The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 342

Chapter 342 Marry Me

Chapter 342 Marry Me

Hannah was the third to find a coin in her dumpling.

She remembered that back when she was living with the Thole family, they used to wrap coins inside dumplings for the New Year’s Eve feast. After leaving Kinswood and moving down south, she hadn’t done that in years, and she kind of missed those days.

Candy was the fourth to find a coin. She held it in her palm and grinned, “Wow, I wish my movie becomes a box office smash this year!”

Evelyn was the fifth to get a coin in her dumpling. “I got one too she said.

The sixth coin was found by Aurelia and Joe at the same time. Aurelia grinned, “Looks like we’re in for a lucky year!” Then it was Spencer’s turn. He glanced over at Barnaby, a smug little smile on his lips-he’d found the coin before Barnaby did, and that made his night.

When most people were finishing up, Felicity finally found a coin in her dumpling. She set her chopsticks aside, satisfied- she was done eating for the night.

“Well, well, ten coins and nine people got one. Barnaby, looks like luck’s not on your side tonight!” Spencer teased.

“Huh?” Christopher looked around and noticed everyone had a coin except Barnaby. He burst out laughing. “Man, that’s some seriously bad luck. Looks like someone’s in for a rough year. Hannah, you better stay away from him-don’t let his bad luck rub off on you!”

Felicity felt a little embarrassed. She’d made sure to put one coin in for each person, just so everyone could have a lucky bite. So how did Barnaby end up being the only one without a coin?

Seeing there were still seven or eight dumplings left on the plate Aurelia urged, “There are still some left! Just keep eating, you’ll get one eventually!”

Barnaby rolled his eyes and muttered, “Superstition.” But he still reached for another dumpling anyway.

Hannah was speechless.

Everyone was stuffed, so they set their chopsticks aside and moved to the living room to hang out and chat. Barnaby was the only one left at the table, eating dumplings one by one, trying to keep his cool.

After five dumplings, he was already bursting, but he pushed through and ate the last three on the plate.

He felt like he was about to puke, but still-no coin.

Barnaby was speechless.

Meanwhile, in the living room…

Joel called Hannah over to the balcony, pulled out his phone, and whispered with a mischievous grin, “That old lady from the Reese family won’t dare mess with our grandma ever again. Want to see her scandalous photos?”

When she heard “scandalous photos,” Hannah instantly guessed what had happened to Catherine. “Nice, you’re quick,” she said.

“Hehe, if you say yes to being our Black Dragon boss, I’ll make things happen even faster!” Joel said, grinning cheekily. Hannah really wasn’t interested in Joel’s so-called Black Dragon crew down south. He made it sound fancy, asking her to be the boss, but honestly, he just wanted her to babysit his crew of troublemakers.

Too much drama and way too much trouble; she’d rather spend her time coding or experimenting with new meds

“If I can get you to do what I say, that’s good enough for me,” she replied, her tone flat.

“Of course you can! You’ve always been my boss, Hannah. Whatever you say goes-I wouldn’t dare do otherwise! If you marry me, my whole life is yours,” Joel said, grinning.

“Tsk, what would I even do with your life?” Hannah gave his shoulder a playful slap. “Just stick to being my number one minion.”

With that, she turned and went back to the dining room to help elicity with the dishes.

Joel watched her walk away and sighed. ‘Damn, Fairy Sis is just impossible to win over, he thought.

After Hannah finished helping Felicity clean up the kitchen, they came out to find Joel and the others had already left. Evelyn and Aurelia were in Chloe’s old room, with Evelyn directing Joe to change the sheets and pillowcases. Seeing this, Felicity quickly wiped her hands and hurried over to help.

Barnaby was leaning back on the couch, looking a bit uncomfortable, his attention drifting as the news about the Reese family played on TV.

Hannah sat down beside him and picked up her phone. She saw a message from Candy saying she’d got home and was

just about to reply when Barnaby took her hand and pressed it to his stomach.

“What are you doing?” Hannah gave him a sideways glance and quickly pulled her hand back.

‘The grown-ups could come back any minute now. What would they think if they saw us getting all cozy?’ she thought.

“Can you rub my belly?” Barnaby asked.

Hannah glanced at his stomach-he’d even loosened his belt by two notches. “Feeling sick?” she asked.

Barnaby nodded. “Yeah, I stuffed myself.”

Hannah was speechless.

‘Did he really eat all the dumplings by himself?’ she wondered.

“Are you sure your grandma really put ten coins in the dumplings?” Barnaby suddenly asked.

“Yeah, why?” Hannah looked at him, confused.

She’d picked out the coins herself and even boiled them to make sure they were safe to eat.

Barnaby was speechless.

Barnaby: “Are there any dumplings left in the pot?”

“Nope, all of them are on the table now. You still want more?” Hannah asked, surprised. ‘Isn’t he about to burst already?’ she thought.

“Nope,” Barnaby shot back right away.

‘I don’t ever want to see another dumpling for the rest of the year!’ he thought.

“Wait…” Hannah suddenly caught on to what he was really asking.

‘Did he seriously stuff himself with all those dumplings just because he missed out on a coin?

‘Was he just hoping to snag that last lucky one?

‘Didn’t he say he didn’t buy into all that superstition?

‘Why’s he acting even more petty than Lucian right now?’ she thought.

“So, you wanted to get a coin too, didn’t you?” Hannah teased, raising an eyebrow at him.

“It’s just some silly superstition. Like I care,” Barnaby replied with a dismissive look, trying to play it cool.

“Tsk, then why’d you eat yourself sick, huh?” Hannah said, pressing her slender hand against his stomach and giving it a playful push.

Barnaby, feeling queasy from her playful attack, quickly grabbed her mischievous hand. “I just didn’t want to waste any food, okay?”

Hannah couldn’t help but laugh-who knew Barnaby could be such a tsundere? She got up and headed to the kitchen. There were still some dumpling wrappers and filling left in the fridge, so she grabbed a coin, gave it a quick boil, tucked it into the meat, and made a fresh dumpling just for him.

After a bit of tinkering in the kitchen, she called Barnaby into the dining room, sat him down, and placed the plate right in front of him like it was some kind of ceremony.

“Here’s your prize for not acting all jealous and dramatic today,” she teased, flashing him a playful grin.

On the white ceramic plate, two adorable little cherry tomato burnies were guarding a plump, snowy dumpling in the middle.

Honestly, it was almost too cute to eat.

Barnaby felt his heart turn to mush-she was just too sweet. He reached out, pulled her in by the back of her head, and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.

He was still way too full to eat another bite, but ‘No doubt about it, she definitely put a coin in this one,’ he thought, eyeing the dumpling.

He pulled out his phone, snapped a photo, then hopped onto WhatsApp and made a new group chat, adding Christopher, Spencer, and Joel.

Joel: [???]

Joel: [What’s this group for?]

Christopher: [Barnaby made a group chat? What’s going on?]

Spencer: [Watching from the shadows.jpg]

Barnaby: [Photo]

Christopher: Huh?

Barnaby: Hannah made it.

Joel left the group chat.

Christopher left the group chat.

Spencer left the group chat.

Barnaby watched as the group chat kept shrinking, a smug little smile tugging at his lips. Just as he was feeling pretty pleased with himself, he heard Evelyn call out from the living room, “Hannah, go take care of your own stuff. Felicity and Aurelia are staying here tonight, so you don’t need to worry about me.”

“I’m not busy at all! Can I sleep with you tonight, Grandma? It’s been forever since we shared a bed,” Hannah said, wrapping her arms around Evelyn and putting on her cutest voice. Then she turned to Felicity, “Mom, you can have my room tonight- I’m bunking with Grandma.”

Ever since Hannah turned seven, she rarely cuddled up to her grandma anymore. After they settled in the mountains, they started sleeping in separate rooms.

But the moment Hannah started acting all sweet and spoiled, Evelyn’s heart just melted. “Of course, of course!” she replied, her voice soft and full of affection.

Barnaby, left to sleep by himself tonight, watched his grin disappear in a flash.
