Chapter 264 Don’t Have A Girlfriend Anymore!

“But after we break up, I’m going to chase after you all over again,” Barnaby said.

Hannah blinked, not sure she’d heard right. “What?”

“I’m going to chase after you all over again,” Barnaby repeated. “This time, no more secrets, no more games.

“I want us to start fresh, just you and me, honest and real. We’ll get married, have kids, finish what we promised each other, keep hunting for those elements on the periodic table, and grow old together.”

Hannah couldn’t help but laugh, half exasperated, half amused. You really are something else. There are so many guys out there, why should I be hung up on you?”

Barnaby just smirked. “Yeah, there are plenty of men, but how many of them can you actually trust? Go ahead, try to find one. If you do, I’ll ruin him. Let’s see who dares to get close to you.”

“You…” Hannah felt like he’d just hit her right in her weak spot.

“Baby, you know I always keep my word. If you want to be with someone, then be with me for the rest of your life.

“If you’re mad, hit me, yell at me, stick me with needles, make me kneel on durians or keyboards, whatever you want, I’ll take

“Even if you don’t love me anymore, just don’t go looking for someone else. Otherwise, I really can’t promise I won’t do something crazy,” Barnaby said.

Hannah was left speechless, her heart racing for a few minutes before finally calming down.

“You’re just full of sweet talk! No matter what you say, you still played me before!

“I’m not holding the Vulcan thing against you, I never told you I was Raven, so we’re even on that. But the whole Scepter House Master thing? You straight-up lied to me, Barnaby!” she said.

Just thinking about how she’d run around like a fool, trying to find medicine for him, only for him to turn it into some kind of game, made Hannah’s anger flare up all over again.

Barnaby ducked his head, guilt written all over his face. “Yeah, I change. I’ll be a better man, I swear, never again,” he said.

“Sure, go fix yourself. With all those assistants, I’m pretty sure you don’t need me to send you the address of a prison,” Hannah shot back, heading to her desk and yanking out her flash drive.

Barnaby didn’t know what to say.

“Oh, and one more thing,” Hannah said, suddenly remembering something.

“Hmm?” Barnaby walked over, lips pressed together, standing at attention in front of her desk, he looked so well-behaved, it was almost comical.

“Be honest, how many exes have you actually had?” Hannah asked, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.

Barnaby met her gaze, dead serious. “I’m not making this up. You’ve been my one and only girlfriend, and that’s not changing, I’m sticking with you for life…”

“Spare me the sweet talk, you don’t even have a girlfriend now!” Hannah cut him off. “Seriously, where’d you learn all these lines? You’ve got a whole arsenal!”

Barnaby shrugged. “Self-taught, I guess?”

Hannah was speechless.

‘Wow, you really were born with a gift for this stuff, Hannah thought.

Hannah glanced at the clock, it was getting late. “Anything else you want to say? If not, go pack your bags.”

“You really want me to pack?” Barnaby was totally speechless. Man, she’s really got a cold heart, he thought.

“Weren’t you the one who said you’d respect my wishes?” Hannah shot back.

Barnaby knew he’d really hit her limit this time. Getting her to forgive him wouldn’t be easy, so he figured he’d have to bide his time and just go along with her for now.

As they left the office, the banquet hall was nearly cleared out. Barnaby took Hannah straight to the private elevator and down to the parking garage.

Hannah was about to pull out her phone to cal’ fa

“I’ll take you home,” he said.

‘y opened the passenger door, turning to her.

Successfully unlocked!

Before Hannah could even get her refusal out, Barnaby jumped, “I’m trying to win you back here, at least let me show you what I’ve got.”

Hannah couldn’t help but laugh, half exasperated, half amused. And what if I say no?”

“Then I’m not packing, and we’re not breaking up,” Barnaby said pulling his classic stubborn act. “Seriously, you…” Hannah was so speechless she could barely get the words out.

‘What is he, clingy as duct tape?’ Hannah thought.

‘Is this guy ever going to let go?

‘Does he really think I can’t deal with him?’ Hannah thought, rolling her eyes.

“Fine!” Hannah got in the car and gave him the address. “Just dve straight back to Kinswood.”

‘Tonight, he’s out of here!’ Hannah thought.

‘Hmph!’

Barnaby couldn’t help but smirk as he closed the door, walked around to the driver’s side, and fired up the engine.

Hannah sat in the passenger seat, texting Candy to vent, but Candy must’ve already crashed, no reply.

As Hannah waited, she realized all the emotional rollercoaster from tonight had really worn her out. Now that she was finally relaxing, she couldn’t help but feel drowsy.

Barnaby glanced over and saw her dozing off, her head tilted to the side. He let out a quiet sigh of relief, if she could fall asleep, at least she wasn’t too upset.

He reached over and turned up the heat, then slowed down, making sure to drive as smoothly as possible.

By the time they got back to the courtyard house, it was already one in the morning.

Seeing Hannah was still out cold, Barnaby got out, unlocked the door to the west wing, then came back to the passenger seat, unbuckled her seatbelt, and gently scooped her up.

Hedy heard the noise and darted out of the study. Barnaby, still holding Hannah, nudged it aside with his foot and whispered, “Move, don’t block the way.”

Hannah’s long lashes fluttered as she woke up, still groggy. She saw Barnaby holding her, but before she could fully process it, she snuggled into his solid chest, about to drift back to sleep, until her phone rang.

Caller ID showed it was Candy.

“Hey Hannah, I’m outside your clinic. Did you really break up with him?” Candy’s gentle voice reminded her, oh yeah, she was still in the middle of dumping Barnaby.

Hannah’s drowsiness vanished in an instant. “Hold on a sec.”

She hung up, managed to get out of Barnaby’s arms, and stood up. “Make sure you’ve packed up and moved out before I come back tomorrow.”

Barnaby frowned. “Where are you going at this hour?”

“We’re broken up. You don’t get to tell me what to do!” Hannah shapped, slipping out the side door.

Barnaby followed her to the entrance, watched her climb into Candy’s car, then walked over and tapped on the window, leaning in to talk to Candy.

“Don’t let her drink tonight. If you can’t stop her and she ends up wasted, call me,” he said.

As he spoke, he slipped his card through the window.

“Oh,” Candy replied, a little dazed. ‘Wait, are they really broken up?’ she wondered.

“Ugh, let’s go, Hannah said, her impatience showing.

“Oh, okay” Candy said quickly, rolling up the window and starting the car. “Where to? Nocturne Grand?”

Hannah was about to say yes, but then she remembered the en barrassing mess she’d made last time she got drunk. She changed her mind at the last second. “Forget it, just take me to our place.”

Candy had an apartment in Kinswood, and with the roads clear

this hour, they got there in just half an hour.

Hannah kicked off her shoes and collapsed onto the couch. “Bak out your best wine, the one you’ve been saving I need a drink.”

“Barnaby literally just warned me not to let you drink,” Candy reranded her.

Hannah huffed. “He’s not the boss of me!”

Just as she finished, her phone rang, Caller ID: Barnaby

‘Seriously, is this guy ever going to leave me alone?’ Hannah thought, rolling her eyes as she picked up. “What do you want?” “Did you get there?” Barnaby asked.

Hannah frowned, suddenly suspicious. ‘Did he put a tracker on he or something?’ she thought.

“Are you done packing yet?” Hannah shot back, dodging his question.

“I’m packing now,” Barnaby replied.

“Just make sure you pack everything. If that’s all, I’m hanging up” Hannah said, cutting him off.

“Wait,” Barnaby said quickly. “Can I take something you’ve worn with me?”
