“This is a clean towel. It hasn’t been used.”
“Thank you…”

Cassia, who usually disliked being taken care of, was unusually obedient now. She was letting Draven tend to her like a quiet little kitten.
Her still–clear eyes stayed fixed on him as he carefully and gently wiped the sweat from her face.
She didn’t resist because she really didn’t want to move. And the cool towel brushing against her burning skin felt like a stream of cold water flowing over her. It instantly made her feel much better.
The group rested for twenty minutes. Aside from her head feeling more and more foggy, Cassia felt better in other ways.
When they had first started hiking, she had already realized something was wrong. She drank more water, thinking she could push through and hold out until they got back down the mountain.
“Give me another bottle of water.” Cassia held out her hand to Draven.
Draven took out another bottle, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to her.
Gulp. Gulp.
Another bottle was emptied. Cassia still didn’t seem satisfied and asked for a third.
Gulp. Gulp.
“Slow down…” Draven frowned slightly as the water disappeared like sand through an hourglass, unease creeping into his chest.
The third bottle was gone.
But Cassia reached out again.
Draven glanced at the limited water left in the bag, hesitating. “Cassia, drinking this much water at once isn’t good for you. Let’s walk a bit first, then drink more later, okay?”
“Alright.”
Maybe she realized it too, because she nodded and stood up.
“Let’s keep moving.”
The group set off again.
Less than ten minutes later, Sacha and Rosalie had already moved ahead, while Cassia fell far behind at the back of the group.
Draven noticed immediately. Normally full of energy, she was now trailing behind. He slowed his pace and stayed beside her, keeping a close eye on her.
Her face was growing redder, and her complexion was also getting worse. “Are you okay?” he asked.

“I’m fine… just a little thirsty…”
In truth, Cassia also felt dizzy and nauseous. Her limbs felt drained of all strength, weak and aching.
But her pride wouldn’t allow her to show weakness.
“I… just remembered something. I’ll head down first.”

As a skilled doctor, Cassia had already realized what was happening. She had hoped to hold out until they finished, but she had overestimated herself.
“I’ll take you.” Seeing how unsteady she was, Draven moved closer to support her..
The moment his hand touched her skin, heat surged into him like touching boiling water.
No, it was even hotter than that.
He pulled back slightly and touched his own arm.
It was warm from the sun, but nothing abnormal.
His heart tightened instantly.
“No need. I can go down by myself. It’s your first time out here, so you should enjoy it,” Cassia said, pushing him away.
She didn’t want to ruin his plans or mood because of her. Besides, this was something she could handle alone.
All she needed was to get down the mountain and find an air–conditioned room to rest.
“Tell Rosalie and the others for me.”
With that, she turned and started walking downhill.
The group continued forward, but Draven had no interest in the scenery anymore.
Without her, even the most beautiful view felt dull.
Up ahead, Seven and the others kept walking.
“Mr Grey, look at this tree! It’s so weird, haha!”
Seven turned around, only to realize Draven was gone.
“Huh? Where’d he go? Wait, Ms. Cassia’s gone too!”
Sacha and Rosalie both turned at the same time.
“Where’s Cassia? She was just behind us.”
“They probably slowed down. Let’s sit here and wait for them.”
Meanwhile, Cassia staggered down the mountain path. In Draven’s eyes, she looked like a leaf in autumn, barely clinging to a branch, ready to fall at any moment.

Suddenly, she couldn’t hold on any longer. Her vision went black, and she collapsed backward.
Just as she was about to fall, Draven rushed forward and caught her.
“So hot!”
The moment he touched her, the heat from her body made his heart jolt.
Flushed face, heavy sweating, burning skin, intense thirst–these were clear signs of heatstroke.
“Heatstroke?” His mind spiraled into chaos.

Cassia, half–conscious, was suddenly pulled into his arms. Her eyes snapped open, and by instinct, she grabbed his collar, ready to throw him over her shoulder.
“It’s me. Don’t be afraid,” Draven said softly, his voice filled with concern.
Even on the verge of passing out, she could force herself awake in an instant and stay alert.
So, this was how she had always lived–alone, relying only on herself.
She had already felt unwell earlier, yet she chose to hide it and stubbornly endure it alone.
Thinking of that, Draven tightened his hold around her.
