The car wasn’t flashy or eye–catching, but as the tinted window slowly rolled down, the man sitting in the driver’s seat captured everyone’s attention.
A chiseled jawline, thick lashes that fanned like feathers, eyes as deep as the ocean, thin lips pressed together in a slight line.
And his hands, casually resting on the steering wheel, were long and elegant with well–defined knuckles, as perfect as a Greek sculpture.
How could a man this breathtakingly handsome even exist?
When the man turned his head, everyone collectively held their breath.
Everyone except Cassia, and yet that devastatingly handsome face was turned directly toward her.
Brie stared at Draven with burning intensity, subconsciously pulling her hand out of Kaleb’s coat pocket.
Draven said gently, “Get in.”
Even his voice was intoxicating, like music from the heavens.
Brie turned her head and looked at Cassia in disbelief.
Had this man really just told Cassia to get in?
When Cassia heard Draven call her, she didn’t hesitate or overthink it. She simply opened the door and slid into the passenger seat.
“Put on your seatbelt.”
That mesmerizing voice sounded again, and Brie wished he would say more. She couldn’t get enough of it.
Everyone noticed that while Cassia moved, the man in the driver’s seat never took his eyes off her.
But once Cassia had buckled her seatbelt and settled in, he said nothing more and turned his gaze forward.
The car started, and Cassia’s body leaned toward Draven.

She looked past him through the window and said to Sacha and Rosalie, “I’m heading out.”
“Okay, bye, Cassia!” Sacha and Rosalie smiled and waved.
“Bye.”
As soon as Cassia finished speaking, Draven pressed the button, and the window slowly rose.
The car drove off into the night.
With Cassia gone, Sacha said goodbye to Rosalie as well.
“See you tomorrow, Rosalie!”
“See you!”
Sacha walked off into the distance.
After Cassia and Sacha left, the stunned Brie finally snapped out of it and hurriedly called out to Rosalie, who was about to leave.
Explaining things to Rosalie was more important right now.
“Rosalie, I really didn’t mean anything by what I said earlier. You misunderstood me. I…”
“Misunderstood what? I heard you loud and clear. Anyone with half a brain could tell you were taking shots at Cassia,” Rosalie said bluntly. “Also, I hope you’ll stop turning the other students against Cassia at school.”
“I haven’t…”
“Whether you admit it or not, I’m not going to argue with you, because Cassia can’t even be bothered to deal with you. Maybe… that’s exactly why you keep saying things that give people the wrong idea. Because you know she won’t bother to explain herself,” Rosalie said, cutting Brie off again.
Brie wanted to say something more to Rosalie, but Rosalie didn’t give her the chance. She turned and walked away.
Brie had always wanted to get close to Rosalie, but not only had she failed to win her over, she had made Rosalie dislike her instead.
It had to be Cassia badmouthing her to.Rosalie.

“Let’s go,” Kaleb said flatly.
It wasn’t his usual gentle tone.

Brie looked up at Kaleb and saw him walking ahead with a dark expression, lost in thought about something.
“Kal…”
She barely spoke before Kaleb walked ahead, ignoring her completely.
He was walking so fast that she struggled to keep up in her platform shoes.
Brie’s heart was a mess of emotions.
Could Kaleb be acting this way because of what Rosalie said?
“Kaleb, Cassia has always had a grudge against me. I think she must have said something to Rosalie to make her think I was targeting Cassia on purpose. I may be the adopted daughter of the Woods and not blood–related to Cassia, but I’ve always treated her like my real sister.”
Kaleb stopped walking. His hands stayed in his coat pockets, but he didn’t turn around to look at Brie.
“You’re overthinking it. I’m not holding anything Rosalie said against you.”
After saying that, he continued walking.
That was what Kaleb said, but his mind was elsewhere.
