Chapter 540 A Lesson Learned
Chapter 540 A Lesson Learned
“Ugh, just two men! Still, that Rosalie and the beauty following her are more interesting,” Nathan muttered.
“What did you just say?” Draven suddenly stopped, planted his feet, and spun to face Nathan.
“Ah? Uh? I mean, I was talking about yesterday, when I scammed Cassia and… and touched her…”
Nathan blurted out, completely caught off guard by Draven’s sudden appearance.
“You touched her?”

Draven’s expression instantly turned icy, darkening with a dangerous intensity. He stood with his hands behind his back–his right hand clenched into a fist, his left gripping his wrist.
His knuckles cracked audibly.
At this moment, his brows were furrowed, and his eyes narrowed into slits, radiating pure menace.
He didn’t move, yet it felt like a dark cloud pressing down on Nathan, making it hard for him to breathe.
“No! No, absolutely not!”
Nathan scrambled back, grateful for the distance between him and Draven, or he would’ve frozen like an icicle.
“Better not be,” Draven said, his face terrifyingly dark, as though ready to kill on the spot.
Even if Nathan hadn’t actually touched her, just the fact that he had been leering and scheming while Cassia was there was enough.
And if Draven hadn’t been present, what could’ve happened?
Thinking of her being harassed made his chest tighten with both anger and pain.
“Seven!” Draven called,
Seven dashed over.
“What is it, Mr. Grey?”
“Rip out his eyes,” Draven said, pointing at Nathan’s shifty, beady eyes.
Nathan collapsed onto the ground, paralyzed with fear.
Seeing Seven step toward him, Nathan didn’t dare think of anything else. He scrambled up and bolted like lightning, barely managing to escape.
He ran down the mountain, hid in his house, locked himself in his room, and didn’t dare leave for several days.
Three days passed with no one showing up and no one coming for his eyes.
Finally, he cautiously stepped outside and spat on the ground. “Hah! All bark, no bite!”

Clearly, those two men were master and servant.
But why had he been so scared of that one guy?
Was it because of his scary glare and threatening words?
With the backing of Eagle, that man was at most a little heir. What did he have to fear?
Nathan strutted along confidently.
He reached the edge of a small cornfield when suddenly someone threw a sack over his head and dragged him inside.
“You hold him down,” Axel said to his men, brandishing a sharp knife.
Ignoring Nathan’s struggles, he aimed at Nathan’s eyes and stabbed.
Meanwhile, the scene shifted back to the mountain, the day Nathan had fled home in terror.
In Chesthale Peak, the five of them continued climbing deeper into the hills.
Cassia slowed her pace and looked back at Seven, who was following behind her and Draven.
“Did you bring water? I’ve finished mine.”
“Yes,” Seven said, stopping and pulling a bottle of mineral water from his canvas bag. He handed it to Cassia.
“Thanks.” Cassia tilted the bottle and drank deeply.
Gulp. Gulp.
Very quickly, Cassia finished off the entire 20–oz bottle of water in one go.
Draven had stopped to watch her. When he noticed her slightly pale face, he asked, “Are you tired?”
“No… I’m not tired.”
Draven scanned the surroundings.
They had reached a shaded stretch of the trail with trees overhead blocking the sun–a perfect spot to rest.
“Let’s take a break here.”
“Okay, Mr. Grey. I’ll let the others know.”
Seven turned to call to Rosalie and Sacha.
The trail was steep, and the sun was scorching. They had reached the halfway point of the mountain.
After all that climbing, a rest was necessary.
“I’m exhausted!”

Seven plopped onto the ground, then bounced up like a monkey, clutching his behind. “Damn, it’s so hot!”

Everyone laughed and found shaded spots to sit.
Even the ground out of direct sunlight radiated heat under the midday sun.
Draven took Seven’s canvas bag and walked over to a natural stone bench by the path. He wiped the surface with a handkerchief. then gestured for Cassia to come sit.
She obeyed and sat down.
Draven sat beside her.
Tilting his head, he noticed her face was pale and her forehead glistening with sweat.
Draven stood, pulled out a clean white towel and a bottle of water from the bag, dampened the towel, and gently laid it across Cassia’s forehead, wiping away her sweat with careful, practiced motions.
