After finishing the call, he crouched beside her and took out the remaining bottles of water from the canvas bag. Then, he placed hem along her arms, thighs, and cheeks to cool her down.

Then, he opened one bottle and tilted it toward her lips.

But her mouth stayed shut. The water spilled down the corners of her lips and onto the ground, evaporating almost instantly.

Draven looked at her tightly furrowed brows, at her flushed lips from the heat.

They were still far from the rest station at the base of the mountain, and her condition was urgent. If he didn’t cool her down quickly, it could become life–threatening.

He knew she was unconscious. If she were awake, what would she do?

He didn’t want to take advantage of her or cross any boundaries, but…

His chest rose and fell as he struggled internally, like waves crashing in a storm.

“Forgive me, Cassia.”

Making up his mind, he lifted the bottle and took a large mouthful of water.

Then, supporting her head with one arm, he lifted her into the crook of his arm.

Leaning down, his lips met hers.

His tongue gently parted her lips and teeth, transferring the water from his mouth into hers.

After one mouthful, he pulled back, took another drink, and leaned down again.

Using this almost “kiss–like” method, he fed her an entire bottle of water, mouthful by mouthful.

After finishing one bottle, he opened another and continued.

Once two bottles were gone, he searched the bag anxiously for anything that could help cool her down.

All he found was Seven’s small handheld fan.

After he turned it on, the fan hummed softly, lifting the strands of hair at Cassia’s temples.

Picking up another bottle, he soaked the towel he had used earlier and began wiping her down repeatedly.

After emptying one bottle, he opened another, soaked the towel again, and kept wiping. He repeated this multiple times.

He didn’t know how long it had been until he heard a faint murmur from her lips.

She was awake.

Draven quickly leaned closer, the tension in his brow easing.

Cassia slowly regained consciousness. However, she was still dazed, and she was looking at his face like a newborn seeing the world for the first time.

Draven touched her arm.

Though still warm, the damp skin he had been wiping had cooled noticeably. At least her temperature had finally come down.

“Feeling better?” he asked softly, his eyes filled with a tenderness he couldn’t hide.

Cassia nodded.

“Much better.”

She noticed the empty water bottles scattered around and the small fan humming nearby.

Her memory stopped at the moment he caught her. After that, everything was blank.

Now, it was obvious. Draven had saved her while she had been unconscious.

Once again, he had pulled her through danger.

Cassia lowered her head slightly.

She hadn’t wanted to trouble him, yet she still had.

Suddenly, she realized she was lying in his arms, and he was very close. So close that her chest was pressed against his, separated by only two thin layers of fabric.

She pushed her hands against the ground, trying to sit up.
