Gary winced in pain and shot Seven an angry glare.

“I’m his real dad! He’s my son! I have every right to take him with me! And who do you think you are?”

“Oh?” Seven narrowed his eyes. “So you do remember he’s your son?”

“Who am I?” Seven gave a cold laugh. “Listen carefully. My name is Seven. I’m not related to your family, so you don’t get to rank me in your family. But the kid is different. Sterling is your son; you dumped him in an orphanage and ignored him. Not only that, when he was with Ms. Wood, you never came to see him. Not even once.”

Gary froze, stunned by the scolding. He even forgot to pull his hand back.

Seven sneered. “Now that you see he’s doing better, that he can come out and be around crowds, you suddenly want to take him home and steal Ms. Wood’s credit?”

His words hit the mark. Gary’s face flushed red with shame.

Seven turned to Ethan and went on, “You were happy to bring your older son to the amusement park, but for 3.5 years, you never once thought about visiting the kid. That’s favoritism at its worst.”

With a sharp motion, Seven shoved Gary aside.

“The kid finally made it through the hardest part. There’s no way I’m handing him over to you.”

Ethan pressed his lips together and lowered his head, saying nothing.

He couldn’t argue. The man was right.

“You don’t get to decide that!” Gary snapped. But with Seven blocking him and so many people around, he didn’t dare act. Instead, he glared at Sterling, trying to force him to obey with a father’s authority.

Sterling looked at his parents. There was no fear in his eyes anymore. No panic. He looked calm and steady.

“You only care about Ethan. You never cared about me,” Sterling said clearly. “So you don’t have the right to control me now.”

Hearing Sterling speak so smoothly and seeing his calm and firm expression, Fiona, Gary, and Ethan were all stunned into silence.

If the boy standing in front of them didn’t look somewhat like them, especially like Ethan–almost as if they were cut from the same mold–they would have thought he had been switched with another child.

The people around them began whispering again.

“Look at him. Listen to him. Does that sound like a kid with autism?”

“Exactly. I told you that woman is a drama queen.”

“I don’t think it’s about exaggerating or not. Even if their son really does have autism, she yelled so loudly just now, and that man glared at him like that. Aren’t they worried about hurting the child emotionally?”

Fiona and Gary froze as they stared at Sterling. For a moment, the child in front of them felt like a stranger.

He just said they had no right.

Hearing their son say something so cold and distant, no parent could honestly say it didn’t hurt. That would be a lie.

After all, he was their own flesh and blood.

Looking more closely now, Sterling was more handsome than his older brother.
