The salesgirl glanced at Cassia–denim pants, a plain white shirt, nothing fancy at all. Honestly, people on the street looked more put together than her.
Who does this girl think she is, looking at luxury jewelry like that? She clearly has no idea what she’s doing.
Judging by her outfits, she’s probably still a student.
The salesgirl hesitated for a moment, then spoke politely,
Miss, this is our latest design. It’s a limited edition and made with real diamonds. The price is quite high. Most people can’t really afford it. Maybe you’d like to see something else–something more affordable?”
She kept talking, unable to stop herself.
Cassia hadn’t even decided if she wanted to buy it. She rarely liked anything enough to spend money on it. Today, she felt a sudden spark of interest. The salesgirl’s words made her change her mind. Now, she wanted to buy it even more.
Before Cassia could say anything, Danica jumped in. She had noticed what Cassia was looking at: a bracelet decorated with pink diamonds, no less. She was completely stunned.
Oh no! Did Cassia actually think the diamonds on the bracelet are fake? Maybe she thought it’s those cheap bracelets sold on the streets–three for ten bucks?
Danica nearly rolled her eyes. What a clueless bumpkin! How embarrassing!
Geneva had stepped outside because of her stomach problem.
Only the three of them in the store.
Danica suddenly felt nervous, worried the sales girl might assume they were all the same–uneducated and ignorant.
It’s Mom’s fault. Why did Mom bring Cassia along to embarrass us?
“Cassia,” Danica asked sarcastically, “you went to middle school, right? Then you should know how to read the price tag. Why don’t you count how many zeros are on it?”
How naive! Clearly, Cassia is inexperienced and has never seen much of the world.
“But I like this one,” Cassia said calmly, her expression natural.
Danica’s voice jumped an octave. “Wait–you don’t mean you want Mom to buy that diamond bracelet for you, do you?”
How shameless can she be? Isn’t she embarrassed of herself?
Then again, Danica told herself there was no way her mom would ever buy it. A piece that cost over a

hundred thousand dollars? Impossible.
Typical! She’s shallow and vain.
Cassia glanced at her and replied coolly, “Is there a problem?”

“You have no shame!” Danica burst out, her voice shaking with anger. “You? A country bumpkin like you thinks you deserve a bracelet that beautiful? Do you even know your worth? Besides, the family would never let you buy it!” Her words came out in a rush, sharp and bitter, her face flushed red from rage.
Cassia didn’t even bother arguing. She turned to the salesgirl with a polite smile. “I’ll take this.”
The salesgirl froze, her mouth falling open so wide she could’ve swallowed an egg.
“P–pardon? You’ll take this?” she stammered, her tone rising with disbelief. She suspected there was something wrong with her hearing.
Cassia nodded, serious and calm.
Danica nearly lost it. “Hey! Are you out of your mind? Do you even know how much that costs?”
Has she gone crazy? Did living out in the countryside fry her brain? Does she think money grows on trees?
Brie stood nearby, pretending to sound calm and reasonable, but her tone dripped with disdain. “Hmph, a country girl always thinks differently,” she muttered under her breath.
The salesgirl was still frozen in disbelief. Cassia looked like a regular high school student–young, quiet, and simple. Yet here she was, speaking as if buying a diamond bracelet worth a fortune was no big deal. It was something the salesgirl had never seen before.
Even the wealthy socialites of Zrario hesitated when they came to this boutique. They’d ask a dozen questions, compare every detail, and think long and hard before making a decision. After all, everything here costs a small fortune.
The salesgirl didn’t want to be played for a fool. She softened her tone–just a little. “Sweetheart, this isn’t an ordinary bracelet,” she said, forcing a smile. “You might’ve bought one for 100 bucks before, but this one costs a million.”
Her patience was running thin. What rotten luck to get stuck with a customer like her–someone who clearly wasn’t buying anything.
No way could this girl afford it.
The bracelet had caught many people’s eyes, but the moment they saw the price tag, they all walked away shaking their heads.
Another salesgirl came over, rolling her eyes. “Zoe, why are you still wasting time with them? The manager said Mrs. Gill and her daughter just arrived–they’re our VIPs. You should be helping them, not chatting with some random student.”
Zoe Vargas looked embarrassed. She didn’t mean to offend anyone and risk a complaint. She tried to keep

her tone calm. “Don’t say that,” she muttered awkwardly. “I’ll finish up with them soon. You go take care of Mrs. Gill.”
Her coworker just huffed. “Please. Some people really don’t know their place. No money, no class, and still dare to walk in here?”
Then she turned her attention directly to Cassia. “Listen, sweetheart,” she said condescendingly, her voice dripping with fake kindness. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. This is Seer’s boutique–not your average store. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but I’ll tell you this: most students can’t afford anything here. If you really want to shop, try the first floor. They’ve got affordable brands there, something that suits your level better.”
