Chapter 297 Getting Special Treatment

Chapter 297 Getting Special Treatment

Seeing Hannah stay silent, Barnaby just smiled. “Not going to tell me? No worries. If you won’t, I’ll just find out myself.” He was already unfairly good-looking, and that smile of his was resistibly charming, but for some reason, Hannah felt a chill run down her spine.

Then Barnaby said coolly, “If it’s some bastard, I’ll break his legs Let’s see if he dares to try and lure you away again.”

Hannah was speechless.

‘Tsk, he’s threatening me now,’ she thought.

“Go ahead and investigate. Just let me know if you find anything,” Hannah said, giving Barnaby’s chest a playful pat before turning to leave.

A flash of something dark and dangerous flickered in Barnaby’s eyes. He glanced back over his shoulder, as if searching for something, then quickly caught up to Hannah.

Back in the study of the courtyard house, Hannah fired up her computer and reopened the website link from the envelope. She had to admit, Allen Thole was seriously meticulous. The calculus problem for the password hint had been swapped out for a new one.

Hannah worked through the new problem, entered the password, and opened the first document. Inside, there were only three photos.

She remembered there had been a dozen or so back in the park but now there were just three left.

‘Is it because I used a different password, so I’m seeing different photos? Or is there something else going on?’ Hannah wondered.

While she was still lost in thought, another photo disappeared right before her eyes.

‘Allen is deleting the photos!’ Hannah realized.

She quickly saved the last two photos to her computer, then launched her coding program and started typing at lightning speed, her fingers dancing rapidly over the keys.

Meanwhile, hidden away in a corner of Stoneview Park, Allen Thole was perched on the toilet seat in a deserted men’s restroom, baseball cap pulled low and a black mask covering his face.

He had his laptop balanced on his knees, keeping an eye on the time as he deleted the photos off the site, one after another.

Suddenly, his laptop’s firewall popped up a warning, someone was trying to break in.

Allen’s heart skipped a beat. Except for his phone’s hotspot, this laptop had never touched any other network. Bluetooth was always off, and it spent most of its life powered down. No way anyone should’ve been able to track it down.

He killed the hotspot on his phone, severing the connection. Instantly, the firewall warning vanished.

He shut the laptop, shoved it into his backpack, put on his sunglasses, yanked his cap down low, and walked out, making sure to keep his face hidden.

She stared at the failed intrusion alert on her screen, her almond-shaped eyes narrowing. ‘Allen is always so careful, so why would he deliberately let me see those photos?’ Hannah wondered.

The only explanation she could come up with was that he wanted her to investigate alongside him.

After all, both of them had been victims of that incident years ago, even though she no longer shared any blood ties with the Thole family.

Hannah went back to the page and opened the last two photos

They were evidence marker shots from the crime scene twelve years ago, when Alastair Thole died. The images were just photos taken of old physical prints, not the originals.

Even though the resolution was poor, Hannah could still make out the background, it was the main hall of the Thole family’ s Graceland. As a kid, she used to play hide-and-seek there with her foster father, foster mother, and Barnaby

After the incident, Graceland was sealed off are Successfully unlocked! the Thole family. She had no idea what it

looked like now.

These photos meant a lot to her. She couldn’t get her hands on her foster father’s case file, and all the clues her foster mother had gathered were lost when she passed away.

Allen definitely knew something, and he had to be holding onto more evidence. Maybe playing dumb was the only way he

could stay in the Thole family and keep investigating.

She needed to figure out a way to see him again, no matter what

Hannah went back to the page and saw the second file was still accessible. She clicked it open and found another photo

inside.

This one showed the back of a maid, wearing the Thole family’s current uniform. The background was under the locust tree in Kyson’s backyard. The photo was pretty blurry, like it had been snapped in a hurry. The shot was shaky and rushed.

‘So this is why Allen wanted me to check out his backyard. What exactly did he see? Hannah wondered.

Her eyes lit up as an idea struck her. She grabbed her phone and shot off a message to Iris.

Then she pulled up the clinic’s appointment system, scrolled through the list of patients waiting to be seen, and found the entry for David Lynch, who had booked an appointment for his son. She brought up the medical records he’d uploaded.

David’s son, Eric Lynch, had suffered a brain injury in a car accident, which damaged his central nervous system and left him paralyzed for over ten years.

Hannah moved her mouse and adjusted David’s waiting number bumping him up from over a thousand to next Sunday.

Back when she was at the Thole family, Maria had mentioned that Vera Thole was always looking for a doctor who could cure Allen. Hannah had her doubts about Allen’s illness, so she purposely claimed she wasn’t good with anything related to the brain.

If she just showed up now and said she could fix Allen, it would be way too on the nose, and that’s not how Hannah rolls.

She preferred it when people came to her, seeking her out for help.

So she needed someone to build up her reputation, and Eric Lynch, who’d been paralyzed for over a decade, was the perfect opportunity.

If Vera saw Hannah bring someone out of a vegetative state after ten-plus years, she’d definitely come to Hannah herself and ask her to treat Allen.

On the other side of town, over at the Lynch family’s house.

David was lounging in the living room, flipping through the newspaper, when his phone buzzed with a message. He set the paper down, picked up his cup and took a sip of tea, glancing at the screen.

[You have successfully booked an appointment at Ms. Carter’s flinic. Please arrive promptly at 9 AM on July 7th…]

Oliver’s hand trembled, and the hot tea burned his tongue, making him stick out his tongue in pain. He was wide awake now. This was really happening, not just some dream.

He set the cup down and dashed upstairs, calling out, “Honey, honey…”

Too excited to watch his step, he stumbled and fell on the stairs with a loud thud.

Mrs. Lynch was in the room taking care of Eric when she heard the commotion. She rushed out and saw David lying on the stairs, quickly helping him up. “Seriously, at your age, you should know better! What’s got you so worked up?”

David ignored the pain and excitedly handed his phone to his wife. “I got an appointment! I finally got in to see Hannah!” “What did you just say?” Mrs. Lynch thought she must’ve misheard. She stared at the message on the phone, reading it over and over, tears streaming down her face. “This is amazing! Eric might actually get better!”

Ever since her daughter’s scandal blew up at David’s birthday party, Mrs. Lynch hadn’t caught a single break.

She’d given birth to a son and a daughter. Her son was paralyze, so all her hopes had landed on her daughter. But then her daughter’s messy scandal trashed her reputation, leaving Mrs. Lynch with nothing to hold onto.

It was looking like the Lynch family was about to fall into the hands of Spencer, that illegitimate son. But out of nowhere, the universe threw her a massive curveball.

Turns out, maybe luck hasn’t abandoned her just yet.

“Yeah, this is incredible!” Oliver said excitedly, then suddenly thought of Spencer. “Did Spencer get the Nameless Healer to sneak me in through the backdoor?”

He remembered when he first booked, there were over a thousand people ahead of him in line, and now he’d been bumped straight to the top. Either the system bugged out, or someone was giving him some serious VIP treatment.

But the Nameless Healer was also Raven, a legendary hacker With Raven running the show, there’s no way the system would mess up on its own.

Mrs. Lynch’s smile faltered, her happy tears drying up in an instant. “What’s he got to do with this?”

Just then, Spencer walked in. Ignoring his wife, David rushed downstairs and asked, “Did you pull some strings for your brother?”

“What?” Spencer frowned, not getting it.

“I finally got an appointment at Ms. Carter’s clinic!” David exclaimed.

As soon as he heard that, Spencer’s expression shifted, his face turning grim. Without another word, he spun on his heel

and strode out.
