Chapter 307 No Work Together
Chapter 307 No Work Together
‘No need. Just bring me the prescriptions that use these herbs and the patient records too, Hannah said confidently. For a quick fix, what Elaine suggested would do, but it wasn’t something you could rely on for the long hauf
It was obvious Chloe had teamed up with the Reese family, all just to try and put her down.
Did they really think this would leave her with no options?
They really had no idea what Hannah was capable of.
Elaine went to grab the prescriptions, while Carolyn pulled up the patient records. They brought everything over in no time.
After Hannah finished reviewing the patient records, she cross-checked them with the prescriptions and confidently replaced the hasma and turtle shell with two alternative ingredients.
Everyone crowded around, checking out the revised prescription, and couldn’t help but let out words of admiration.
Vicky said, “Using the black snake instead of the turtle shell might be a bit less effective, but it won’t make a big difference Plus, it’ll help treat the patient’s chronic hives at the same time.
Kathleen exclaimed, “Whoa, you can do that? No wonder you’re my goddess!”
Elaine said, “Awesome! We’ve got plenty of toad oil and black snake in stock, but they’re a bit pricey.”
Carolyn said, “Looks like someone really miscalculated this time”
Joe watched everyone rushing around to fix the problems Chloe had stirred up, and he couldn’t do a thing to help. Frustration at Chloe welled up inside him, but after the anger faded, all that was left was a crushing sense of helplessness and self-blame.
He thought, ‘I came out here with Hannah, but instead of being any help, I’ve just ended up causing her even more trouble.” ‘Maybe I should just go… at least then I wouldn’t keep dragging her down.’
Hannah handed out the revised prescriptions for everyone to get to work, then glanced up and noticed Joe sitting off in the
corner.
There were dark circles under his eyes, and he looked totally defeated. It was obvious he hadn’t slept a wink all night because of what Chloe had done.
Hannah could totally relate to how he felt. Getting betrayed by someone close to you really stings. But for her, she could just throw herself into work and push those feelings aside. She could even be cold-blooded enough to cut ties with someone she’d known for over a decade.
But for Joe, Chloe was his little sister, the only family he had left in this world. He could never bring himself to be as heartless as she was.
All she could do was try to help him see things more clearly.
Hannah wasn’t great at comforting people, but seeing Joe looking so crushed bothered her too.
“Joe,” she said softly as she walked over.
When Joe saw Hannah was finally done, he quickly got up. “Hannah, I’m sorry. I couldn’t keep Chloe under control, and I ended up causing so much trouble for the clinic. I’m really sorry!
“You don’t need to apologize,” Hannah reassured him. Seeing he was still so down, she added, “Staff turnover and market shifts happen all the time. It’s just part of the business.”
“And like I said, this was Chloe’s decision. Even if she hadn’t left something else would’ve come up. You can’t shoulder all the responsibility. You’re not her.”
“Thanks,” Joe said, feeling a little guilty that Hannah had to comfort him. “I’m not really any help around here. Maybel should just quit.”
“Who says you’re not helping?” Hannah packed up some herbs and handed them to him. “Take these over to the Todd family for me. And by the way, Christopher Todd invited me to a get-together, but I’m too busy lately. Go in my place, will you?”
Joe was caught off guard, looking at her, and felt a strange warmth in his chest.
He took the package. “Okay.”
“Drive safe,” Hannah reminded him.
“Okay,” Joe replied.

Chapter 307 No Work Together
As soon as she logged in, she noticed one of the supplier chat groups was buzzing about Chloe offering crazy prices to buy up herbs. The latest message was from Frances Harrison.
Frances: [Chloe really knows how to go big. Just the profit from the turtle shell alone is more than what I make in half a year.]
The Nameless Healer: [Anyone still got any hasma, turtle shell, uttlefish bone, or white snail shells?)
As soon as Hannah sent her message, the chat group, which had been buzzing with activity, went dead silent.
On the other end, Frances was still typing when he suddenly saw The Nameless Healer’s avatar pop up with the list of
herbs.
He stared at the screen, making sure he wasn’t hallucinating. ‘Holy crap… The Nameless Healer is actually online! His hands hovered over the keyboard, completely stunned.
He awkwardly deleted the half-written message he was typing, and even thought about taking back what he’d just sent. He’d only been working with The Nameless Healer for half a year but the title of “The Nameless Healer’s Supplier” had brought him a ton of business. Honestly, The Nameless Healer was his golden goose.
But not long ago, Chloe, who’d always been the one connecting him with Ms. Carter’s clinic, suddenly told him she was leaving and wanted to go solo. She asked him to supply her with herbs.
Frances was happy to have another client, but Chloe’s request was a bit much. She wanted all the same herbs as Ms. Carter’s clinic, plus every last hasma and turtle shell he had in stock.
If it were just the regular market price, Frances would never have sold her all of them. Those were the star items he supplied to Ms. Carter’s clinic.
He could cut off anyone else, but there was no way he’d ever cut off his golden goose.
But Chloe was offering three times the market price. He was a businessman. When it comes to business, cash is king; whoever pays more calls the shots.
Plus, the contract he had with Ms. Carter’s clinic didn’t say he had to deliver a set amount every month. As long as the other herbs kept coming, he was in the clear.
So he sold the herbs to Chloe and was just bragging about it in the group chat when, out of nowhere, The Nameless Healer, who almost never showed up, suddenly logged in. He got caught red-handed.
Frances’s joy quickly turned to panic. If The Nameless Healer got upset, he might lose his status as “The Nameless Healer’ s Supplier” for good. He thought of Gary Jackson, who also sold herbs to Chloe, and immediately gave him a call.
Not long after, Gary posted an explanation in the group chat.
Gary: [The Nameless Healer, sorry about this. My guys couldn’t collect the herbs, so I couldn’t process them for you. I went around several fishing villages, but the cuttlefish bone and white snail shells were all snatched up at sky-high prices. I just couldn’t get any. I’m really at a loss here.]
Seeing this, Frances quickly jumped in to explain too.
Frances: [Same here. The hasma and turtle shell I sold to Chloe were just leftover stock. I figured I could source new ones in time for you, but my team came up empty-handed. If I’d know it would turn out like this, I never would’ve let Chloe have that batch.]
Hannah’s gaze was icy as she read their one-size-fits-all excuses
These people always claimed to revere The Nameless Healer, but when profits were on the line, it was all just business to them.
‘So it’s all about who pays the most, huh?’ Hannah thought to herself.
She wanted to see just how much money the Reese family was willing to throw around to help Chloe monopolize the market for those four herbs.
Hannah typed in the group chat: [Since you can’t guarantee the supply, there’s no reason for us to work together anymore. @Frances @Gary]
On the other end, Frances and Gary both saw the message, and t hit them like a bolt from the blue.
They frantically tried to send messages to explain themselves, but then realized Hannah had already left the group. Worse yet, several clients who only worked with them because of The Hameless Healer’s reputation started dropping them like hot potatoes.
