Chapter 150 I’m Not Scared Anymore
Draven glanced at Cassia.
For once, Cassia’s face–always calm and reserved–was full of barely hidden anxiety.
He furrowed his brows together.
Just then, his phone on the seat next to him started to vibrate.
The caller ID said it was Seven.
Draven answered, “Did you find him?”
Cassia fixed her gaze on Draven and the phone in his hand, watching his every move.
After hanging up, Draven turned to her. “There’s news about him.”
How does Draven even know about Sterling from the orphanage?
But there was no time to worry about that now. Cassia pressed anxiously, “Is he okay?”

“When they found him, he was a little unstable, but he should be fine.” Draven narrowed his eyes, watching every change in Cassia’s expression.
She was tense at first, but after hearing Sterling was safe, her whole face finally relaxed.
She looked away, and in her dark eyes, an unreadable glint flashed by.
A few minutes later, the car pulled up by a stretch of road near a line of bushes.
Draven got out and pointed. “They found him here.”
He held out his phone for Cassia to see.
The video footage had just been sent over by Seven.
Cassia took the phone.
In the video, Sterling was huddled alone and scared by the bushes, shaking with fear.
As Cassia watched, she thought, Sterling actually made it all the way from the orphanage in the countryside to downtown on his own…

He probably came to find me.
Cassia kept watching.

In the video, a gaudily dressed woman appeared, trying to lead Sterling away, but he pushed
her off.
The last thing in the video was Sterling running away in panic, and Cassia clearly saw the scratches on his face.
Her hand clenched tight at her side, her delicate face turning cold and stern.
After handing the phone back to Draven, Cassia quickly started walking in the direction Sterling had run.
Draven followed, searching along with her.
He never asked why Cassia seemed to care so much more about Sterling than his real family. He just figured it was because of the deep friendship they’d formed at the orphanage.
About ten minutes later, Cassia reached the entrance of a dimly lit park, paused a second, then headed inside.
“You think he’s in here?” Draven asked.
“He doesn’t like crowded places,” Cassia guessed.
There was hardly anyone around, and the park was mostly dark.
She remembered Sterling’s room–the curtains were always drawn, with only the bedside lamp on.
Cassia scanned the park, finally stopping at the slide on the playground.
Suddenly, an old memory surfaced.
Back when Cassia lived at the orphanage, there was a time when Sterling ran away and hid because he got upset. Peter, the caretakers, and the other kids all went looking for him. In the end, Cassia had been the one to find him hiding under a slide at a quiet park.
Ever since then, whenever Sterling felt threatened or upset, he would always crawl under a slide to hide.
That was Sterling’s secret. Only Cassia knew.

Thinking of this, Cassia headed straight for the slide.
The sand crunched under her feet as she crossed the sandbox.
A small, trembling whimper came from under the slide.
He really is here.
Cassia slowed her steps and stopped in front of the slide.
The trembling noises continued.
She knocked on the slide twice, and the sound stopped at once.
After a brief pause, Sterling peeked out and looked up.
The moment he saw it was Cassia, his eyes filled with tears.
