Chapter 97
Chapter 97
“What’s it to you?”
52 voucher?
Owen sat in class, those icy words kept replaying in his head all morning. He just couldn’t pay attention to the lesson at all. Why can’t I get that out of my mind?’ he thought, frustrated.
As soon as the bell rang, he grabbed his stuff and rushed out, determined to find Hannah.
“Owen, let’s grab a bite. I need to talk to you,” Jasper called out, stopping him.
“What is it?” Owen replied, his tone flat.
Jasper felt a pang of discomfort at Owen’s cold attitude, and his resentment toward Hannah only grew.
‘If it weren’t for that country bumpkin, things between me and Owen wouldn’t be this bad, Jasper thought bitterly.
“I’ve booked a private room at Deaxen Hotel. Let’s talk over lunch,” Jasper said.
There were too many people around, so he couldn’t speak ill of Hannah in public.
“We’re not friends anymore. There’s nothing left to talk about. I’ve got stuff to take care of,” Owen said, turning away and walking off.
Jasper watched his back, fists clenched tight.
After school, Hannah was doing her classroom duty when she got a call from the delivery guy, asking her to pick up a package at the school mailroom.
She opened her phone, switched accounts, and happened to see a WhatsApp message.
Piggy: [Boss, all the herbs you wanted have been shipped, except for the century-old wild ginseng. They’re pretty heavy, so you’d better bring someone along when you pick them up.]
Piggy: [There are only two ginsengs over a hundred years old on the market. One is 218 years, totally out of reach. The other, a 198-year-old, is in the hands of the Scepter House, and they’re not letting it go either.]
Piggy: [I’ll keep someone on the lookout.]
Raven: [Thanks. No need to keep looking for the ginseng.]
Raven: [I’ll pay you back later. I’m kinda broke right now, can you start taking orders for me again?]
Piggy: [Broke?! Boss, didn’t you just squeeze three hundred million dollars out of the Baker family not long ago?]
Raven: [Spent it all.]
Piggy: [Damn, that’s some next-level extravagance! You’re unreal!]
Piggy: [Got a few people who want to hire you for a job. I’ll vet them and send you the info later.]
Hannah sent back a quick “Got it,” then switched over to her rarely-used account: The Nameless Healer.
Her inbox still had, as the second message, that system notification from when she’d added the Master of the Scepter House.
She suddenly remembered the second of the three conditions she’d agreed to: keep in touch at all times.
She tapped her phone and sent a message first.

Chapter 97
The Nameless Healer Hey, got a minute? I’ve got my eye on that century-old ginseng in your Scepter House collection Any chance you’d sell it?
After sending the message. Hannah wasn’t expecting a quick reply. She was about to head to the mailroom for her package when, to her surprise, the Master replied almost instantly.
The Scepter House’s Master: [Nothing in the Scepter House’s collection is for sale J
The Scepter House’s Master: [Unless…]
Hannah stared at her phone, waiting for the rest, but the message just sat there, no follow-up.
The Nameless Healer: [Unless what?]
But the silence dragged on.
She put her phone away, let Zoe know she was leaving, and headed to the mailroom by herself.
Jasper was just coming out of the mailroom with his package when he saw Hannah coming his way in the hallway.
Jasper’s face clouded over, suspicion flashing in his eyes. ‘Is she tailing me or something?’ he wondered.
He stepped right in front of her, cutting her off. “What do you want now?”
Hannah just glanced at him, clearly annoyed. “Why are you everywhere I go?”
“Ha, stalking me, huh? Why even ask?” Jasper scoffed. “You think buddying up with Owen and cutting me off, then playing hard to get, is gonna make me pay attention to you?”
“Narcissism is an actual illness. Maybe get yourself checked out at the psych ward. Now get lost,” Hannah said coldly.
“You!” Jasper snapped, his face flushing with anger.
‘She actually called me a nutcase!’ he fumed.
Jasper refused to budge, gritting his teeth. “Let me tell you, I’ve got witnesses for every shady thing you’ve ever done. Just wait, I’m going to expose your real face to Owen, one by one…”
“Shut up!” Hannah snapped, fed up. With a flick of her right hand, a silver needle appeared between her fingers and she stabbed it right into Jasper’s mute acupoint.
She moved so fast that Jasper barely registered it, his mouth hung open, but not a single sound came out.
Eyes wide, he desperately rubbed his throat, but it was useless. He couldn’t make a sound no matter what.
He grabbed Hannah, silently screaming at her, his lips forming the words: “What the hell did you do to me?!”
“Keep running your mouth and I’ll make sure you never speak again!” Hannah said, clearly fed up.
Jasper’s eyes widened in shock.
‘Country bumpkin! What kind of witchcraft is this? How the hell did she make me mute?’ he freaked out inside.
‘Undo this, now! Damn it!’ he screamed in his head, but no sound came out.
He grabbed Hannah’s shoulders, his lips moving in a furious, soundless roar.

Chapter 97
“Jasper! What the hell are you doing to Hannah?” Owen suddenly showed up in the hallway, his voice sharp.
He stormed over, practically shoved Jasper out of the way, and shot Hannah a worried look. “Did he hurt you? Are you alright?”
Jasper never expected Owen to show up right then. Great, now Owen’s totally going to get the wrong idea! he panicked.
Owen was already completely under Hannah’s spell, and if she started twisting the truth, Owen would just end up hating him even more.
That’d make it even harder to patch things up, and his shot at that recommendation would go up in smoke.
Jasper tried to explain, but no sound came out.
“It’s fine. He said he’d help me pick up my package,” Hannah said calmly.
Jasper, who was fuming, stared at Hannah in disbelief. ‘Did she just cover for me? I did not see that coming, totally caught off guard.’
‘See, she does like me!’ he thought, feeling smug for a second.
“Really?” Owen frowned, not buying it. He’d just seen Jasper looking like he was about to get physical with Hannah.
Why is Hannah suddenly sticking up for him?’ Owen wondered, confused.
He shot Jasper a look, and Jasper, clearly relieved, nodded quickly.
Owen’s eyes flashed with annoyance. “I can help you carry it, if you want.”
“Then just keep an eye on him for me,” Hannah said.
Jasper started to get the feeling something was up.
Owen was still trying to figure out what Hannah meant when she claimed her package at the mailroom.
“Move this to the fourth floor of the Chemistry Laboratory Building,” Hannah ordered, giving the massive box a nudge with her foot. It didn’t move an inch.
Owen instantly caught on and looked at Jasper. “Go on, pick it up.”
Jasper was speechless.
‘Damn, she totally set me up!’ he thought, feeling totally screwed.
In the end, with Owen watching his every move, Jasper hauled that massive, forty or fifty-pound box all the way from the mailroom on the second floor of the Admin Building to the fourth floor of the Chemistry Laboratory Building.
He was the heir of the Baker family, he’d never done this kind of grunt work in his life.
By the time he finally made it to the lab door, Jasper was so fed up that he dropped the box hard onto the floor, only to end up crushing his own finger by accident.
Great, now it was actually broken!
‘No way! Those are my piano-playing fingers!’ he screamed inside, freaking out.
After finishing up her classroom duty, Hannah made her way back to the fourth floor of the Chemistry Laboratory Building.

The package was just dumped outside the lab door, not a soul in sight.
She opened the door, hauled the box inside, and tore it open. The whole thing was packed to the brim with rare herbs, each one sealed up like it was some kind of treasure.
She cranked up the heater, shrugged off her coat, and spent the next half hour peeling away layer after layer until she finally got all the herbs out.
Just then, her phone lit up with a message. It was finally a reply from the Scepter House’s Master.
The Scepter House’s Master: [Unless you become my wife.]
Hannah was totally stunned.
