Chapter 273 Don’t Sleep Here
Chapter 273 Don’t Sleep Here
“Back in the army, when we were out on missions, things were way rougher. We’d just crash wherever we could, even in the wild. Compared to that, this place is luxury,” Barnaby said as he spread his suits on the floor
Hannah was speechless.
‘Seriously? You’re using these custom-made suits as floor mats If the designer saw this, they’d probably pass out from anger, Hannah thought.
After Barnaby spread out his suits to make a makeshift bed, he looked up at Hannah with a playful grin. “Hey, Hannah, want to crash here with me tonight?”
“Goodbye,” Hannah said, turning to leave. But then she spotted the black silk nightgown she’d been searching for last night, tucked away at the bottom of her suitcase.
She went to grab it, but Barnaby beat her to it, snatching the nightgown and hiding it behind his back.
“Give it back!” Hannah glared at him.
Barnaby just grinned, refusing to give it back. “I bought it, so it belongs to me, doesn’t it?”
Hannah lunged at him, snatched the nightgown right out of his hands, then whipped out her phone, opened Unipay, and sent about 8,000 dollars straight to his account.
“That should cover the dress and the house. We’re square now she declared.
Barnaby gave her his best puppy-dog eyes. “Hannah, you’re so cold. Can’t you at least let me keep a little something to remember you by?”
“Oh, so now you realize I’m ruthless?” Hannah stood up, brushed the dust off her clothes, grabbed the nightgown and the property deed, and walked out.
But after just a few steps, she stopped and said, “Don’t sleep on the floor.”
Barnaby felt a spark of hope. ‘Guess she’s not as heartless as se pretends, he thought. “So, Hannah, got a bed for me? I can warm it up for free,” he said.
“In your dreams! Go left when you step out. There are plenty of Hotels for you to choose from,” Hannah shot back, then headed straight for the west wing.
Barnaby was speechless.
‘She really is heartless, Barnaby thought to himself.
But since he was the one who got on her bad side, no matter how cold she acted, he still had to keep trying to make her happy.
Barnaby was truly wiped out. Back when he was sick, he could go days without sleep and still be fine. But after half a year of living the good life and getting proper rest, pulling another all-nighter was just too much for his body now.
He didn’t bother with the makeshift bed anymore and just headed out.

Back in the study, Hannah deleted all the negative rumors about Evelyn from the internet. After making sure Barnaby had really left, she finally came out and headed to the north wing to sort through her medicine.
“Anna.” Hannah was focused on her work when she suddenly heard someone call her from behind.
She turned around, hands still busy, and saw Evelyn. “Grandma, what brings you here?”
It was the clinic’s day off, so there were no patients today.
“What are you working on? Need a hand?” Evelyn asked as she changed into her indoor shoes and walked in.
“I’m working on an improved version of the special medicine. Obsidian Pearls are tough to get, so I’m trying to find a substitute,” Hannah explained, not bothering with formalities. “Could you help me check if these ingredients might work?”
“Sure,” Evelyn said, washed her hands, slipped on some gloves, and came over to help.
After they’d been busy for a while, Evelyn spoke up again.
“Anna, I’m sorry for all the trouble yesterday. I never thought Suse could be so ruthless just to get me to leave,” she said. She’d wanted to say this yesterday, but with th
Hannah kept sorting through the herbs in her t. name. Compared to that, this is nothing.
Convenient.

mess she’ll stir up next time.”
“She won’t get another shot! Iris messaged me, Susie’s on lockdown for three months,” Hannah said, dropping what was in her hands and going over to give her grandma a hug
“Seriously, Grandma, you’ve never been any trouble. If anything,m the one who leans on you. I’m such a slacker, without you, this clinic would’ve shut down ages ago,” Hannah said with a grin.
Evelyn let out another sigh, knowing Hannah would never let her go back to the mountains alone. She hugged Hannah tight, feeling comforted, and stayed silent.
Not wanting Evelyn to dwell on things any longer, Hannah put her work aside, changed her clothes, grabbed Hedy, and headed out with her grandma for a walk in the nearby park.
Dorian and Arthur had both made plans and left the hotel early. felicity brought Aurelia and Lucian to the park to join Hannah.
The weather in Kinswood in June was perfect, not too hot, not too cold. The group wandered through the park, taking Hedy for a walk.
Hannah lounged on a park bench, eyes half-closed in the sunshine, suddenly thinking, ‘Days like this are actually pretty relaxing.’ That was, if she could ignore Lucian sitting next to her peppering her with questions nonstop.
“Hannah, is Vulcan your main account, and Raven your alt? What about Shadow?” Lucian asked.
“Hannah, are all three of those accounts really yours?” he pressed.
“And what about Barnaby? He’s really just starting out like me, right?” Lucian asked.
“Hannah…” Lucian called out again.
“Shut up!” Hannah snapped, her voice icy.
Lucian finally had Hannah all to himself and wasn’t about to let this chance slip away. “Then promise to take me on as your mentee first.”
Hannah shot him a sideways glance. “Did you even read the books I gave you?” she asked.
“I’m reading them, but some parts are pretty tough. I have to keep going over them, so I’m making slow progress,” Lucian admitted.
Hannah reached into her bag, pulled out a USB drive, and handed it to him. “Here, take a look at this when you get home.”
Inside were some tutorials she’d put together, along with a C programming book full of her annotations. Originally, she’d meant to give all this to Barnaby, but before she got the chance she’d already blown his cover by accident.
Lucky she hadn’t handed it over yet, or she’d have totally embarrassed herself.
“Thanks, Hannah! Wait, I mean, thanks, Mentor!” Lucian’s eyes lit up as he grabbed the USB. He whipped out his laptop and started digging in right there on the bench.
Hannah watched Lucian, totally absorbed and eager, and it reminded her of her own younger days. Back when she got those tutorials from Shadow, she was so hyped she barely slept just diving into learning nonstop.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Hannah noticed a guy in Black sportswear, hat and mask on, standing by a willow tree, fiddling with his phone.
She’d actually seen him trailing them ever since they first came into the park.
At noon, Arthur came by to pick everyone up for lunch. Hannah helped Evelyn and the others into the car, so it was just her and Hedy.
“Arthur, you guys go ahead. I’ve got something to deal with, so I’m not coming with you,” Hannah said
“Alright, just call me if you need anything,” Arthur replied.
After watching them drive off, Hannah took Hedy for a stroll around the park entrance. Sure enough, she spotted that guy in black hanging around the corner again, just as she expected
Hannah pulled out her phone and made a call. Twenty minutes later, a blue Bugatti Veyron pulled up in front of her.
The window rolled down, revealing Spencer’s devilishly handsome face. “I thought I’d have to wait at least ten days or half a month before you remembered me. Get in.”
Hannah walked over to the back door and tried to open it, but it wouldn’t budge.
“Sit up front,” Spencer called out.
Hannah picked up Hedy. “You really want the pig up front?”
Spencer finally noticed the pig and, with a reluctant sigh, unlocked the back door. “First you make a pig your assistant, and now you actually have a real pig with you. Are you seriously obsessed with pigs or something?”

Hannah got into the back seat with Hedy, and the little guy, as if he understood Spencer, let out a couple of indignant
grunts.
‘Where to?” Spencer asked.
Hannah glanced at the guy in black outside. “I’m treating you to dinner. You pick.”
Spencer flashed a cocky grin, fired up the engine, and said, “Alright, you said it yourself.”
