Chapter 299 Take Down Bamaby Together
Chapter 299 Take Down Barnaby Together
Barnaby finished his call in the yard and turned to see Hannah heading out with her bag from the west wing. He checked the time. It was already nine.
‘What’s that girl up to so late?’ Barnaby thought.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
Hannah paused. Knowing Barnaby, if she told him she was going to see Spencer, there was no way she’d be allowed out tonight.
‘Candy’s not feeling well. I’m going to check on her,” she lied.
“I’m heading out anyway. I’ll give you a ride,” Barnaby said, heading inside to grab his car keys.
Hannah was lost for words.
‘If he really drives me, he’ll see right through my story, Hannah thought.
“No, it’s fine. You go take care of your own stuff, Hannah said quickly.
Barnaby raised an eyebrow at her easygoing attitude. “Not even going to ask where I’m headed? You really trust me that much?”
After all, this was the guy who could keep his head straight even with a gorgeous woman in his arms and under the influence. Hannah had no reason to worry.
But since he was playing along, Hannah decided to go with it. She stepped up, grabbed his tie, and teased, “Barnaby, thinking of trading in your queen, huh?”
“Not a chance!” Barnaby shot back right away. “How could I just swap out my one and only? You only get one in this lifetime.”
Hannah laughed, smoothing out his tie with both hands. “Then what’s there for me to worry about? Go do your thing.” Barnaby leaned down and kissed her forehead. “You sure you don’t want me to drive you?”
“No, I’ve already booked a ride,” Hannah replied.
“No way, I don’t trust you riding with some random driver, Barnaby said. “Alright, you’ve got two choices: Joe can take you there and bring you back when you’re finished, or he can just bring Candy over here instead.”
‘He’s basically giving me no choice at all!’ Hannah thought.
Besides, the clinic was already closed at this hour, and Joe and the others had probably gone back to the apartment complex. Her grandma was probably getting ready for bed. She always turned in early.
Barnaby didn’t even give Hannah a chance to refuse before he was already dialing Joe.
Hannah was speechless.
‘Is he really just openly having someone spy on me?’ Hannah thought.
‘Ugh, not having a license is the worst. I really need to get one ASAP!’ Hannah thought.
Joe showed up with the car in no time.
“Text me when you get there,” Barnaby said, putting Hannah in the back seat. He watched as she gave Joe Candy’s apartment address, then shut the door and stood at the entrance, watching them leave. Only after they were gone did he head back to his own car.
Once they’d driven far enough that the clinic was out of sight, Hannah leaned forward and said to Joe, “Hey, Joe, take me to Nocturne Grand instead.”
“Weren’t we supposed to go to Candy’s place?” Joe asked.
“Not anymore,” Hannah replied.
Even Joe, usually pretty oblivious, realized Hannah had just lied o Barnaby.
‘If Barnaby asks, should I tell him the truth or just keep quiet?’ Joe wondered.
He was on Barnaby’s payroll, sure, but Hannah had done him a solid, no way was he going to rat her out.
Joe kept debating with himself the whole drive what to do.
to my to octurne Grand, Hannah told him straight up Successfully unlocked!
‘Joe, just park somewhere and wait for me. And don’t tell Barnaby, okay?” Hannah said before getting out of the car.
“Got it,” Joe replied.
Hannah walked into Nocturne Grand and gave the bartender the VIP room number Spencer had sent her. As soon as he

realized it was a VIP suite, he perked up and personally escorted her up to the third floor.
“Right here,” the bartender said, knocking on the door for Hanna
Hannah had expected Spencer wanted a private chat, but as soon as the door swung open, she was greeted by flashing neon lights, clouds of smoke, and a total party chaos.
Guys and girls were all over the place, singing, dancing, gambling, making a racket. The noise was insane, and no one even glanced her way as she walked in.
Hannah wrinkled her nose in annoyance. She really couldn’t stand this kind of messy, mixed-up crowd.
Scanning the room, Hannah quickly spotted Spencer with his eye-catching green hair, lounging on the couch, playing dice and drinking with a bunch of people.
If Spencer hadn’t texted her to come get what she wanted, there was no way she’d be here.
Weaving through the crowd, Hannah made her way over. When pencer saw her, he scooted over and patted the seat next to him. “Come on, join the fun.”
Hannah’s frown deepened. “Where’s the stuff?”
Spencer leaned in close, pretending not to hear. “What was that”
Hannah was lost for words.
Hannah was seriously tempted to jab him with a couple of needles.
His rowdy crew, catching the vibe, shot Spencer some meaningful looks and asked, “Spencer, who’s this?”
Spencer waved for everyone to quiet down. “Alright, listen up, let me introduce you. This is Hannah. She is your sister-in- law…”
Hannah cut him off with a frosty glare before he could finish. “Shut up!”
Everyone was stunned. ‘Whoa, she’s got some serious guts! She actually called Spencer out!’
Not only did Hannah stand up to him, she grabbed Spencer by the collar and dragged him out. “Come with me.”
“Let go! With all my guys watching, can’t you at least cut me some slack?” Spencer protested.
Spencer tried to pry Hannah’s hand off, but she wouldn’t budge, yanking him along.
He was a good head taller than her, but with her gripping his collar, he had to hunch over and follow. The whole room was too intimidated by Hannah’s attitude to even think about stopping her.
Once they were out of the room, Hannah finally let go of him. “Where’s the stuff?”
“Tsk,” Spencer said, straightening his collar but not handing anything over. Instead, he shot back, “Did Barnaby ask you to treat Eric?”
Hannah frowned. “What’s that got to do with him?”
Spencer let out a mocking laugh. “Isn’t it obvious? He wants you to fix Eric so he can block me from inheriting the Lynch family, stir up trouble for me, and keep me too busy to compete with him for people.”
Hannah was speechless.
‘Man, the way Spencer jumps to conclusions is just wild!’ Hannah thought, exasperated.
She tried to keep her cool and explained, “This has nothing to do with him.”
“I don’t care. Drop Eric’s case, and I’ll give you what you want,” Spencer said in a bossy tone.
Hannah hated being ordered around, and hated it even more when someone tried to mess with her plans. “Then I don’t want it,” she shot back.
Hannah was lost for words.
Spencer was caught off guard. ‘Hold up, how could this total study addict not fall for the bait of my one-of-a-kind code?” She used to be a complete code junkie, whenever he threw her new task, she’d crush it and then some. Her learning skills were off the charts.
He’d always had to remind her to chill out and not burn herself out, but Hannah would just laugh and say, “I just can’t say no to code.”
But now, even his secret code had lost its magic on her.
‘Like it’s not all because of Barnaby!’ Spencer grumbled to himself.
“Do you always have to be so unpredictable?” Spencer grabbed Jannah’s wrist as she tried to leave, stopping her. “Alright, I’ Il give it to you.”
Hannah paused, about to shake off his hand, giving him a wary ok. ‘What’s his game this time?’ she thought,

“You want my code because you want to take Barnaby down, right? Guess that makes us partners. Let’s wreck him together. Take it,” Spencer said, fishing a USB drive from his pocket and handing it to her.
Hannah took it, pulled her hand free, and turned to go, but froze when she spotted Barnaby standing in the hallway His piercing, fox-like eyes locked onto her, dark and intense, not blinking once, sending a chill straight down Hannah’s spine.
Is he totally misunderstanding this?’ Hannah thought, her heart skipping a beat.
