Chapter 298 Crazy About Possessiveness
Chapter 298 Crazy About Possessiveness
In the East Wing room, Barnaby sat at his desk, handling ernails on his computer.
Ronin sat across from him, intently watching the playback of security footage on his laptop.
The footage was from the south gate of Stoneview Park, showing the lockers. Ronin was rewinding the video from the moment Hannah arrived, trying to figure out who had left something for her
After two hours of watching at double speed, Ronin finally spotted someone dressed in all black, baseball cap, black mask, sunglasses, covered from head to toe, dropping something into locker number 09.
“Barnaby, I found it,” Ronin said, pausing the video and turning the screen toward Barnaby. “But he’s covered up too well.” Still, you could tell from his build he was a guy.
‘A man!’ Barnaby thought, his jaw tightening.
He switched the video back to normal speed and watched as the man in black placed an envelope inside, snapped a photo, and left, all in less than a minute.
Barnaby kept replaying the footage, and Ronin figured he was trying to guess who the guy was just by his build and the way he moved. But then Barnaby suddenly blurted out, “Do you think he left a love letter?”
Ronin was drinking water and almost spit it out, coughing hard
‘Seriously? Dressed like that, sneaking around the park just to drop off a love letter?’ Ronin thought, thinking how ridiculous it was.
Ronin knew Barnaby was always the smart one, but ever since he started dating, it was like his brain short-circuited whenever Hannah was involved.
Especially when it came to anything about Hannah.
He’d lost track of how many guys he’d had to run background checks on, if any man so much as showed up near Hannah or had the slightest connection to her, Barnaby would immediately say, “I want his full profile.”
‘Barnaby just says the word, and I’m the one running around like crazy.’ Ronin thought.
Right now, Ronin really didn’t want to look into this any further. Stoneview Park was massive, with hundreds of cameras. If he had to track every possible route and ID the guy in black, he’d probably go blind.
He had a ton of actual work waiting for him.
Thinking fast, Ronin said, “Nope. Love letters are usually in pink or red envelopes. He used a white one, so it’s definitely not a love letter. Besides, whatever he wrote, it’s not like he’s got a shot with Hannah. She’s already yours.”
That actually made Barnaby feel better. He nodded, looking satisfied. “You make a good point.”
Ronin felt a weight lift off his shoulders, but then Barnaby spoke up again:
“I want his full profile in forty-two hours. I want to see who’s got the balls to even think about making a move on my girl.” Ronin could only stare in disbelief.
‘Boss, your possessiveness over your girl is seriously next level. Can you chill out a little?’ Ronin thought, feeling totally helpless.
Just then, Hannah knocked and walked in. Barnaby shot Ronin a look, signaling for him to leave.
“Barnaby, has Percival been around lately?” Hannah asked.
She remembered that before she came back, Percival was the one looking after Barnaby’s condition. Ever since she took over, he didn’t come around as much.
Last week, when they were hiring a medicinal chef, Hannah even got a resume from Percival. He was just joining in for fun. But Barnaby had him leave.
Barnaby looked at her, a bit suspicious. “Why are you suddenly asking about him?”
Barnaby had sent Percival overseas to work on treatment for Hannah’s fear of the dark. Whenever she had an episode, her body’s emergency response was totally abnormal, not your typical phobia. And the craziest part? Hannah herself didn’t even realize she had this issue.

Hannah asked, “If Percival isn’t too busy, can I borrow him for a few days?”
She remembered Percival specialized in neuroscience, and he had some seriously impressive academic achievements in
that field.

Since Percival worked for Barnaby, she had to ask Barnaby first she could borrow him.
Barnaby frowned “Am I not enough for you?”
Hannah blinked, then realized what he meant. She pouted, “Youte such a pery!”
Barnaby laughed, pulling her into his arms and settling her onto his lap. “Since you called me a perv, maybe I should show you what that really means.”
“Be serious!” Hannah quickly grabbed his wandering hands. “I’ve got a patient in a vegetative state I remember Percival specializes in neuroscience, so I was hoping he could come take a look with me”
Two heads were definitely better than one. Plus, they’d worked together on a surgery before and had great chemistry.
Barnaby’s heart ached for her. “That’s a pretty complicated case. Why don’t you just pass on it? You’re only eighteen, you don’t have to push yourself so hard. Even if you never worked another day in your life, I could take care of you. Don’t wear yourself out. How about we go on a date the day after tomorrow”
Come to think of it, they’d never actually gone on a real date before.
Hannah arched a brow. “The day after tomorrow?”
“Mm-hmm,” Barnaby replied.
Hannah turned and stared him down. “Why not tomorrow?”
“Uh… because…” Barnaby scrambled for a reason that wouldn’t sound totally fake but still made sense.
But Hannah didn’t let him finish. She cut in, “Have you been snooping on my schedule?”
The day after tomorrow was the day she had a meeting with Howard at the Thole Group headquarters.
Barnaby cleared his throat, looking a little guilty.
Hannah caught that and thought, ‘I knew it.’
She looked a little annoyed. “Why do you always try to stop me from going to the Thole Group?”
Ever since she signed the contract, he’d kept subtly trying to get her to quit.
“The Thole family’s project isn’t going to work out. I don’t want you wasting your time and energy on it,” Barnaby said, finally voicing his concerns.
Hannah listened to his confident tone, thinking about the booming Xenith Systems Group, her own reasons for joining the Thole Group, and Spencer as the wild card. She had to admit, the odds of the Thole Group’s new chip project actually succeeding didn’t look too promising.
But she wasn’t bothered at all. She was dead set on getting what she wanted.
“Don’t worry about it. Just let me borrow Percival for a few days, and I’ll go on a date with you tomorrow, deal?” she coaxed, looping her arms around Barnaby’s neck.
Barnaby just frowned, seeing she still wouldn’t let go of the Thale Group idea. He didn’t agree, but he didn’t refuse either. Right then, his phone rang on the desk. He glanced at the caller ID, let go of Hannah, and stepped out to take the call. Just then, Hannah’s phone buzzed, a text from Spencer Lynch, sending her an address.
She remembered Spencer had promised her the exclusive code that could go up against Vulcan, so she got up to head out. As she moved, her hand brushed the mouse, and the computer screen flipped over to the browser
She happened to spot the search history:
“How to plan a date she’ll never forget”
“How to plan the perfect date”
“Date tips and tricks”
Hannah’s eyes widened in surprise. ‘Wait, Barnaby actually has look stuff up for this? Here I was thinking he was just a total smooth operator when it came to romance!’
