The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 310

Chapter 310 Beg Me

Chapter 310 Beg Me

“Come on, ladies! This is my precious granddaughter Chloe Jones’s medicinal restaurant. Her herbal dishes are incredible. I only had them for three days, and my blood pressure and cholesterol went down in no time, with zero side effects? Mrs. Reese was giving her old friends a tour of the medicinal restaurant.

As they passed by the herb display cabinet, one of the ladies spotted the herbs behind the glass and stopped in her tracks. “Hey, aren’t these the four herbs the Nameless Healer is looking for?” she asked.

Mrs. Reese instantly caught on that Chloe had put those four herbs front and center on purpose, just to show what she could do.

It was a little sneaky, but Mrs. Reese liked it.

“Wow, you actually know your herbs?” Mrs. Reese asked the wealthy lady.

The rich lady said, “Isn’t this the batch the Nameless Healer’s been hunting for? It’s been blowing up online. I saw the photos, and these herbs are selling for sky-high prices.

“Chloe, you’ve got some serious skills! Even the Nameless Healer couldn’t get his hands on them, but you did!”

Chloe linked arms with Mrs. Reese and flashed a sweet smile. It’s all because of your support, Grandma. Thank you so

much.”

As soon as Chloe said that, Mrs. Reese’s longtime friends who always tried to stay in her good graces instantly caught on. They’d been close with Mrs. Reese for decades, of course they knew Evelyn Carter was once Mr. Reese’s “perfect lover,” the one he could never forget, and Mrs. Reese’s sworn rival back then.

Back in college, Mrs. Reese had her heart set on Mr. Reese, but he only had eyes for Evelyn. But Evelyn came from humble beginnings and didn’t match the Reese family’s status, so the family broke up those star-crossed lovers and Mr. Reese ended up marrying Mrs. Reese instead.

Even though Mrs. Reese got to marry the man she loved, all her old friends knew Mr. Reese could never forget Evelyn. The couple had fought over Evelyn more times than anyone could count, so it was obvious just how much Mrs. Reese resented Evelyn.

Now Evelyn Carter had set up a clinic in Kinswood with her fake granddaughter, Hannah, and they were going head-to-head with the Reese family. They even made the Reese family’s stock take a hit for a while, of course Mrs. Reese was mad about

that.

Those four herbs? Mrs. Reese had totally given Chloe the silent go-ahead to use them, just to suppress Ms. Carter’s clinic.

“Chloe is seriously impressive. Back when she was at Ms. Carter’s clinic, her medicinal cuisine kept the place afloat. Now that she’s gone solo, the clinic had to close down because they couldn’t get the herbs anymore,” one of the ladies said.

“Totally! So what if Evelyn and Hannah are supposed to be miracle doctors? All they know is how to treat patients. They still have to count on Chloe for the medicinal cuisine,” another chimed in.

“Oh, come on, that little clinic of Ms. Carter’s can’t even compare to the Reese family’s hospital. The Reese family is a century-old medical family!

“I bet those folks from the clinic will be showing up soon, begging Chloe to sell them herbs. In the end, they’re still living at the mercy of the Reese family,” a third added.

Mrs, Reese’s longtime friends were all sharp as tacks. Since they wanted to stay on her good side, they naturally said whatever she liked to hear, talking down Evelyn and Hannah while hyping up Chloe.

Hearing them talk, Chloe couldn’t help but feel a little sheepish,

Other people might not know, but Chloe knew her own limits. Hannah could whip up any herbal dish Chloe could. It was just that Hannah was too lazy to actually make them, so Chloe got all the glory by default.

Mrs. Reese, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear. Who didn’t love hearing nice things about themselves?

Just as everyone was busy singing Chloe’s praises, a nurse walked over and said, “Chloe, there’s an old lady at the door asking for you,”

When Chloe heard “old lady,” she got excited. ‘She’s here!’ Chloethought to herself.

Successfully unlocked!

the lobby. You’re about to see something fun.”

She leaned in close to Mrs. Reese and whisper

Mrs. Reese immediately caught on to Chloe’s part couser to the lobby. Sure enough, it was Evelyn Carter.

Evelyn showed up in a fitted gray dress, radiant and graceful, st had that undeniable allure. Mrs. Reese couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy.

They were about the same age, but Evelyn had her beat hands down, her skin was glowing, and her figure was still on point “Speak of the devil, and she appears,” one of the ladies whispered

“She’s here to buy herbs, isn’t she?” another chimed in.

“Looks like we’re in for a show,” a third added.

The group started gossiping in hushed tones, all waiting for the drama to unfold.

Chloe couldn’t help feeling a bit let down when she saw that only Evelyn Carter had come. Hannah was nowhere in sight.

She walked up and said, “Aunt Evelyn, you really came! But wher’s Hannah? Is she upset with me or something?”

Evelyn didn’t answer Chloe’s question. Instead, she took Chloe’s hand and said, “Chloe, you’ve scooped up all four of those herbs, haven’t you? You really need to stop, this is throwing the whole market into chaos.”

Evelyn had been wanting to see Chloe again, but she just hadn’t been able to reach her.

Then out of the blue last night, Chloe called and said her medicinal restaurant was having its soft opening today, and invited Evelyn and Hannah to drop by.

Hannah was busy prepping for Eric Lynch’s surgery, so Evelyn didn’t want to distract her. Since the clinic happened to be closed today, Evelyn decided to come alone and check things out.

She also wanted to have a word with Chloe, hoping she’d stop messing with the market prices. It’s really not helping

anyone.

“Yeah, I did buy them all. But why didn’t Hannah come herself? Why’d she send you instead?” Chloe pulled her hand back, feeling a bit embarrassed. She figured Hannah must’ve sent Evelyn over to try and talk some sense into her.

“Anna…,” Evelyn began, her voice trailing off, but Mrs. Reese cut her off before she could finish.

“Evelyn, if you’re here to ask for herbs, you’d better act the part!” Mrs. Reese interrupted, her face radiating pride. “Every last bit of those four herbs in the country is in the Reese family’s hands now. Think you can get any?”

Evelyn glanced at Mrs. Reese, surprised to see her there. She pursed her lips and said nothing.

“Well, it’s not impossible,” Mrs. Reese sneered, pointing toward the door. “Go outside, start from the entrance of Grace Hospital, and kneel every three steps, bowing as you come all the way here. Maybe then I’ll consider selling you the herbs.”

Evelyn’s expression grew cold. “You’re really crossing the line!”

“Ha! So what if I am? What can you do about it?” Mrs. Reese replied, her tone full of arrogance.

Evelyn really couldn’t do anything about it. She glanced at Chloe standing next to Mrs. Reese, then at the group of old friends behind them, all waiting for the show. Suddenly, it hit her Chloe had only called her here to put her on display and humiliate her.

‘And here I was, actually hoping I could talk Chloe out of this, Evelyn thought, feeling a wave of disappointment. She let out a disappointed sigh. “I just hope you don’t end up wasting all those herbs.”

Chloe was just about to ask what Evelyn meant when, all of a sudden, a crowd burst into the lobby and closed in around her.

“Miss Chloe, don’t you think you’ve gone too far? You’re paying us up north just triple the price, but down south you’re offering twelve times as much! Are you looking down on us northerners or what?” someone from the crowd shouted. “Yeah! I’m not selling you my batch of cuttlefish bones anymore. I’ll refund your money and pull my shipment,” another guy yelled.

“Me too, with my white snail shells. You haven’t even paid me in full, so I’m just breaking the deal, whatever,” a third person added.

Chloe recognized all these people, they were the same ones shed been buying herbs from lately, especially Frances Harrison and Gary Jackson, who were leading the charge.

“Mr. Harrison, Mr. Jackson, what’s going on here?” Chloe asked rying to sound calm

“Chloe, you’re really out of line! We risked getting on the Nameless Healer’s bad side just to sell you those herbs, and you only pay us three times the price, but twelve times for the southern market!

“Now we’ve pissed off the Nameless Healer because of you, you better give us an explanation!’ Frances snapped, his voice full of anger.
