Chapter 289 Retribution

Chapter 289 Retribution

“Barnaby, I know I messed up. Do I really have to drink this? Fiona swallowed nervously, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her mom had mixed up this potion for her, and to make sure the plan worked, she’d dumped in way more than usual. The stuff was crazy strong, just half a glass and anyone would lose their mind, running on nothing but raw instinct.

Barnaby didn’t waste time talking. He just grabbed his gun and aimed it right at her.

When Hannah saw that cold, black muzzle pointed her way again, fear gripped her and she had no choice but to obey.

“I’ll drink it! I’ll drink it!” she cried out.

She dragged herself over to the coffee table, picked up a glass, poured herself half a glass, and tipped it back like she was heading to her doom.

Barnaby glanced at the clock, calculating when Hannah Carter would be back. Fighting the itch crawling over his skin, he grabbed the rest of the laced water and drank it down in one go

Hannah stared in disbelief.

‘He actually drank it!’ she thought, stunned.

And already, she could feel the drug working its way through her system.

Meanwhile, out in the banquet hall, Mrs. Lynch checked the time then glanced at the closed lounge door.

Seeing that Hannah still hadn’t come out after all this time, she figured the plan must have worked.

‘I need to help my daughter out; she thought.

If Fiona married Barnaby, the Thole family would be their backing. With that kind of support, and since Barnaby was Spencer’s arch-nemesis, Fiona could compete with Spencer for the Lynch family inheritance.

That way, the Lynch family’s control would never end up in the hands of that bastard Spencer.

With that in mind, Mrs. Lynch deliberately led David and a group of guests toward the lounge.

“Barnaby…” Fiona’s voice came out, breathless and desperate.

As they got closer, the guests could hear Fiona’s passionate cries and a man’s heavy breathing coming from the slightly open lounge door. Everyone looked embarrassed, murmuring among themselves.

“Is that Barnaby and Ms. Lynch in there?” someone whispered.

“Doesn’t Barnaby already have a girlfriend? Why is he acting so shamelessly? How could he do this to the Nameless Healer?” another guest muttered.

“I don’t think that’s Barnaby. Wasn’t he just with the Nameless Healer?” someone else said.

“They did go into the lounge, but the Nameless Healer left with Spencer a little while later,” another guest chimed in.

“So Barnaby must still be in there with Ms. Lynch,” someone concluded.

“That wild voice has to be Ms. Lynch. Who knew she was that kind of girl?” another guest whispered.

Hannah was speechless.

Mrs. Lynch listened to the whispers swirling around her. Sure, the talk was nasty and it would trash Fiona’s reputation, but as long as everyone saw Barnaby and Fiona caught up in a scandal, her goal was met.

Next up was figuring out how to corner Barnaby into making a public promise to marry Fiona.

David’s face was thunderous. First, his son had shown up at his birthday party with green hair, causing a scene by butting into someone else’s love life. Now his daughter was even bolde putting on a wild show for everyone to see.

They were making the Lynch family lose all face.

Seething, David stormed forward and kicked the half-closed louge door open with a loud bang.

Instantly, the whole scandalous mess was on full display for everyone. There was a bald, pot-bellied, sleazy looking guy clutching Fiona in his arms.

The bang of the door made the bald guy jump out of his skin. He spun around and saw David and Mrs. Lynch, looking like they’d just swallowed a lemon, with a whole crew from for CAT BU nees nearly buckled from fear

He let go of Fiona in a hurry, but she was completely zoned out from the drug, not even noticing the crowd outside. She latched onto him again, mumbling, “Don’t go…”

Mrs. Lynch was frozen like she’d been hit by a truck. Her mind was spinning. Where the hell was Barnaby?

Chapter 289 Retribution

‘Ms. Lynch looks so young and sweet, but turns out she’s not as innocent as she seems, someone whispered

‘She’s way too wild, just like one of those club girls,’ another guest muttered

“The Lynch family’s reputation is really embarrassing for the Kingwood elite, someone else scoffed

“Like father, like daughter. The dad’s got a mistress and a bastard kid, and the mom slept her way to the top Honestly, if it weren’t for the fortune old man Lynch left behind, the Lynch family would’ve gone broke ages ago, another guest sneered

Hannah was speechless.

As the guests kept gossiping, a flood of reporters rushed out of the elevator, cameras flashing nonstop.

That night, pixelated photos of Fiona Lynch caught in a scandalous moment went viral on the entertainment gossip

headlines.

Sitting in the underground parking lot, Spencer Lynch saw the news and couldn’t hold back a sly, devilish grin. His eyes gleamed with barely contained excitement.

Meanwhile.

Ronin Vale pulled the car into the yard of Ms. Carter’s clinic. He got out and opened the back door, calling, “Barnaby, Hannah, we’re here.”

In the back seat, Barnaby was holding Hannah close, his head buried against her neck, unable to keep still as he rubbed up against her.

His face was unnaturally flushed, eyes glazed over. His shirt collar hung open, showing off his long neck and sharp collarbones, still marked with faint red spots from the allergy, making him look feverish and a little wild.

Hannah was squirming, uncomfortable from his touch. They hadn’t been close since their breakup, but Barnaby knew all her sensitive spots, and it was making her lose her mind.

She nudged Barnaby, trying to get him to sit up. “We’re here. Come on, get up. Ronin Vale, help him in.”

Ronin Vale leaned in, struggling to get Barnaby out of the car. Just as he was about to help him into the east wing. Bamaby suddenly stopped in his tracks.

He stared at the east wing for a long moment, looking dazed. “No, this isn’t my home. My home’s not here.”

With that, he turned around and spotted Hannah getting out of the car. He shoved Ronin Vale aside and stumbled toward her, unsteady on his feet. “Baby, this isn’t my home. Let’s go home, okay?”

Hannah had been about to get out and leave, but seeing how unsteady he was, she hurried to catch him before he fell. But he ended up throwing himself at her, practically collapsing on her like a big, clingy dog.

Hannah had to step back twice just to keep her balance. Barnaby might look skinny in his clothes, but underneath, he was all muscle and way heavier than he seemed. When he collapsed on her, heavy as a sack of bricks, she could barely keep him upright.

Ronin Vale rushed over to help, but Barnaby shoved him away the second he got close.

“Don’t touch me, baby. Let’s go home,” Barnaby slurred, dragging Hannah off in the direction of the west wing.

Feeling helpless, Hannah waved Ronin Vale off, telling him to go on ahead. Barnaby was a mess, dealing with both an allergy and some strong herbal meds.

She’d already done some acupuncture in the car to keep his allergy under control, but that drug was a whole other headache.

Hannah struggled to get Barnaby through the door of the west wing, practically dragging him inside. He’d been barely keeping it together the whole way, but now he finally snapped. He pulled her close and kissed her hard.

That kiss lit a fire in her, burning up all the heat he’d been stoking in her all night.

Still tangled up in each other, they tumbled into the room and crashed onto the bed together.
