Chapter 117 Can We Start Over?
“Mr. Mercer, don’t worry. I’ll keep this to myself. I won’t say a word to Mrs. Mercer.”
Her tone was distant, polite, but unmistakably cold.
Chase tried to explain, but seeing her like this, the words caught in his throat.
“Mr. Mercer, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going.”

As Nina turned to leave, Chase, emboldened by the alcohol, pulled her into his arms. “Nina, you’re the one I love. I regret everything. Can we start over?”
He had thought about it countless times–if he could go back, if he had married Nina instead, would things have turned out differently?
For five years, he hadn’t stopped regretting it.
Regretting not marrying her sooner. Regretting giving her up for Katrina.
In his arms, Nina felt nothing but disgust. Still, she didn’t push him away right away. Her voice was cool. “Chase, you’re drunk.”
He held her tighter. “Nina, I know I was wrong before. I regret it so much… If I had another chance, I’d get engaged to you. I’d spend my life loving only you.”
Listening to him made her feel sick.
But it didn’t matter.
She had already gotten what she came for.
The next second, Katrina yanked Chase away and slapped him hard. “Chase, you bastard!”
The blow snapped him halfway sober. When he came to, he realized Katrina had appeared behind him at some point–and she’d heard every word he’d just said to Nina.
“Katrina… you… How did you-”
He clearly hadn’t expected her to show up.
Nina spoke up calmly, as if she were just a bystander. “Mrs. Mercer asked me to meet for coffee today. I didn’t have time, so we decided to meet here tonight. I didn’t expect to run into Mr. Mercer.”

Anyone could see Chase had been the one to pull her into that embrace. Even if Katrina wanted to take it out on Nina, she had no grounds.
People passing through the hallway had already started to watch. Chase felt his face burn.
“Whatever this is, we’ll talk at home. Why make a scene here?”
“Home? Do you still remember that you have one? Say what you just said again if you’ve got the guts!”
Katrina pounded on his chest, hysterical.
Nina watched the spectacle for a moment, then said lightly, “Since Mrs. Mercer has family matters to deal with, I won’t intrude. Take your time.”
With that, she turned and headed out of The Onyx Club. Chase instinctively moved to follow, but Katrina grabbed his arm. “Chase! You’re not going anywhere until you explain yourself!”
She had no intention of letting him leave. Chase glanced between Katrina and Nina’s retreating figure, frustration boiling over. He shook Katrina off and pointed at her coldly. “Go home. Now. And stop bothering me here.”
His shout stunned Katrina.
He was the one who’d done wrong–so why was she the one being told to leave?
She tried to cling to him again, but Chase had already signaled the club’s security. As a high- level member of The Onyx Club, he didn’t have to wait long. Katrina was quickly dragged out as a troublemaker.
Outside, Nina had already gotten into Caleb’s car.
