“Haha! Who do you think you’re scaring? You make one random phone call and tell me you called the cops? I’ve lived this long; you think a little kid like you can scare me?”
Vance said with open contempt.
But a moment later, he heard police sirens getting closer and closer.
The sound made his legs feel weak.
No way. This girl had to be bluffing. He was her father. No way a daughter would be heartless enough to call the police on her old
man.
Maybe something else happened nearby. Maybe the police were just passing by for another case. Yeah. That had to be it. No need to scare himself.
“Cassia, I’m warning you. Be good and come with me.”
Facing his threat, Cassia’s face stayed calm and emotionless.
She looked past him. The police car was pulling up behind Vance. Officers stepped out and walked toward them. A playful smile curved at the corner of her lips.
“And what if I don’t go with you?”
Vance rolled up his sleeves and pointed at her like some old–school gang boss.
“If you don’t come with me today, I’ll tie you up and drag you home! You won’t make it to your damn SAT!”
The moment the officers stepped out, they saw a middle–aged man harassing and threatening a high school girl in uniform.
One officer pulled out handcuffs. Click! They locked them around Vance’s wrists.
Vance was baffled. “What?”
Before he could react, three officers surrounded him, twisted his arms behind his back, and pinned him down.
“Argghhh!” Vance cried out in pain. His face turned pale as he finally realized what was happening.
“I–I’m not-”
“You can explain yourself at the station.”
“–”
“Get him in the car.”
One officer turned to Cassia kindly. “Are you hurt?”
Cassia shook her head.
“I’m Vance Wood! She’s my daughter, Cassia Wood! Officers, you’ve got it all wrong!” Vance shouted from inside the police car

The officer escorting him said sternly, “I don’t care who you are. Interfering with a 12th–grade student’s SAT is disturbing public order.”
“Who the hell do you think you are?! I want to see your chief! I’ve donated a lot of money to your department! How do you think you can afford these nice police cars? Even your chief shows me respect! Who do you think you are? Let me go!”
Vance kept yelling inside the car.
The officer standing in front of Cassia spoke again gently. “Miss, please come to the station later to give a statement. Don’t be scared.”
Cassia checked the time on her phone. “I have an exam. Can I go after I finish?”
“Oh!” The officer smiled apologetically. “I forgot you have an exam today. No problem. Good luck on your exam. Hope you get great results and get into a good college.”
“Thank you.” Cassia nodded politely.
After she left, Draven and Seven walked out from Dunstino Bay.
“Mr. Grey, do you want us to step in? I mean… he is technically your future father–in–law.”
Draven glanced at Seven calmly.
“She doesn’t admit him. Why should I?”
Seven nodded. That made sense.
“And besides-” Draven paused. “Family problems should be handled by family.”
Seven clicked his tongue.
Family, huh? Your father–in–law still had no idea who you really are.
“Understood, Mr. Grey. What is your plan?” Seven asked.
“Let him stay in lockup a few more days,” Draven said expressionlessly. Then he told Seven to drive and caught up with Cassia.
“Get in. I’ll drive you,” Draven said, rolling down the window.
Cassia was about to call Buck for a ride. This saved her the trouble.
“Ms. Wood, why don’t you drive yourself to school?” Seven asked while driving. “You have money; you should own cars. I’ve known you for a long time, but I never seen you drive.”
“I have cars. I just don’t feel like driving,” Cassia said.
She had more than one car. All of them were luxury cars.
But honestly, she liked race cars more. And her driving style was different.
She loved speed. Loved the thrill. Once she got behind the wheel, she pressed the gas all the way down.
Last time, she drove an SUV too aggressively and crashed into Draven’s car.

If she was going to drive, she wanted it to feel exciting. But if she drove like that on public roads, her license would be gone in minutes.
That wasn’t fun at all. So over time, she lost interest in driving.
Though that convertible Draven let her drive last time? That was fun.
“Ohhh, I see,” Seven said, impressed.
Wow. That’s bold and fearless.
