Chapter 338 Boom!
“Talk to Vance about it,” Cassia said.
She leaned back against the seat.
“Take me home. Dunstino Bay.”

“The painting…?” Hugo asked.
“You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll have Jake look into it.” With that, she took out her phone and sent Jake a message.
Evening, Dunstino Bay.
Grrrr–grrr—
His stomach growled loudly. Sterling rolled out of bed and glanced at the clock.
7:00 p.m.
He had meant to take a nap, but clearly he’d overslept. No wonder his stomach was screaming at him.
Ever since Cassia saw that Seven got along well with him, she had left him in Seven’s care. She only came around when it was time for his hypnosis sessions.
That little troublemaker, Seven, had actually smiled cheerfully when Cassia asked him to look after Sterling and agreed without hesitation.
Grrrr–grrrr-
His stomach growled again. Sterling rubbed it.
Why hadn’t Seven woken him up for dinner? He was starving…
Sterling crept to the door and pressed his ear against it.
“Zzzz–snore, snore, snore-” The snoring was loud enough to rattle the floor.
Sterling was dumbfounded.
He pushed the door open and immediately saw Seven sprawled across the couch, arms and legs all over the place, snoring loudly.
And this guy was supposed to be taking care of him in Cassia’s place? Taking care of him, huh…
First, a bathroom break.
After finishing, Sterling returned to the living room. He shot a helpless glance at the still–sleeping Seven 3

then opened the fridge.
There was milk–fine, but milk alone wouldn’t fill him up.
He dug a little longer and found two eggs.
Raw eggs… how was he supposed to cook these?
Then he spotted the microwave.
If milk could be heated in it, eggs could probably cook too.
He put the milk and raw eggs in the microwave and turned it to high.
A few moments later-
BOOM!
“What the–ahhhh! What just happened?!”
The loud explosion jolted Seven awake. He tumbled off the couch in a panic.

When thick smoke started pouring from the kitchen, Sterling didn’t even think about how hard he had fallen. He scrambled to his feet and ran toward the kitchen.
“Cough! Ugh–what the heck?!”
Seven was coughing violently from the smoke. He switched on the light and finally noticed Sterling sitting on the floor, holding his head.
“Hey! You–hey!” Seven didn’t even finish his sentence. He rushed to the window, opened it wide, and then came back to Sterling.
“Are you okay, kid?” Seven asked nervously.
Sterling hugged his head, trembling all over.
Seven glanced at the microwave. Black smoke was still curling from it.
Then he saw the eggshells inside and immediately guessed what had happened.
“You put raw eggs in the microwave?”
“Y–yeah…” Sterling whispered, still hugging his head.
Seven was speechless.
This kid… how had he survived before when Ms. Wood wasn’t around?
Now Seven finally understood why Cassia had begged him to watch over Sterling.

“You… really are something.” Seven said. “You didn’t know raw eggs would explode in the microwave?
“Ugh… Sterling whimpered.
It wasn’t just the explosion that scared him. It was that he had made a mistake.
At the Zimmer Residence and at the orphanage, mistakes were the worst thing he could make. One wrong move, and he’d get yelled at, spanked, locked in a dark room, or go hungry.
Once, a kid accidentally broke a new vase at the orphanage. The punishment fell on him–Peter thought it was Sterling. He was locked up for two days with no food.
Later, Cassia found proof it wasn’t him and showed it to Peter, and he finally got some fresh air.
While all that ran through his mind, Seven’s calm, gentle voice came from above.
“It’s okay. My bad too–sleeping this late, I didn’t even notice dinner.”
Sterling looked up at Seven.
