Chapter 296 Pop The Question?
Chapter 296 Pop The Question?
Hannah had no choice but to tell the driver to change the destination to a mall near Stoneview Park
Once they arrived at the mall, she and Barnaby started strolling around like a real couple.
“Your friend not coming?” Barnaby asked.
“She knew you were coming along and didn’t want to be a third wheel, so she skipped it,” Hannah replied casually. Then, changing the subject, she pointed at a white suit on a mannequin in the store window. “I think this suit looks great. Want to give it a try?”
“Baby, are you serious?” Barnaby looked at her, his dark eyes growing even more intense.
Hannah was so focused on figuring out how to ditch him and smeak off to the park next door that she completely missed the undertone in Barnaby’s words.
“What’s so serious about trying on a suit…” she muttered, heading for the store entrance. But as she turned the corner, she suddenly realized this was a bridal shop, the male mannequin was standing right next to a female mannequin in a wedding dress.
Hannah was lost for words.
Only then did it dawn on Hannah what Barnaby had really meant With the way this guy thinks, if you round it up, she’d basically just popped the question herself.
She suddenly wanted to bolt, but Barnaby caught her wrist.
“Let’s go in and try on the suit and the dress from the window,” he said.
He thought Hannah would look drop-dead gorgeous in a wedding dress. Hannah: “…Alright.”
“Welcome to Pronovias Bridal! What kind of wedding dress would you like to try on today?” The saleswoman greeted them with a big smile. When she recognized them, her eyes sparkled Barnaby, Ms. Carter, wow, you two are getting married? Congrats!”
Barnaby had never been into shopping. He’d always had designers come over and custom-make everything for him. But hearing the saleswoman’s excited congratulations, he thought to himself, ‘Maybe this whole shopping thing isn’t as bad as I thought.’
He pointed at the suit and the wedding dress in the window that Hannah had just mentioned. “Those two.”
“Right away,” the saleswoman said, quickly sending someone to take the dress off the mannequin.
Hannah carried the wedding dress into the fitting room. After a short while, she stepped out, and the saleswoman quickly approached.
“Ms. Carter, do you need any help?” she asked Hannah.
Hannah glanced over. Barnaby had already gone into his own fitting room. “Where’s the restroom? I need to go,” she said.
The saleswoman pointed out the direction, and Hannah made her way over.
When she got to the restroom, she slipped into the fire escape, Hurried down the stairs, and dashed out of the mall, heading straight for the park.
She had just found the koi pond when her phone rang, it was Barnaby calling.
Hannah was lost for words.
Hannah took a moment to steady her breath before picking up. “Hey, Barnaby.”
“Everything alright in there?” Barnaby asked.
Hannah checked the time. She’d already been gone for twenty minutes. Not wanting him to get suspicious, she blurted out, “Uh, I’ve got a bit of an upset stomach. And, uh, my period just started. Can you go buy me some pads?”
Barnaby was quiet for a moment, then said, “Isn’t your period supposed to be next week?”
Now Hannah was the one left speechless. ‘Seriously? Is he actually keeping track of my period? How does he even know that?’ she thought, a little freaked out.
while you’re at it,” Hannah said.

“It came early. Just go buy me some pads, and lahe
Barnaby: “…Alright.”
After hanging up, Hannah scanned the area around the koi pond There were plenty of tourists taking in the scenery, and for a moment, she couldn’t spot Allen anywhere.
“Mommy, look! Balloons! So many balloons!” a little kid shouted

Chapter 295 Pop The Question?
Just then, a huge bunch of colorful balloons suddenly popped up from behind the rockery by the koi pond, and a bunch of kids started squealing with excitement.
Each balloon had a letter on it, and they slowly drifted up into the sky. When they reached the middle, the strings holding them together came loose, and the balloons scattered in different directions.
Hannah looked up at the sky full of balloons and counted 15 in ptal, 13 letters and 2 numbers.
Her memory was pretty sharp. She managed to remember all the letters in just a few seconds. She started mixing and matching them in her mind, trying to see if they made any sense until one word finally clicked
Varastokaappi, Finnish for “locker.” And then there were the numbers: 0 and 9.
She dashed behind the rockery, but just as she expected, Allen was nowhere to be seen.
She remembered Allen once saying he had a thing for Santa Claus, and since Santa’s home is in Finland, he learned Finnish. He always dreamed of traveling there, maybe even living there one day.
Hannah remembered all this so clearly because, when she was a kid, she was just as naive and dreamy, and totally believed
in Santa too.
When Eric talked about going to Finland to find Santa, she wanted to go with him, so she learned a little Finnish herself. She used to imagine that if she ever got to Santa’s house, she could pick out any present she liked.
“Excuse me, do you know where the lockers are in the park?” Hannah asked a volunteer.
“There’s one just over by the south gate,” the volunteer replied, pointing the way.
Hannah made her way over to the south gate, found the lockers and glanced up at the camera facing them.
She pulled out her phone, punched in a code, and scanned it at the locker’s reader. With a soft beep, locker number 09 unlocked.
Inside was an envelope.
Hannah picked up the envelope, but didn’t rush to open it. She slipped into a corner where the cameras couldn’t see her before finally tearing it open.
Inside was a small slip of paper with a web address written on i
Hannah pulled up her browser and typed in the URL. Instantly, a page popped up asking for a password, with the hint being some crazy advanced math question.
Hannah was lost for words.
‘Seriously, if anyone ever calls Allen an idiot again, they’re asking for it,’ Hannah thought. ‘Only a genius like him could come up with something this wild and foolproof.”
Hannah did the math in her head, cracked the function problem and typed in the password.
The page loaded, it was a static site with two document links. She clicked on the first one, and it looked like crime scene photos. Just as she was about to open the full-size image, a figure suddenly appeared right in front of her.
Hannah quickly shut off her phone and looked up to see Barnaby’s familiar face suddenly right in front of her.
“Diarrhea in the bathroom? Period hit?” Barnaby leaned in, one hand braced against the tree behind her.
He was holding two bags, one was a convenience store bag stuffed with pads.
“Ahem, I just wanted you to see what it’s like buying pads. See if you’d get embarrassed. Hand them over,” Hannah said, reaching for the bag. She had to admit, it was kinda funny seeing a guy like him carrying pads around.
“Buying pads for my girlfriend? What’s there to be embarrassed about?” Barnaby said, pulling Hannah in close, his arm snug around her waist. “Let me see if you’re really telling the truth.”
Hannah was rocking some casual high-waisted jeans with her white T-shirt tucked in, showing off those long, straight legs.
Right now, Barnaby’s fingers were playing with the hem of her Tshirt, getting a little bold. Even though this spot was pretty out of the way, people still passed by sometimes, and public stuff really wasn’t Hannah’s thing.
Her cheeks warmed up, and she quickly caught Barnaby’s restless hand. “Nope, not happening. What, you get to tease me but I can’t tease you?”
Barnaby had already guessed Hannah was just making it up. She was always super regular, so her period coming a week early was definitely odd. But he wasn’t a woman, so he didn’t really get it, he still went ahead and bought the pads.
But just as he got to the convenience store, he got a message from Kaelin saying Hannah was in the area.
He picked up some pads and a pack of disposable underwear, then headed over.
‘Hannah is just way too incredible, Barnaby thought. ‘If I don’t watch her like a hawk, some bastard is bound to swoop in and steal her away!
