Chapter 265 Something For Missing You

Chapter 265 Something For Missing You

“What are you up to?” Hannah asked, her brows furrowing.

Barnaby’s deep, slightly husky voice came through the phone. need something of yours for when I miss you”

Hannah froze, her mind instantly conjuring up an image of Barnaby clutching her clothes and doing something indecent. Her cheeks burned, and she blurted out, “You’ve got to be kidding me, no way! Not a single thing of mine is leaving with you!”

With that, she hung up the phone.

On the other end, Barnaby chuckled quietly to himself after the call was cut off. Then he turned around and packed the black silk nightgown Hannah wore most often right into his suitcase.

Candy grabbed a bottle of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from the wine rack, along with two wine glasses. She set them down on the coffee table and poured the wine.

“Seriously, what’s going on with you two? The headlines are all about you. Your secret identity is so well-kept, but when it finally gets exposed, it’s like dropping a nuke, everyone’s freaking out. Is Barnaby losing his cool?” Candy teased.

Hannah picked up her wine and took a sip, then gave Candy a brief recap of tonight’s events.

At the end, she made sure to remind her, “Just keep his identity to yourself, alright? Don’t tell anyone else.”

Candy knocked back three glasses in a row, trying to steady herself, then nearly shrieked, “Wait, Barnaby is actually the Master of the Scepter House? Seriously,”

Hannah slapped her hand over Candy’s mouth. “Not another word. You take this secret to the grave.”

Candy nodded like crazy, raising her finger in a solemn vow, and only then did Hannah let her go.

Candy took a deep breath and said, “Barnaby is way too much! He made you drop 290 million on the Obsidian Pearl, then turned around and used it himself, and kept the cash! That’s 58 million gone in a flash, just like that!

“580 million could buy you ten Mouawad Red Diamonds! You only ever got me one, and he just swiped ten from you in one go! Seriously, that’s savage!

“No wonder the Master of the Scepter House handed over the Obsidian Pearl so easily! He was plotting this from the start, just trying to edge me out of your heart!”

Hannah was speechless.

‘Is that really the main issue here?’ Hannah thought.

‘Shouldn’t we be talking about how he totally tricked me?’

“Don’t get all jealous now. I had him move out tonight,” Hannah said, taking another sip of her wine.

“But come on, are you two actually over? Or is this just some lovers’ spat?” Candy asked, giving her a suspicious look.

“For real, it’s over!” Hannah insisted, clinking her glass with Candy’s. “Cheers to my single life!”

“But isn’t the courtyard house still under his name? He could just waltz back in whenever he feels like it,” Candy pointed out. Seeing Hannah chug half her glass of wine like it was water, Candy quickly set her own glass down and tried to stop her.” Hey, slow down! You know you can’t hold your liquor, if you keep this up, you’ll be out cold before you know it.”

Hannah was already a little tipsy, her voice getting airy. “If he wants to move back in, fine, I’ll just move out. I’ll pay him rent for the clinic.”

“No way! That’s way too easy on him! You literally cured him, and the money you spent on the Obsidian Pearl could’ve bought that courtyard house outright!” Candy shot back.

Hannah didn’t say anything else, just poured herself another glass. Candy tried to stop her, but Hannah pushed her away.

“Let me have another drink. It’ll help me feel a little better,” Hannah said.

Candy hugged her tight, feeling bad for her. People always thought Hannah was cold and nothing ever got to her, but really, she just buried all her feelings deep down and never let anyone see what she was really feeling.

In Hannah’s mind, if she didn’t care, nobody could mess with he emotions. She wasn’t the type to trust her feelings to anyone easily, even with Candy, it took forever for them to become real besties.

But Barnaby managed to make Hannah care this much in less than a vear That just showed how much she’d truly opened Successfully unlocked!

her heart to him.

“Alright, alright, cheer up! It’s just a guy, right? I will noun you up ve got a bunch of single cousins who aren’t bad-looking at all. I’ll introduce you to them sometime,” Candy said, trying to lift her spirits.

Hannah downed another big glass of wine, her mind already floating off somewhere. She burped and slurred, “Any of them better-looking than Barnaby?”

Chapter 265 Something For Missing You

“Uh…” Candy paused, thinking, ‘Even when she’s wasted, she’s still obsessed with looks. With Barnaby’s face, seriously, no guy alive could ever top him.’

Just then, Hannah’s phone, which had been tossed aside, started ringing again. She groggily reached for it and answered. Barnaby’s voice came through the line. “Baby, how should we split the Hedy?”

Hannah froze for a second at the sound of his familiar voice, then snapped, “No way! It’s mine! You gave it to me as a gift, once you give something away, you can’t just take it back!”

Barnaby could tell something was off. “Are you drunk?”

But Hannah was already wasted and didn’t even register what he said.

She just kept rambling, “The courtyard house is mine too, you can’t take that back! And the gold needles, those are mine too! You gave them to me, so they’re all my stuff now. You’re not allowed to take any of it back…”

Barnaby listened to her drunken rant, imagining her all buzzed with those hazy, booze-filled eyes, and damn, he couldn’t help but find her cute as hell.

“So, what about me? Guess that makes me yours too, huh?” he teased.

Meanwhile, phone wedged between his shoulder and ear, his fingers flew over the keyboard, pulling up Hannah’s location in seconds.

Hannah was totally wasted, her words slurring and all over the place.

“You, hic, you’re not mine anymore… You said we should break up… You’re not mine… You don’t love me anymore, hic… If you agreed to break up, that means you don’t love me… I don’t wanna love you anymore either…”

Barnaby froze, car keys in hand, suddenly feeling like something just yanked hard at his heart. He thought she was just acting tough, but he never expected her to be hurting this much inside.

“I’m sorry. I love you. Let’s not break up, okay? I’m on my way to pick you up,” Barnaby said, jumping up and heading out to his car. He started the engine, but all he got was silence on the other end.

He thought she’d hung up, but when he checked, the call was still connected. After a beat, Candy picked up on the other

end.

“Hey, Barnaby? Hannah’s out cold. She’s at my place, so chill out I’m gonna tuck her in and make sure she sleeps,” Candy

said.

“I’m coming to pick her up,” Barnaby said.

“Wait, seriously, you don’t have to. Hannah’s really not in a good place right now, pretty sure she doesn’t want to see you…” Candy replied.

Barnaby just hung up, spun the car around, and drove off.

On his way, Barnaby’s phone rang again. The caller ID was just random number, but he knew instantly, it was Axel. “Barnaby, the elders found out about your Vulcan codename at the anniversary party tonight. You need to handle this ASAP, Axel said.

Barnaby’s brows furrowed. “Got it,” he replied, hanging up. He spun the car around and headed in the opposite direction, then called Candy. “Take care of Hannah,” he said.
