Chapter 290 Sleep Or Not?
Chapter 290 Sleep Or Not?
As they fell, Barnaby instinctively shielded Hannah, letting her land on top of him.
Hannah’s heart skipped a beat when she realized what he’d done.
Maybe there was one thing she could trust Barnaby about. He’d always said he’d never hurt her.
When Barnaby saw Hannah not only refusing to push him away but actually wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him back, his heart was pounding. ‘Is she finally giving in?’ he thought.
Ever since he’d moved out of the west wing, all he could do was listen to the music every night, trying to keep himself calm and his desires in check.
Hannah was sprawled on top of him, completely swept away by his kiss. She slipped off his suit jacket, her fingers moving straight to his belt.
That was a lethal invitation if there ever was one. Barnaby’s blood was boiling. With a swift motion, he rolled her underneath him, deepening the kiss and igniting sparks all over her body.
As Hannah undid his belt and was about to unbutton his shirt, Barnaby nibbled on her earlobe, his breath hot and laughter low. “Changed your mind about breaking up?”
Hannah paused, her eyes glazed and breath shaky as she looked at him. ‘Why would he stop now, of all times?’ she thought.
She reached for his shirt buttons. “We still haven’t had our breakup sex, have we? Let’s get it over with tonight. After this, we’re really done.”
The word “done” was like a bucket of ice water dumped over Barnaby, snapping him out of his drug-induced daze. His hands instantly stilled on her body.
Fighting the urge burning through him, he brushed Hannah’s hands aside and got up off her, his expression grim.
“No! I’m not sleeping with you. And I’m not breaking up,” he said voice low and stubborn.
Hannah watched as Barnaby jumped up off the bed, nearly landing on the little piglet that had barged in. He staggered like he was tipsy, dodging the piglet and making for the door.
For a moment, she wondered if he was really under the effects of that medicine, or if he was just faking it to mess with her again.
‘He gets me all fired up and then just walks away? Seriously, is he trying to kill me?’ she thought.
“You’re really not going to sleep with me?” Hannah propped herself up on the bed, her voice tinged with disbelief.
“No! I won’t let you break up with me,” Barnaby said, his voice firm as he fought through the discomfort.
Hannah tsked, clearly annoyed. “So, what’s your plan to deal with it?”
That stuff was strong. No way a cold shower would cut it.
“Cold shower, handle it myself,” Barnaby gritted out. “If that doesn’t work, I’ll just bleed it out. But I’m not having breakup sex with you.”
Hannah was speechless.
“And what about me? You got me all fired up and now you’re just leaving me hanging?” she retorted.
Barnaby didn’t say a word. He left with a stormy look on his face
He knew if he stuck around any longer, he might not be able to hold himself back.
Hannah heard Barnaby’s footsteps heading for the kitchen. Worried he might actually do something crazy, she rushed after him, and sure enough, there he was, fruit knife in hand, rolling up his sleeve, arm bared, looking ready to actually cut himself.
Hannah was lost for words.
Hannah didn’t think he’d actually take the joke that far. “Are you seriously going to do it?”
“What else?” Barnaby turned to look at her. Her lips were flushed her eyes hazy and inviting.
Just that one look, and all the sweet memories between them me rushing back. Both of them could feel their blood pounding, like they were about to lose control.

did.
He tore his gaze away, not daring to look at herds
“Seriously, Barnaby, with your status, you could snap your fingers and have women lining up for you. No need to go all dramatic with the knife,” Hannah teased, her tone playful.
“I’m not into random hookups. Only my girlfriend gets that,” Barnaby replied, gripping the knife as he strode out.

Hannah clicked her tongue, watching him try to slip away like he was about to go bleed himself somewhere She felt a pang of sympathy as she looked at his back. “Are you really not going to have breakup sex with me?
Barnaby’s answer was firm. “No!”
“Then how about makeup sex?” Hannah shot back, her voice teasing.
Barnaby stopped dead in his tracks, his heart doing a rollercoaster drop. In the next instant, he whirled around and lunged at her like a wolf on the hunt.
Hannah wrapped her arms around him, letting his kisses rain down on her. Trusting someone? That’s tough. But falling for someone? That’s easy.
The night was endless, and the room was wrapped in desire.

Meanwhile, at the Thole family estate.
Howard, his wife, and Dustin headed over to Edmund’s place, carrying two signed contracts to check in.
“Edmund, we’ve got both Shadow and Raven signed on, Howard said, handing over the contracts. He made sure to add,” Dustin really played a big part in getting both mentor and apprentice on board.”
“Uncle, Dad, it’s what I should do. I just want the Thole family to keep getting better, Dustin said with a smile.
“Good work,” Edmund said, taking the contracts and skimming through the main points. “Nice job. Get the rest of the team together fast and push the project forward. We need the Thole family’s new chip out before Xenith Systems Group even gets theirs on the shelves!
“Dustin, you’re teaming up with your dad for the chip development and planning.”
Dustin was practically buzzing with excitement inside.
The new chip was the Thole family’s hottest and most crucial project right now. Edmund bringing Dustin in on the development and planning was a clear sign. He trusted him, and he was handing him real authority.
Dustin was getting more power in the Thole family than Barnaby ever had. Barnaby, on the other hand, was still buried in that little Ascent Ventures side office, totally off the family’s radar.
When it came to picking the next family head, Dustin was now miles ahead of Barnaby.
Howard was more than satisfied with the outcome. By highlighting Dustin’s achievements in front of Edmund, he was making sure Edmund would take Dustin under his wing and help him rise in the family.
“Yes,” the father and son answered together.
“And watch out for Hannah,” Edmund warned, setting the contracts aside.
For the sake of the Thole family’s future, he could swallow his pride and team up with Hannah, but that didn’t mean he could stomach her being involved with Barnaby.
“Don’t worry about that. Signing Spencer was all about keeping Hannah under control,” Howard said, having already figured out what Edmund wanted.
“Off the record, Spencer sees Barnaby as his sworn enemy. He’s got feelings for Hannah and is hell-bent on taking her away from Barnaby. If it works, it’ll play right into your hands.”
Edmund thought back to the Lynch family scandal tonight. Spencer showing up at his own father’s birthday party with green hair, pulling that kind of defiant stunt. He frowned, “Is that guy really someone we can rely on?”
He’d heard all sorts of stories about Spencer’s crazy, unhinged behavior before.
“I’ve known him for ten years and worked with him plenty of times. Sure, he acts all flashy, but when it comes to trust, he’s solid,’ Howard said.
Edmund nodded thoughtfully, staying silent.
“Barnaby and Hannah’s relationship is definitely inappropriate people start talking, it’ll hurt the Thole family’s reputation. Breaking them up would be ideal,” Eleanor said.
“But just trying to force them apart isn’t really the smartest move We should introduce Barnaby to some women from respectable families, so he’ll have other options besides Hannah and won’t be so hung up on her.”
“Work with your sister-in-law on this. If you find any suitable girl, go ahead and introduce them to Barnaby, but let’s not have a repeat of what happened last time,” Edmund said.
Eleanor knew he was talking about the Daisy incident. “Yes,” she replied.
As they left Edmund’s place, Eleanor wasted no time and called Mrs. Reese. ‘Mrs Reese, it’s time to put your plan into action, the one you mentioned before.”
