Chapter 473 Punishment for Father–in–Law
Draven kept watching Cassia, a quiet smile was sitting in his eyes.
Vance was taken to the police station.
The moment he arrived, he exploded. He seized the officer’s collar and bellowed loudly.

“I donate money to you people just to have you can arrest me? Huh? Do you even know who I am? Arresting me–do you all want to lose your jobs?”
After bringing him in, the officers checked his records and realized that Vance was the family head of the Woods.
His family was well–known and wealthy in the city. Vance was the CEO of a major company, had business ties with Cosmo Group, and had donated to the police department for years. Because of that, the officers were cautious around him.
Vance knew it too. That was why he acted so arrogantly.
While he was yelling nonstop, someone suddenly shouted, “The chief is here!”
The police chief walked over with his hands behind his back.
“Chief, you came at the perfect time!” Vance pointed at the officers who had arrested him. “These punks dragged me here!”
“Oh? You three?” The chief narrowed his eyes and looked at them.
The officers stood in a row, shaking slightly.
Did they really make a mistake by arresting Vance?
Vance let out a smug snort.
See! This is what happens when you mess with me.
Without warning, the chief stepped forward, smiling warmly. He reached out and shook each officer’s hand.
“Congratulations,” he said. “You’ve made a major arrest. Headquarters has approved your promotion. “You’re now first class inspectors.”
“What?” Everyone froze.
The three officers looked dazed, unable to process what they had just heard.
They were just junior officers and now they had been promoted into inspectors!
Vance’s face went blank.
What? No punishment?! They got promoted instead?
“C–Chief, this doesn’t make sense, does it?” Vance said, quickly grabbing the chief’s arm with a forced smile.
“Why not?” the chief replied firmly.

“I–I was just disciplining my daughter,” Vance said. “They arrested me by mistake. Why are they instead being promoted?”
“There are witnesses,” the chief said coldly. “They reported that you attempted to use violence against your daughter. There was verbal abuse and coercion involved. On top of that, today was the SAT, and you deliberately tried to stop her from taking the exam. That is a serious violation of her personal rights.”
“What … well… hmm… ” Vance had no words.
“According to the law,” the chief continued, “you will be detained for one month.”
“What? Detained? One month?!” Vance panicked. He grabbed the chief and begged.
“Isn’t that too harsh? Can’t you lower it to two weeks?”
“Mr. Wood,” the chief said calmly, “do you really think that’s possible?”
“Then… what about the gift I gave your department?”
As soon as Vance finished speaking, the chief pulled out a bank card and handed it to him.
“This is the one million dollars you donated to our department over the years. Thank you for your support. We are returning it in full.”
Back when Vance donated the money, the chief thought he was being generous. Now he understood. Vance wasn’t helping them. He was buying protection and favors.
Just in case one day he got into trouble, he could use it as leverage.
As chief, he would never allow that.
Besides, the Greys were already waiting outside of his house with solid evidence. Even if the chief wanted to help, he wouldn’t dare.
“N–No… no need to return it,” Vance said quickly, pushing the card back. “Your station probably needs renovations anyway. This money can help with that.”
But the police chief was firm. No matter what was said, he refused to accept the bribe.
“Please respect me, Mr. Wood.”
The chief stared at him with sharp, serious eyes. “Right now, this is only a personal rights violation. A minor crime. If bribery is added, it won’t be just one month of detention.”
Vance’s legs gave out and collapsed to the ground.
