Chapter 48 The Birthday Party

Danica nudged Brie’s arm with a sneaky grin.

Danica, you’re unbelievable,Brie huffed, blushing when Danica guessed exactly what she wa thinking.

Don’t be shy. I get it,Danica laughed.

By the

way, what are you wearing tonight?Brie asked.

I’m going with that white denim skirt I bought last time,” Danica said as she slipped into it.

Next to Brie’s quiet, gentle personality, Danica was the lively one.

The skirt fit her perfectly, cute and bright, like it was made just for her.

Yeah, it looks great on you,” Brie said with a smile. They exchanged a quick, knowing look.

I wonder what that bumpkin is going to wear,Danica muttered, her lips curling in disdain. If she shows up looking like she walked out of some farm, it’ll be embarrassing for all of us.

She’ll probably try to dress properly; it’s that kind of event,Brie replied. But deep down, she was hoping Cassia would dress terribly. Ideally, she’d become everyone’s joke.

Hmph. What does she know about fashion? She wears the same old cutoff shorts and a faded Tshirt every day. Who is she trying to impress?Danica sneered.

Brie nodded. That part was true.

Maybe she thinks that’s stylish,Brie said lightly.

Brie, let’s not stand anywhere near her later. If people think we came with her, it’ll drag us down,” Danica added with a wicked grin.

Brie agreed instantly.

She didn’t want to be seen with Cassia, especially now that Cassia had taken first place in the City Finals.

It still stung every time she thought about it.

Once the girls were dressed, Geneva walked in. Girls, are you ready?

All set, Mom,Danica answered sweetly.

They stepped out of the room just as Cassia came out of hers.

Both girls froze the moment they saw Cassia. The way they looked at her was sharp and hot, as if their eyes were shooting fire.

Cassia wore a simple white buttondown shirt. It looked plain at first glance, but the loose, clean cut made it stylish. She had tucked it neatly into fitted denim jeans. The outfit was simple, sharp, and somehow effortlessly elegant.

Her features were delicate, her skin pale, and she had one hand casually tucked into her pocket. Her dark eyes were cool and unreadablepart streetsmart, part effortless, part detached.

Brie felt a sharp twist of jealousy in her chest. Cassia looked annoyingly good.

Cassia hadn’t expected to make such an impression. Her outfit looked simple, but on her, it didn’t look simple at all.

Cassia, you look amazing,Geneva said the moment she saw her. She couldn’t hold back her praise. Sweetheart, you really know how to put an outfit together. Beautiful.”

She even gave Cassia a big thumbsup.

Cassia gave a small smile and walked over.

Danica felt a sting of jealousy. She muttered under her breath, What does Mom even see in that? What’s so pretty about it? She looks like a tomboy. Not classy at all.

She refused to admit Cassia looked good.

Around eleven, they left the house.

On their ride there, Geneva said, When we get there, remember your manners. Everyone attending tonight has status. Don’t embarrass yourselves.”

Relax, Mom. Brie and I would never embarrass you. As for someone else,Danica shot a look at Cassia, her tone full of sarcasm. I can’t say the same.”

Everyone knew exactly who she meant.

Geneva shot her a sharp glare.

Danica turned away, frustrated. Ever since that bumpkin came home, her mother barely liked

anymore. She was always speaking up for Cassia now.

Before long, they reached the hotel.

It was clear the Gills adored their daughter. They chose the most luxurious fivestar hotel in all of Zrario.

The birthday party was being held on the fifth floor.
