Chapter 262 No Means No
“Then what about tomorrow at noon?” Byron asked, taking a step back.
Cassia glanced at the corner he was blocking and felt annoyed.
She was also hungry, which made her mood worse. So, her tone turned sharp.
“You’re annoying. You’re in the way.”
The embarrassing words caught Byron completely off guard.
In the past, girls were always chasing after him. He had never lacked attention.

But Cassia was the first girl who truly made his heart move. The first one he actually wanted to pursue.
The girls watching nearby were wildly jealous.
He was the school heartthrob. The best–looking guy on campus. When they had nothing to do, they would go together to places he might show up. Just hoping for a “chance” meeting. Sometimes they even tried to secretly take photos.
And now? The heartthrob had personally come to ask Cassia out to eat. Only to be coldly rejected by her.
Of course that upset them.
“So what if she’s pretty?”
“Yeah, just because she got first place at the City Finals, she thinks she can do whatever she wants? I heard from Danica that her piano performance at the winter party was fake.”
“Whether it was fake or not is still unclear.”
“Look at how cold she acts, like she’s the most beautiful person in the world.”
The girls stared at Cassia’s calm, striking face,
And unwillingly, they had to admit it. She really might be the most beautiful person they had
ever seen.
Brie’s eyes had turned red the moment Byron appeared.

Since a long time ago, she had known that Byro had a crush on her. But because of Kaleb, he had always kept those feelings hidden.
She had once struggled between choosing Kaleb or Byron. In the end, Kaleb’s family could help the Woods more in business.
Another reason was that Byron’s family came from generations of scholars. Too many rules. Too much formality. Marrying into that family would feel suffocating. So in the end, Brie chose Kaleb.
That alone would have been fine, but now Byron was openly chasing Cassia. Worse, Brie noticed that over the past few days, Kaleb had been spacing out, often looking toward Cassia.
Danica noticed it too. She looked annoyed and made a sarcastic remark, “That country girl actually has someone chasing her? Gosh, are those people blind?”
Brie bit her lip; her expression softened into something gentle and fragile as she slowly walked toward Cassia.
“Cassia, we haven’t eaten at school together in a long time. How about having dinner together tonight?”
Again?
Cassia frowned and turned to look at Brie. “When have we ever eaten together at school?”
Brie had always known this about Cassia. She spoke straight to the point. No mercy at all.
Brie paused, then lowered her head, looking hurt.
Danica couldn’t stand seeing Cassia “bully” Brie. She rushed forward and shouted, “Cassia! That’s too much! Brie kindly invited you to eat with her, and you say something so hurtful!”
Cassia didn’t even lift her eyes; she gave Danica brief glance.
“I don’t like you. So, why should I force myself to go with you? Don’t you think that would be fake?”
The words landed hard. Pure dominance.
The students felt that Cassia was a little too cold toward Brie and Danica. Still, what she said sounded bold and honest. If she didn’t feel like going, then she didn’t go.
Simple, real, and no pretending.
After speaking, Cassia walked straight past Byron without even looking at him and headed toward the office building.

“Cassia, wait for me!” Byron chased after her.
“Cassia, can I add you on WhatsApp? It’ll be easier to stay in touch.”
“I don’t have it.”
“Then, messenger is fine.”
“I don’t have that either.”
“Your phone number?”
Silence.
“Cassia…”

Byron followed her all the way to the bottom of the office building, still not realizing that Cassia hadn’t been heading to the cafeteria at all
Seven saw what was happening downstairs and turned his head to look at Draven’s face.
Draven’s thin lips were pressed together. His misty brows looked calm and cold, giving nothing away.
“Mr. Grey,” Seven asked, “do you smell something?”
Draven gave him a brief glance and continued looking downstairs.
His eyes were filled with nothing but the girl below.
“Ms. Wood is so cool,” Seven sighed. “If she were a little more down–to–earth, that Brie wouldn’t stand a chance. The guys chasing Ms. Wood would probably fill an entire train.”
