Seeing that gentle smile on Cassia’s face, Kaleb’s heart skipped a beat.
Only one thought came to his mind–she looked so stunning.

Too bad Cassia had a bad temper. No matter how pretty she was, it didn’t make up for it.
The nurse glanced at the flowers in Bric’s hand and asked, pretending not to know, “Are those for Ms. Wood?”
“She’s just pretending to be sick, right?” Brie asked uncertainly.
The nurse rolled her eyes and pulled out the chart.
“Who would pretend to be sick and actually show up at a hospital?”
Brie looked at the medical chart and all the test results and immediately realized there was no way to fake that. Plus, Cassia never took allowance from home, so she didn’t have the money to bribe a doctor even if she wanted to.
She’s actually sick?
But then again, maybe she faked it. Cassia is capable of anything.
Hearing the truth, the bystanders started to feel guilty.
The nurse came right up to Brie.
“Give me the flowers. I’ll put them in Ms. Wood’s room.”
Brie took a step back, smiling awkwardly but clearly caught off guard.
She’d actually brought the flowers for one of Kaleb’s relatives, hoping to make a good impression.
“Aren’t those flowers for Ms. Wood?” The nurse kept up her act, acting clueless.
“Ah… no, these are for a friend.” Brie’s smile turned embarrassed.
“Huh?” The nurse tilted her head.
“Isn’t Ms. Wood your sister? You came to the hospital to visit a friend but not your own sister? What kind of sister are you…” The nurse said pointedly.

Brie noticed people around her starting to give her strange looks. She was so embarrassed that she wanted to crawl into a hole.
“I didn’t know Cassia was sick. I’ll go buy some flowers for her later.”
“But you’re here now. Shouldn’t you give these to your sister first? There’s a flower shop across the street. You can always go back and buy another for your friend!” The nurse mimicked Brie’s earlier tone, deliberately speaking up..
People nearby started piecing things together. They noticed how Brie didn’t seem to care much about her own sister and that she’d spoken way too loudly in a hospital.
Anyone with half a brain could tell what was really going on.
Brie saw her image about to crumble, so she pulled out her secret weapon.
She let her eyes fill with tears, looking like she was about to cry. With tears glistening in her eyes, she managed to make herself look truly pitiful.
“Cassia, I’m sorry. I really didn’t know you were actually sick. I didn’t know you were in the hospital. Please forgive me, okay?” She thrust the flowers forward, looking ready to burst into
tears.
She knew Cassia well–Cassia would never accept her flowers and would probably throw them away right in front of her.
Then she could put on a show, sobbing and looking completely heartbroken.
Heh…
Cassia narrowed her eyes, shooting Brie a cold, assessing look.
Then, she said to the nurse, “Could you take these for me?”
“Of course.”
The nurse happily took the flowers from Brie’s hand.
Brie froze, hand still outstretched.
She actually took them?
She figured Cassia would just toss them on the floor anyway.
And she figured when Cassia did, she’d…

“Nurse, could you put the flowers in my room?” Cassia said with a small smile.
“Absolutely!” the nurse replied, then looked at the fruit basket in Kaleb’s hand.
“You can give that to me, too.”
Kaleb’s face twitched.

“Don’t worry, sir. I may be petite, but I can carry a fruit basket just fine,” the nurse joked, grabbing it from him.
If Kaleb kept holding on, he’d look totally pathetic.
So the nurse walked off, arms full of flowers and fruit, cheerfully heading for the inpatient building.
Brie and Kaleb were left behind, being quietly judged by everyone around.
Seven, watching from nearby, couldn’t help but marvel, This nurse really is something else–no wonder Mr. Grey personally assigned her to take care of Ms. Wood!
Ms. Wood is impressive, too.
Night had fallen, and Cassia was still sitting outside, looking up at the deep, dark sky.
