Danica puffed out her cheeks and turned to stare out the car window. She needed some quiet.

At last, they got home.

It happened to be the weekend, so Vance was home.

When he saw Danica storm in with a dark face, he froze for a second. Then he joked, “Who made my sweet girl this mad? Look at you, your cheeks are puffed up like a chipmunk’s.”

“Dad, don’t even start. It was Cassia. She’s impossible. She embarrassed me today.” Danica immediately assumed the role of the victim.

“What? She caused trouble again? Can she not keep things calm for once?” Vance sounded irritated.

Just hearing Cassia’s name now made him impatient.

His company’s projects had been stuck for weeks. He went to Cosmo Group several times but still couldn’t meet Nicole.

It even felt like she was avoiding him.

But why? He had never offended her. They barely knew each other.

He couldn’t figure it out, so he blamed everything on Cassia.

Ever since that jinx came home, nothing had gone smoothly for Vance.

So when Danica complained, it stirred up all his frustration.

Danica added fuel to the fire. “Dad, you need to give her a real warning! And Cassia hangs out with all kinds of shady people.”

Danica thought for a moment and answered, “That woman today was super bold. I heard she’s from Cosmo Group or something.”

“What? She knows someone from Cosmo Group” Vance almost jumped up in excitement.

Danica flinched at his reaction but nodded. “Yeah, that’s what Mr. Mark said.”

“Mr. Mark?” Vance blinked. Then it had to be true. Mark would never mistake Nicole for someone else.

Suddenly Vance felt a spark of excitement.

Could it be that Cassia actually knows Nicole?

But the next second, he shook the thought away. Cassia was still just a teenage girl. How could she possibly know someone that powerful?

Vance planned to ask later, though he guessed Cassia wouldn’t tell him anything anyway.

Just then, the others walked in.

Vance took a careful look at Cassia. She didn’t seem special, just a girl who had grown up in some tiny rural town. Maybe Danica had misheard something.

Cassia walked in, gave him a cool glance, and headed straight for her room.

Vance frowned at this and berated, “That’s how you treat your elders? You walk right past and don’t even greet me? Maybe no one taught you manners back in that small town, but now that you’re part of this family, you follow our rules.”

He scolded Cassia as if she had done something terrible.

Cassia paused. Then she let out a soft, cold laugh. “Are you sure you want me to greet you?”

Even though she had a quiet personality, when she first came home, she did greet him. But after a while, she noticed he looked annoyed every time she tried. So now she didn’t bother at all.

She didn’t expect him to bring it up tonight.

“What kind of attitude is that when you’re speaking to your elders?” Vance snapped, his face darkening.

If anyone heard this conversation, they’d comment he raised a daughter with no manners.
