Chapter 324 He Had To Stay Alert

Chapter 324 He Had To Stay Alert

Eleanor hadn’t expected that just saying something offhand would get Hannah to immediately connect it to the medicine that had been switched for Iris.

She thought, Kyson is usually so sly, but today he’s so easily spooked. Hannah only said a couple of things and he totally slipped up. Seriously, what a letdown!’

If she tried to help him now, she’d just be dragging herself into trouble.

“I want to believe you, but the medicine was found in your backyard. I have no idea what’s going on, so I can’t stand up for you,” Eleanor said.

She took a step back, as if he was contagious.

Kyson shot Eleanor a wide-eyed look. “You-”

Ever since Iris had dug up that medicine in his backyard, he hadn’t been able to relax for a second, always racking his brain over who could’ve buried it there.

Suddenly, it hit him.

‘It was her! Eleanor!

‘It had to be her!’ he thought.

She’d egged him on to swap out the medicine, then had someone bury it in his backyard.

Once it got found, that’d be the day he was kicked out of the Thole family, and then nobody would be left to fight her son for the spot as family head.

‘This is Eleanor’s classic two-birds-with-one-stone trick!

‘I was such a fool to trust her, and I almost caused Iris to lose her baby because of it!’ he thought.

“It was you! You had someone bury that medicine in my backyard!” Kyson shouted, pointing accusingly at Eleanor.

Eleanor’s face turned stormy. “Kyson, say what you want, but don’t go throwing wild accusations around! Just because l can’t vouch for you, you’re pinning this on me? That’s ridiculous

“I’m not lying! Iris, she’s the one framing me! She buried that medicine-she’s trying to ruin me!” Kyson turned, clinging to Iris, tears streaming down his face as he pleaded.

Mabel, worried he might accidentally hurt Iris’s unborn child, quickly stepped in to separate them, shielding Iris protectively behind her.

Hannah’s icy gaze darted between Eleanor and Kyson, reading between the lines of their conversation. Something’s definitely up here.

And Kyson’s reaction-he didn’t even hesitate before accusing Eleanor. He clearly knows more than he’s letting on.

If the culprit is one of these two, it totally makes sense why Iris could never figure out who swapped her meds.

The culprit knows exactly what evidence Iris has, so they can set her up whenever they want.

Hannah’s gaze finally landed on Eleanor. The sun was blazing, and Eleanor’s hair and clothes, which had been drenched earlier, were almost dry now. Yet she still had that yellow silk scarf wrapped around her neck.

If they were indoors with the AC blasting, it wouldn’t be a big deal. But out here under the scorching sun, Eleanor was

sweating buckets, hiding in the shade, fanning herself, but still wouldn’t take off that scarf. That was just odd.

Suddenly, Hannah remembered the voice from the restored aud. It sounded nothing like Eleanor’s voice now, but Barnaby s first reaction had been that it was hers.

But when Hannah checked Eleanor’s records, there was no mention of any surgery.

Sure, public records could be faked, but surgical scars? You can just make those disappear.

But how was Hannah supposed to figure out if Eleanor had any surgical scars on her neck?

Hannah glanced back. Kyson was still bawling his eyes out, tugging at Eleanor, and the heat and the noise were giving everyone a headache.

If Allen would just come clean and spill what he saw, this whole mess would be over in a heartbeat.

But Allen just sat there on the ground, letting t Successfully unlocked! wels while the family doctor patched up the

scrapes on his hands and feet.

He kept his head down, looking like he was still shaken from falling into the water, but behind those long lashes, his eyes were sharp and alert, listening intently to every word they said.

Suddenly, Allen felt two gazes zeroing in on him. He looked up and locked eyes with Hannah’s cold stare.

Just as Hannah started to walk over, Allen’s eyes flickered nervously, then he shoved the people next to him, scrambled up. and bolted.

As he ran, he yelled like a scared kid, “There’s a water ghost! There’s a water ghost! Maria, where are you? The water ghost’s coming for me! I’m scared…”

Hannah was speechless.

He’s running again?’ she thought.

“Allen!” The servants and the family doctor jumped in surprise, but before they could even react, he’d already dashed off, putting a good distance between them.

“Allen!” Vera, worried he might get hurt, hurried after the servants, chasing after him.

Hannah was pretty sure who the culprit behind the medicine swap was, but she still wanted to hear what Allen had to say

So she said, “You guys keep grilling them. I’ll go check on Allen hyself.”

Hannah kept her distance, following Vera all the way until they ended up back at Allen’s house.

Allen had locked himself in his room, and Vera was pleading with him from outside the door. “Allen, come on, open up. Let me take a look and make sure you’re okay.”

“Lady, here’s the key to Allen’s room,” a servant said, handing her the key.

“Open the door,” Vera urged.

“Let me do it,” Hannah said suddenly, snatching the key from the servant’s hand.

The servant looked over at Vera, waiting for her instructions.

“He’s really upset right now. Let me go in and see how he’s doing. You all wait out here,” Hannah said.

Vera nodded without a second thought.

Hannah unlocked the door and slipped inside. The curtains were drawn tight, and the room was so dark it made her feel

uneasy.

“Allen, it’s me,” she said softly, closing the door behind her and trying to ignore the discomfort. “Can you turn on the light?”

The room was dead silent.

Hannah was left totally speechless.

With a click, Hannah finally found the light switch and turned it on.

The whole room was painted in nothing but gray, and there was no sign of Allen anywhere.

But the closet door was cracked open, so Hannah went over and opened it up.

Inside was Allen-this tall guy, over six feet-curled up in the cramped closet, hugging his knees and crammed in among the hanging clothes. He looked downright pitiful.

“Didn’t you want to talk to me?” Hannah asked softly.

“Ghost! There’s a water ghost! There’s a water ghost!” Allen kep scooting further back, like he wished he could disappear right into the wall.

Hannah couldn’t help but roll her eyes. ‘Come on, it’s just us here. Why are you still pretending?’ she thought.

But no matter what Hannah said, Allen just stayed silent, refusing to respond.

Hannah sighed, but she got it. In this ruthless Thole family, he always had to stay on guard.

She spotted a phone with a lanyard sitting on the nightstand-Maria would hang it around his neck for him, so he wouldn’t get lost and could always be reached.

“I’ll give you my number. If you ever need anything, you can reach me anytime.”

As she spoke, she picked up the phone.

The phone wasn’t locked, so she opened it up, saved her number in his contacts, and gave herself a ring so she’d have his number too.

“If you ever feel like you can’t talk here, just come find me at my linic,” Hannah whispered, putting the phone down in front

of him.

Allen looked up and, just as Hannah was about to leave, reached out to stop her With his other hand, he quickly typed something into his phone’s notes app and flashed the screen ather

[Kyson, Eleanor.]

The moment Hannah saw it, Allen erased the message.

Hannah smiled and whispered, “See you at the clinic.”

Vera waited anxiously outside the door, her fingers working the prayer beads as she quietly murmured prayers under her

breath.

The door clicked open from inside, and Vera rushed to ask, “How is he? Is Allen alright? Is there hope for hirn?”

Hannah closed the door behind her. “Go ahead and register him

Vera’s face broke into a wide smile. “Yes, yes! That’s wonderful. Thank the Buddha!”

“Nameless Healer, hurry, go save him! Kyson tried to kill himself The servant burst in, panting, and shouted.
