Chapter 294 Take Me There
Draven glanced at Seven again.
“What is it now?”
“Oh no!” Seven said, hurrying toward the elevator. “Sterling is home alone!”
When Seven said that, Draven finally remembered that Sterling was alone in the condominium at Dunstino Bay.

Cassia lived right upstairs, so Sterling had been brave enough to sleep in his room by himself.
But now, with Cassia not coming back tonight, leaving Sterling alone could be risky.
When Seven drove back to Dunstino Bay, Sterling was standing by the window, staring out.
It’s already past midnight, and Cassia still isn’t back yet…
Cassia always came to his room at night to chat and say “Goodnight” so he could sleep in
peace.
She’d told him that afternoon she would be home late.
But now it was already past midnight.
Sterling grew more anxious the longer he waited until he finally started pacing back and forth in his room.
Ding–dong.
The doorbell rang.
Sterling rushed to open the door, thinking that it was Cassia, she must have forgotten her key.
When he opened the door and saw Seven standing outside, and his face fell in disappointment.
“That much of a difference, huh?” Seven said as he slipped on slippers and walked inside.
Seeing it wasn’t Cassia, Sterling turned and started heading back to his room.
“I came to tell you that Ms. Wood isn’t coming back tonight,” Seven said.

Sterling froze mid–step.
He stood silent for a few seconds before slowly turning around.

This was the first time Sterling looked at Seven directly, his eyes full of worry. He opened his mouth just a bit.
“Mm…”
“Don’t worry, she just … she just had something she had to do,” Seven explained. He felt a little guilty about lying to Sterling, but he soon told himself it was a harmless lie and felt better.
Sterling pulled out his phone.
“Don’t call!” Seven quickly stepped forward.
Sterling watched Seven suddenly rush toward him and instinctively backed away, bumping into a trash can and pressing himself up against the wall.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” Seven said, raising both hands in surrender.
Sterling saw how ridiculous Seven looked and started to calm down.
“Uh, well, don’t call Ms. Wood. Even if you call, she might not pick up.”
Seven remembered Draven had powered off Cassia’s phone before leaving the hospital room, so she could rest undisturbed.
The more Seven tried to explain, the more anxious Sterling became.
“She’s fine, she just…”
Seven wondered if he should tell Sterling about Cassia’s injury.
If he didn’t, Sterling would only imagine worse.
After all, Sterling was autistic, not stupid. If he kept hiding things, Sterling would get even more anxious.
But if he told him the truth…
Just as Seven was torn, Sterling came over with glass of water and held it out to him.
Seven blinked at the cup in front of him, then looked up at Sterling.
Is Sterling trying to please me? Is he trying to bribe me into telling him the truth?

“Mm…”
Sterling offered the cup again, a little closer to Seven’s hands.
Seven looked down at Sterling, who was suddenly being so sweet to him, and found it almost
strange.
He took the cup, sat on the couch, took two sips and noticed Sterling’s big, eager eyes watching him. He cleared his throat.
“Ahem… my shoulder’s a little sore.”
Seven started to rub his own shoulder, but then heard something behind him and turned around.
To his surprise, Sterling was quietly standing behind him, his little fists gently tapping his shoulder in rhythm.
His eyes were red, and he was nearly in tears.
