“Let’s go,” Cassia said. Sterling had calmed down and was doing fine. Cassia said nothing more and turned toward the classroom building.

In the fifth–grade teachers‘ office, a female teacher wearing black–framed glasses greeted them.

The moment she saw Sterling, she pushed her glasses up and blurted out, “Ethan?”

Cassia frowned slightly. “His name is Sterling.”

“Oh, sorry,” the teacher realized her mistake and quickly smiled in apology. “I used to be Ethan’s homeroom teacher. This child looks so much like him. They looked identical. I honestly thought Ethan had somehow shrunk and come back to elementary school,” she laughed.

“It’s fine,” Cassia said. “He and Ethan are twins. Of course, they look alike.”

“So, they’re twins,” the teacher said, studying Sterling. He was better–looking than Ethan but also quiet and well–behaved, the kind of child people liked at first glance.

“Sterling,” Cassia said gently, “you can walk around the campus for a bit. Don’t go too far from the classroom building. When the bell rings, come back.”

“Okay,” Sterling nodded obediently and walked out of the office.

After watching him leave, Cassia turned back to the teacher.
