The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 293

Chapter 293 Having Him Around

Chapter 293 Having Him Around

At Ms Carter’s clinic.

Chloe had just left when Candy showed up.

As soon as she stepped into the west wing, she caught sight of Barnaby coming out of his room. Dressed in a sharp white suit, his broad shoulders and slim waist put even international models to shame.

He had a gray tie in his hand and walked over to Hannah, who was gaming on her phone in the living room, asking her to tie it for him.

Hannah didn’t hesitate. She put her phone down, took the tie, and stood up on her tiptoes to help him put it on, tying a neat knot.

“I’ll try to get back early tonight. If you get hungry, there’s some Hedy cake in the fridge. Have a slice to tide you over,” Barnaby said, leaning down to kiss her forehead. His well-defined fingers lifted her chin, clearly wanting another kiss.

Hannah caught sight of Candy standing at the door and pushed him away. “Go ahead, you should get going.”

Barnaby looked annoyed, turned his head, and shot Candy a frosty glare.

Candy was startled, spun around, and hurried out. “You two carry on. I’ll come back in a bit.”

Hannah was speechless.

Candy stood at the door, scrolling through her phone for a while, until she heard footsteps behind her and Barnaby’s deep, magnetic voice. “You can go in now.”

“Thanks, Barnaby,” she said, turning around with a big smile and skipping into the living room.

There was Hannah, still gaming on the couch, her little piggy snuggled up on her lap.

Candy plopped down beside her, craning her neck to check out Hannah’s flawless face. Everyone says girls fresh out of a breakup always look a mess.

But Hannah’s cheeks were glowing, her lips were a perfect rosy fed. She looked so stunning, there wasn’t a trace of heartbreak on her. If anything, she looked like she was totally smitten.

Just stepping out the door, those two could barely keep their hands off each other. It was even more over-the-top than the CEO dramas Candy had acted in.

She’d come all this way to comfort her supposedly heartbroken bestie, but now it felt like she was just the third wheel. Hannah was deep into the secret level 1725 of her match-three game when Candy’s face practically smushed up against hers, blocking her view. Hannah shoved her Barbie-like face away. “Stop blocking me. If you’ve got something to say, just spit it out.”

“You’re such a traitor now that you’ve got a boyfriend! Look at me. Aren’t I way cuter than those game animals on your phone?” Candy grabbed Hannah’s face, forcing her to look at her which scared the little piggy so much it bolted to the other end of the couch.

Hannah sighed, locked her phone, and looked at her. “Yeah, youre the cutest.”

Hannah’s answer was totally half-hearted, barely even trying, but Candy was still totally pleased and let go of her. “So, you two patched things up?”

“Uh-huh,” Hannah said.

Candy shot her a knowing look. “Tsk tsk, look at you. Turns out this whole breakup drama is just a cute little game, huh? Maybe I should try it with my own boyfriend when I get home.”

Hannah was lost for words for a moment.

Hannah shrugged, “Honestly, I just wanted to see how I’d do without him around.”

“Wait, so you couldn’t?” Candy blinked, surprised. “I never thought you’d be like that, Hannah.”

“It’s not that I couldn’t make it on my own,” Hannah replied. “I mean, I could, but it just wasn’t the same. It felt off.”

After more than six months, she’d gotten totally used to Barnaby’s hugs, his cooking, and all the little things that made life sweeter with him by her side.

Candy was beaming, nodding enthusiastically. “I net it I totallyl This is what being in love looks like! My Hannah has fallen head over heels. She’s stuck here in the Successfully unlocked! going back to being that celestial fairy she

used to be.”

Hannah just smiled, and they chatted about random stuff for a while. But it wasn’t long before her agent called.

Hannah walked her out the back door, helped her into her nanny van, and headed back to the south wing. Just then, she heard a commotion coming from the herbal medicine hall, along with someone shouting, “Nurse! Nurse! Someone’s been

Hannah rushed over and saw a woman in her fifties sprawled out on the floor, her mouth foaming and her body jerking uncontrollably. Next to her, a young woman in her twenties was desperately trying to wake her up, shaking her with all her might.

“Mom! Mom, are you okay? Don’t scare me! Mom!” the young woman cried, her voice trembling.

The other patients freaked out, backing away to either side. Evelyn poked her head out of the consultation room when she heard the noise, but Hannah waved her back to keep seeing patients and asked Carolyn to help out.

“Stop shaking her,” Hannah said, stepping forward and firmly holding the young woman back to keep her from jostling her mother any more.

Hannah recognized the woman on the floor, Willow, and her daughter Renee.

Renee saw Hannah and immediately clutched at her sleeve, her voice frantic. “Please, you have to help my mom!”

“Step aside,” Hannah said calmly.

Renee didn’t dare talk back to Hannah, so she quickly stepped aside. But as soon as she spotted Carolyn, she snapped at her, “Did you guys use seahorse in the prescription? I told you yesterday my mom’s allergic to that stuff! See? This is exactly what happens when she takes it!”

Carolyn recognized them right away and tried to soothe her. “Hey, relax. We know your mom’s allergic to seahorse. We already switched it out for eucommia bark. Just try to stay calm okay? Don’t make it harder for the Nameless Healer to help your mom.”

Renee’s eyes were red, but she stayed quiet, just watching Hannah check on her mom.

Hannah examined Willow closely, then spotted a broken medicine bowl on the floor with some herbal decoction still left inside. She reached out, picked up the half-full ceramic bowl, and brought it to her nose to sniff the remaining liquid. Her brows knitted as she handed the bowl to Elaine. “Hang onto this, and keep the herbal dregs too. Grab my acupuncture kit.”

Carolyn took it carefully. “Got it.”

“What’s wrong with my mom?” Renee asked, her voice trembling with worry.

Hannah gently wiped the foam from Willow’s mouth and pressed on her philtrum. “She’s in anaphylactic shock.”

Renee’s face fell, and she was about to demand answers, but Hannah cut her off. “Once we figure out what caused the allergic reaction, I’ll give you a full explanation. Right now, saving her life is what matters. Please step back.”

As she spoke, Hannah took the acupuncture kit Chloe had brought back, told her to keep the other patients in line and calm, then started the acupuncture treatment on Willow herself

Hannah stayed cool and collected the whole time. Seeing her so composed, the patients who had been scared out of their wits finally relaxed. Some even snuck out their phones to record the scene and post it online.

Comments started flooding in right away:

[My goddess is always so chill in a crisis. Love her to bits!]

[Holy crap! Is this at Ms. Carter’s clinic? Even the Nameless Healer can mess up sometimes?]

[Is the Nameless Healer getting too full of herself? Is someone actually gonna die here?]

[Is there any hospital or clinic nowadays that’s truly professional and never has accidents?]

The comments online were a mixed bag, but Hannah was totally oblivious to all the buzz. She took out her acupuncture needles, and after just a few precise insertions, Willow, who’d been convulsing and out cold, finally stopped twitching. Moments later, she came to and started vomiting, bringing up all the medicine she’d swallowed earlier.

“Mom! Are you alright?” Renee dashed over, practically trembling with worry.

Once Wollow was done throwing up, she looked way more comfortable. Hannah placed a few more acupuncture needles, and after half an hour, Willow’s face looked healthy again, like nothing had ever happened.

Hannah put together a new prescription and had Elaine make a esh batch of medicine.

Once Willow drank the new decoction, her symptoms were completely gone. Hannah even threw in a treatment to help with her allergies, just for good measure.

“Ms. Willow, Ms. Renee, I’m truly sorry. One of our staff was careless and gave Ms. Willow the old prescription by mistake. As compensation, if you ever feel unwell, you can come to our nic anytime, no need to make an appointment, and you’ll get free care here for life,” Hannah said.
