Chapter 186 The Dinner Interrogation
Vance grew anxious. “Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?”
A teacher? So it wasn’t that wealthy young man from before?
Wasn’t Cassia already being kept by some rich guy? Had she already moved on to someone new?
“I’m not entirely sure if Cassia is actually dating him. I just saw her get into his car.”
“What’s his family background?” Vance was concerned now.

He had been searching for the young man who had kept Cassia all this time. If Cassia could marry that young man, it would be ideal.
But he had only met that young man once. No matter how hard he searched, the guy seemed to have vanished into thin air without a trace.
Now Cassia was dating a teacher.
If the man’s circumstances were too poor, there was no way he would approve.
“I don’t know.” Brie shook her head.
“But I did notice that his car was a Volkswagen worth at most 20,000.”
Driving a 20,000–dollar car? And he thought he could marry into the Woods?
“She better not be dating him!”
Vance decided he had to intervene.
That man better not have any romantic intentions toward Cassia. Otherwise, he would personally warn the guy not to even dream of marrying into the Woods.
The next day, Vance sternly demanded that all three Wood sisters come home for dinner tonight, no excuses.
Time flew by, and soon it was dinnertime.
The whole family gathered around the dining table, chatting and laughing over their meal.

Cassia ate her food quietly.
Vance kept glancing over at Cassia.

Cassia had long noticed his little movements and the strange looks he kept throwing her way. She couldn’t be bothered with what was going on in other people’s heads. The sooner she finished eating, the sooner she could get back to school.
“Cassia.” Vance set down his fork.
He hadn’t called on anyone else, but everyone at the table turned to look at Cassia when they heard his voice. Brie, in particular, looked like she was ready to watch the show.
Cassia only gave Vance an indifferent glance before continuing to eat.
Vance was used to Cassia’s “lack of manners,” but it still lit a fire of irritation in his chest.
“What’s going on between you and that teacher at your school?”
Cassia chewed on her food and replied vaguely, “No idea what you’re talking about.”
Still playing dumb?
Vance was so angry he wanted to slam the table, but remembering what Nicole and that young man had once said to him, he forced himself to swallow his rage.
Everyone at the table except Brie was confused by Vance’s sudden question.
“What do you mean, what’s going on?”
“Yeah, Dad, what are you talking about?” Danica clinked her utensils noisily against her plate and shot Vance a puzzled look.
Vance glared at Danica, and she immediately stopped making noise.
His gaze shifted back to Cassia. “Brie told me you’ve gotten close to one of the teachers at school?”
Close? At school, aside from her grades making the teachers smile, which teacher had ever gone out of their way to approach her?
The only one she could think of who might qualify as “close” was the highly respected Shane.
“I guess,” Cassia replied flatly.

Vance could barely contain his temper. Cassia had only been brought back to the Woods this year, but he had still raised her for a few months. He wasn’t asking for anything in return. He had already been lenient enough about her being kept by some man. But dating a boyfriend at school was a huge deal, and she hadn’t said a single word to him about it. Did she even see him as her father anymore?
No one else at the table dared to speak or touch their food. Cassia continued eating as if nothing was happening.
“Are you two officially together?”
Vance’s words made no sense, and Cassia couldn’t be bothered to entertain him.
“You’re overthinking it. No.”
Her voice was still cool and detached, completely devoid of warmth.
Vance set down his utensils and let out a long, heavy breath.
