The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 221

Chapter Two Hundred Twenty One

Claim

Diana could feel both Talon’s and Fenrir’s anger through the mate bond. But underneath it… Fear. So much fear. They had believed she could die. And that fear was feeding their rage. Diana stepped closer.

“Talon, listen to me.”

“I am listening.”

“No. You’re angry.”

“Of course I’m angry!”

“Talon!”

Her Luna aura surged. The force of it collided with his Alpha aura. The room trembled. Talon finally stopped. Diana stared directly into his eyes.

“I was the one who told Ravenna to leave!”

Silence.

Talon’s expression went completely blank.

“What?”

“I told her to take Thorne and disappear.”

Talon stared at her as if she had suddenly begun speaking another language. Diana continued before he could interrupt.

“I gave her the charms.”

“What charms?”

“The concealment charm and the transportation charm.”

Talon’s face slowly changed. Confusion. Disbelief. Then realization.

“The charm that hides scent…”

Diana nodded.

“And magic.”

His eyes widened.

“And the transportation charm…”

“I gave her that too.”

The silence became deafening. Even Fenrir stopped growling. Talon stared at his mate.

“You…”

His voice was barely audible.

“You helped them escape?”

“Yes.”

“Diana…”

“I knew what would happen if the warriors reached Thorne.”

Talon’s jaw clenched.

“They would have killed him.”

“Exactly.”

“He deserved-”

“Maybe.”

That answer stopped him. Diana stepped closer.

“But Ravenna deserved a choice.”

Talon shook his head.

“What does that mean?”

“She brought Thorne back.”

Diana’s voice softened.

Claim

“Not physically. Not completely. But she reached him. You saw his eyes, Talon. The darkness disappeared. Gideon’s curse left him. Thorne remembered Ravenna. He remembered their

son. He chose them.”

Talon remained silent.

“And when he collapsed…”

Diana swallowed.

Claim

“Ravenna thought she had killed him. She was holding the male she loved while believing she

had just lost him forever.”

Diana’s eyes became glassy.

“I couldn’t take him away from her after that.”

Talon looked away.

“So you planned the attack.”

“Yes.”

“Ravenna attacking you…”

“Was my idea.”

Talon’s head snapped toward her. Diana didn’t flinch.

“I told her to attack me.”

“Diana.”

His voice became dangerously quiet.

“I told her not to hurt the pups. Artemis protected them.”

Inside Diana’s mind, Artemis lifted her head proudly.

“And we did.”

Talon looked horrified.

“You let a depleted White Witch strike you while you’re carrying our pups?”

“I trusted Ravenna.”

“You were unconscious for an entire night!”

“Because I was already exhausted!”

Talon dragged both hands down his face.

“Diana…”

“I know you’re angry.”

“Angry?”

He stared at her.

“I watched you fly across a battlefield!”

His voice cracked.

Claim

“I watched you collapse! I carried you here believing something had happened to you or our

children!”

Diana’s anger disappeared. She walked closer.

“Talon…”

“You could have told me.”

“I couldn’t.”

“So where are they?”

Diana remained silent. Talon slowly turned around.

“You said only you and Ravenna know where the transportation charm goes.”

“Yes.”

“Tell me.”

“No.”

Talon stared at her.

“Diana.”

“No.”

His aura stirred again. Their eyes locked. Neither moved. Finally, Diana spoke.

“Ravenna gave everything to protect me. She fought her own mate. She nearly exhausted her magic healing me and you every time Thorne injured us. She stabbed the male she loved because it was the only way to bring him back. She chose our lives when everyone demanded that she choose between her mate and her duty.”

Diana shook her head.

“I will not repay that by sending an army after her when she finally has a chance to save her family.”

Talon’s jaw tightened.

“And Thorne?”

“If Gideon’s curse is truly gone…”

Diana paused.

“Then I want to know who Thorne is without it.”

“And if the curse isn’t gone?”

“Then Ravenna knows what she has to do.”

Claim

Talon stared at her for a long time. Diana reached for his face and gently placed both hands against his cheeks.

“Call Enzo.”

“Diana…”

“Please.”

Her voice softened.

“Stop the search. Let Ravenna save her mate. Let her have the chance she gave us.”

Talon closed his eyes beneath her touch. Inside their bond, Fenrir remained unusually quiet. Because the anger was still there. The betrayal Talon had felt was still there. But now… He knew the truth. Ravenna had never betrayed Diana. Diana had simply chosen to help her escape. And somehow, Talon wasn’t sure whether that made him feel better… Or made him

want to strangle his stubborn mate himself.

“I will not stop the search.”

Talon’s answer finally came after several long minutes of silence. His voice was quiet. Diana’s heart tightened.

“Talon…” she started, but the words died in her throat the moment she saw the look in his

eyes.

Hurt.

Disappointment.

Betrayal.

And the worst part was that Diana understood every single one of those emotions. She had expected him to be angry. She had expected him to argue. But seeing the pain in his face

was different. It cut deeper than his anger ever could.

Claim

“I cannot stop the search,” Talon continued. “I am the Alpha King. If I suddenly order everyone to stop looking for Ravenna and Thorne, people will start asking questions.”

Diana opened her mouth, but Talon kept speaking.

“You knew that, didn’t you?”

His eyes never left hers.

“You probably thought about that when you were planning their escape. When you were kneeling there on that battlefield, hugging Ravenna and comforting her.”
