Chapter 274 Someone’s Been Following You
Chapter 274 Someone’s Been Following You
An hour later, the Bugatti Veyron rolled out of the city and into a secluded, upscale villa community on the outskirts.
Hannah was no stranger to this place, she actually owned a villa here herself. As she was wondering where Spencer was taking her, he pulled the car into the driveway of a villa right next to hers.
“Aren’t we going to eat?” Hannah asked.
“Of course, but nothing is more meaningful than a meal you cook for me yourself,” Spencer replied as he got out and went to the back to open the door for her.
Hannah was speechless.
‘I really messed up. I never should’ve let him pick,’ she thought.
But she didn’t refuse. After getting out of the car holding Hedy, she deliberately looked around, no suspicious people or cars in sight.
‘Maybe I was just being paranoid about that guy in black at the park, Hannah thought for a moment, starting to doubt herself.
Spencer noticed she was acting a little off, but he didn’t say anything. He just opened the front door and led her straight to the kitchen.
Hannah was already starving. She put Hedy down and asked, “What do you want to eat?”
Spencer didn’t hold back at all. He just started listing off dishes like he owned the place.
Hannah opened the fridge, completely empty except for a few bottles of beer, two lonely eggs, and half a pack of noodles that looked like they’d been abandoned ages ago. She pulled them out, checked the date, and realized they were way past expired.
Hannah thought, at a loss for words.
Spencer was just as stunned.
Spencer’s eyes darted over to Hedy, who was sniffing around the kitchen, curious about everything.
In the next second, he swooped in, grabbed Hedy, and plopped down on the cutting board. “Perfect, you brought fresh meat. Let’s cook it up right now.”
Hedy let out a blood-curdling squeal, struggling like crazy. It kicked Spencer’s hand away with its back legs, jumped off the cutting board, and scurried over to Hannah’s feet, grunting and whining in protest.
Hannah crouched down, gently stroked Hedy’s back to soothe it “Easy, you’re safe now,” she murmured, trying to calm it
down.
Hedy clambered up Hannah’s leg and burrowed into her arms, then turned its little head to keep a wary eye on Spencer, clearly on guard.
Hannah stood up, hugging Hedy protectively. “See? You scared my little guy. Now he’s refusing to let me cook for you,” she teased, shooting Spencer a playful look.
“Well, since I’ve already scared it half to death, why not go all the way and toss it in the pot?” Spencer joked, flashing a mischievous grin.
Hannah shot him a glace. “Get lost!”
Spencer clutched his chest in mock agony, putting on a wounded look. “So, in your eyes, I’m not even as good as a pig?
“Ouch. After all the effort I poured into teaching you how to code, and now you won’t even cook a meal for your mentor…”
Hannah silently chanted ‘respect my mentor’ three times in her head, just to keep herself from storming out right then and there.
She cradled Hedy in one arm and pulled out her phone. “So, what do you want to eat?”
Spencer glanced at her phone and whined, “No more takeout, I’m so over it. I want something you cook, whatever, just hurry up, I’m starving here.”
Hannah glanced down and ordered with one hand on her phone
Half an hour later, the delivery guy showed up with Kink

Hannah boiled some water, threw in the noodles, sausages, and eggs, cooked it all together, then scooped it into a bowl and set it in front of Spencer.
“Dig in,” she said.

Spencer was sitting at the table, texting, and when he looked up to see the bowl of instant noodles, he frowned. “Are you kidding me? Instant noodles? This is what I get?”
“Hey, at least I cooked it myself. It’s the fastest thing I could manage,” Hannah said with a shrug.
Spencer just stared at her, speechless.
Hannah took the seat across from him, opened her lobster rice owl, served Hedy a spoonful of rice, and began to eat at her own unhurried pace.
As much as Spencer complained, it was already two in the afternoon and he was so hungry his stomach was practically touching his back. He finally grabbed his fork and dug in.
When he finished, still craving more, he looked up and asked, “Is there any more?”
Hannah just shook her head. “Nope, all gone.”
“This meal doesn’t count. You’re making me a proper dinner tonight,” Spencer insisted, already pulling out his phone to order groceries online.
Hannah just ignored him. Once she finished eating, she cleaned up the takeout containers and tossed them in the trash, making sure Hedy wouldn’t try to gnaw on them.
After placing his order, Spencer set his phone down and suddenly asked, “So, what’s up with Vulcan?”
“You seriously don’t know who Vulcan is?” Hannah shot back, finding it strange.
On the hacker forum, everyone said Vulcan and Shadow were sworn rivals, they’d battled it out online countless times, and it almost always ended in a draw. But they didn’t actually know each other in person?
Spencer narrowed his eyes, sizing Hannah up but kept quiet. Inside the Scepter House, plenty of people figured Vulcan was actually the Master.
But the Master’s true identity was still a total mystery.
Ever since Hannah whipped out that USB drive with Vulcan’s logo at the Xenith Systems Group anniversary party, Spencer, just like everyone else, had assumed she was Vulcan, maybe even the Master of the Scepter House.
But he shot down that idea pretty fast. Hannah was his mentee even if they’d never met face-to-face, he knew her coding style by heart, and it was nothing like Vulcan’s.
But with Vulcan’s USB drive in Hannah’s hands, the only other possibility that came to mind was the guy always hanging around her, Barnaby.
“Vulcan is Barnaby,” Spencer said, his tone full of certainty.
People were always comparing him to Barnaby, and that competitive streak in him just wouldn’t let it go, he was always driven to beat Barnaby at everything.
Even joining the Scepter House was just because he found out Barnaby was in it, he wanted to prove he could be better, so he fought his way in on pure skill. But he never imagined Barnaby would turn out to be the Master himself!
Hannah just stared at him, not giving anything away, no confirmation, no denial.
She didn’t really know much about the Scepter House’s rules, and the Master’s identity was always shrouded in mystery anyway. ‘Guess I’ll just keep pretending I don’t know anything about it,’ she thought.
“Why did you stop me from looking into the Thole family before Hannah asked, switching the topic.
Spencer got up, took the dishes to the kitchen, and when he came back, he said lazily, “The Thole family is a mess. Why bother meddling in their business when you’re not even one of them?”
Hannah raised an eyebrow. “Seriously, that’s all?”
“Hey, don’t let your curiosity get the better of you, kid,” Spencer reminded her.
Hannah let out a cold laugh. ‘Guess I gave him too much credit. Turns out I was just overthinking it, she thought.
She stood up, ready to leave.
“Someone’s been following you. Maybe even wants you dead. Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed,” Spencer suddenly threw out, his voice cool and casual.
Hannah froze, her mind flashing back to that guy in black at the bark.
Bang.
Spencer suddenly pushed Hannah down onto the dining table,s weight pressing her firmly and forcing a muffled sound from her.
“What are you doing?!” Hannah tried to shove him away, but with the difference in their strength, she couldn’t budge him. Spencer held her chin, turning her face to the side, and whispered, “Look at the wall.”

Hannah was stunned for a moment, then spotted a red dot on the wall, right at the height where she’d just been sitting. It was a sniper’s laser sight!
The red dot vanished in a flash. Hannah turned around and suddenly realized someone familiar was standing in the living room, she had no idea when he’d arrived.
Barnaby’s face was grim, and the air around him seemed to drop several degrees.
Hannah’s eyes widened in shock.
‘Why is he here?!’ Hannah thought, her heart racing.
Barnaby stormed over, grabbed Spencer and hauled him off Hannah, then socked him right in the face without a second thought.
