Cassia thought today was worth the trip after all. At least now she’d seen everyone’s true colors. What kind of people had Nicole hired? How could someone like that even work for a luxury brand?
These girls were looking down on their customers.
She couldn’t help but speak up. “Sorry, but I can afford the bracelet. You don’t have to worry about it.”
Her voice was a little hoarse. Everyone heard it clearly and froze in surprise.
Danica and Brie both wanted to leave. They felt humiliated, even though this had nothing to do with them. But since they came in together, what would others think?
They were too proud to walk away.
“Hey, sweetheart,” the second sales girls said with a fake smile, acting like a big sister. “I’m just trying to help. You should probably save your pocket money for bubble tea instead.”
“Alright, stop it,” Zoe said quickly, tugging on her coworker’s arm. She was getting impatient, but at least she wasn’t that rude.
The girl looked young. Her coworker saying such things could really hurt her pride.
Zoe glanced at Cassia. The girl’s face was delicate and beautiful, her eyes clear, her whole presence cool and confident, but oddly magnetic. It was hard to look away.
The rude sales girl finally muttered something under her breath and/walked off.
Then Zoe turned back and froze. Right in front of her was a sleek black card. An obsidian credit card.
She was shocked. Before she could say a word, Cassia’s voice came again, soft but firm. “Here. Swipe it. I’ll take that bracelet.”
Zoe blinked in disbelief. Obsidian credit card? From Stiyria Bank?
There were only ten people in the entire world who owned one.
And this girl has one? No way. It has to be fake.
That was Zoe’s first thought.
But then she remembered: she’d seen one once before. And the card in Cassia’s hand was exactly the same.
Zoe wasn’t the only one that was astounded. Brie and Danica were frozen in place too. They had no idea what an obsidian card was. What stunned them was the fact that Cassia had a credit card at all.
Didn’t she grow up in an orphanage? Someone who barely had enough to eat? How could she possibly own a credit
card?

Then it hit Danica. Of course–her sugar daddy must’ve given it to her.
That man must be pretty generous, huh? Giving her a card she could spend freely.

Zoe was dumbfounded for a moment before carefully taking the card from Cassia. She turned it over, inspecting the front and back as if trying to tell whether it was real.
Cassia found the whole thing ridiculous, but she stayed calm, her face unreadable. She didn’t bother explaining. She didn’t owe anyone that.
Danica couldn’t hold her tongue any longer. “Cassia, is that card fake? Or did some guy give it to you?”
Brie found it skeptical too. “Yeah, Cassia, could it be a card sleeve?”
Zoe froze again. Could this card be fake? What if she tried to run it and embarrassed herself in front of everyone?
Zoe hesitated.
She’d worked at Seer long enough to meet plenty of wealthy clients, but she’d never seen anyone with an obsidian card. She’d only ever spotted one in a luxury magazine once.
So, who knew if this one was real?
Just then, the other salesgirl–who had mocked Cassia earlier–walked over and snatched the card from Zoe’s hands. “I’ll run it for you,” she said coolly.
She had watched everything that happened earlier. This girl was eager to prove Cassia was just a pretender. In her mind, this was the perfect chance to teach the girl a lesson about humility.
So young, yet already chasing after luxury. Such vanity.
Brie and Danica looked thrilled, like they were about to watch a live show. The crowd around them had grown. The sisters could barely contain their excitement. This was it. The moment they’d been waiting for.
Zoe wanted to speak up and stopped her coworker, but she held her tongue when she saw her determination.
The salesgirl let out a snort, then strutted off with a smug look on her face.
Danica and Brie felt embarrassed, but they still wore gloating smiles. To them, this was turning into quite a show. They were just waiting for Cassia to make a fool of herself.
The salesgirl had never seen the legendary obsidian card before. She assumed it was just a regular bank card. Humming to herself, she marched to the register and slid it through the machine.
Beep! The payment went through.
The salesgirl froze. She thought the card reader must’ve glitched, so she checked the screen again, frowning. “No error. It went through,” she muttered to herself.
