with a deafening clatter. All the flower buds in the yard were smashed to bits, petals and leaves strewn everywhere tangled up with icy debris, a mess of ruined blossoms and frozen chaos.
It wasn’t until the first light crept over the horizon that the wild hailstorm finally let up.
Inside the room, Barnaby, fully satisfied and possessive, pressed a claiming kiss to Hannah, who lay limp in his arms like a ragdoll after all he’d put her through.
He leaned in close, his voice low and intimate in her ear. “So, do you finally understand what your status is now?”
Hannah’s voice was hoarse, her whole body utterly spent, she was so exhausted she couldn’t even muster the strength to open her eyes.
Her lashes were wet, with traces of tears still clinging to the corners of her eyes. Her lips were deep red and utterly captivating, a far cry from her usual cool, untouchable aura, now she was vulnerable and breathtakingly beautiful
Barnaby was more than pleased to see her like this. No one else in the world would ever get to witness this side of her, this was a Hannah that belonged to him alone.
Feeling pretty pleased with himself, Barnaby decided to let her off the hook for now. He leaned in close, his voice low and intimate in her ear.
He said, “Baby, you’re mine, my girlfriend, and soon, my wife. If you go back to being the Thole family’s third daughter, you won’t be able to marry me. So you can’t say yes to Edmund’s request, you hear me?”
Hannah’s damp lashes fluttered. ‘Is that it? That’s what he’s hung up on?’ she thought, a little exasperated
Not like she ever cared about being the Thole family’s third daughter anyway. Even if she did take back that title, she was just the adopted one, there was zero blood between her and Bamaby.
He’d already done everything that was off-limits, and now he wanted to act all concerned about what people might think?
Honestly, she was starting to think Barnaby was just looking for excuses to torture her.
If Hannah had any strength left, she would’ve kicked this man straight off the bed.

Barnaby looked down at Hannah, who was completely still in his arms, fast asleep. He had no idea if she’d even heard a word he said.
He got up, carried her into the bathroom, helped her shower, the tucked her back into bed and pulled the covers up around her. Leaning down, he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. “Baby, I love you,”
