Tyne jumped when the door suddenly got kicked open. Her hand shook, and the cup she was holding slipped and shattered on the floor.
When she saw it was Cassia and the others, she panicked completely.
She couldn’t believe they had found her hiding spot so fast–she figured the cops must be right behind them.
She grabbed a sharp piece of the broken cup and held it against Danica’s face, pulling her backward.
“Stay back! I’m warning you!!! Take one more step, and I’ll ruin her face!”
The sharp glass poked into Danica’s skin. It hurt, but she used her one good eye to look toward the door.
Everything was a mess, yet she could still see clearly.
Mom… Byron…
Huh? Where’s Dad? Where’s Brie?
Did Dad and Brie not come to save me?
She blinked again, her vision blurry, and saw Cassia walking toward her.
Cassia?
She squinted to make sure.
It really was Cassia!
Cassia, that country bumpkin… actually came to save me?
Danica didn’t know why, but seeing Cassia coming to save her suddenly didn’t feel annoying at all. For the first time, she didn’t hate the country bumpkin.
Looking at Cassia, she reached out her hand and cried out for real, “Cassia… Save me!”
Cassia’s eyes narrowed when she heard Danica call her.
She sped up and lunged at Tyne. Just as Tyne was about to slice Danica’s face, Cassia grabbed

“Ah!” Tyne cried out in pain, and the shard fell from her hand.

Cassia kept one hand locked on Tyne’s wrist and used the other to grab her by the throat.
Instantly, Tyne’s face turned red as she struggled to breathe. She let go of Danica and started clawing, scratching, and hitting Cassia’s hand, trying to break free.
Cassia didn’t loosen her grip.
Geneva reacted fast. She ran over and dragged Danica away from Tyne.
Byron finally snapped out of it and hurried to help Geneva, pulling Danica to a safe spot.
Once Cassia saw that Danica was safe, she released Tyne’s wrist. Then she tightened her grip on Tyne’s neck and threw her to the side.
“Ugh!”
Tyne was thrown like a piece of trash. She hit the floor hard, clutching her throat and coughing uncontrollably.
“Cough, cough, cough…”
Cassia looked down at her coldly from above.
“Get out. Don’t let me see you again.”
Tyne’s face was a bruised purple color from the lack of air. She glared at Cassia with hatred.
It only made her look more twisted and awful.
“What? You want to try my fist next?”
Cassia raised her arms and cracked her knuckles, looking ready for a fight.
Tyne was taken aback.
Her entire body trembled. She didn’t dare try anything else. She scrambled to her feet and ran out of the room as fast as she could.
At the doorway, she turned and glared at Cassia’s back one last time.
I’m going to make the Wood sisters pay for this! Just you wait. If I don’t ruin their lives, my name isn’t

Fuming, she saw Cassia shift slightly. Tyne’s breath hitched, then she spun around and ran away with her tail between her legs.
Geneva hurried over and untied the ropes on Danica’s hands and feet.
“Danica… My sweet Danica…”
Looking at her daughter’s swollen, red face, Geneva felt like her heart was breaking into a million pieces.
Danica’s face wasn’t completely ruined, but if they didn’t treat it soon, it would leave scars.
“Danica, I’m taking you to the hospital right now,” Geneva said, reaching for her.
“Mm–go away! Go away! Don’t touch me!”
Suddenly, Danica lost it. She scrambled backward, shielding her chest until she hit the co of the room.
